I
Buckeye was that your corn that got knocked over by the storm?
?

Yes, the middle row got knocked down pretty good, but eventually stood back up somewhat.
The right row against the pole beans just got blown against the beans, they straighten back up. Row to left leaned against the fence.
IMG_5346.JPG

This was a couple weeks ago.

I never needed a fence, nor had problems with animals, until the 22 acres across the road sprouted 2 houses instead of corn.

72F and cloudy @ 21:00, heading down to 70F for the overnight low with a 30% chance of rain. Local weather station reports they got 0.22" of rain since midnight, probably similar here at the house.

Grease gun delivered, the USPS carrier stuffed it into the (open) compartment for the newspaper at the box, not real sure why they didn't just put it in the box which is actually larger.

Very happy with it so far - appears to be fairly well made (in India apparently), seems to be hefty, only downside has been that the coupler seems to have the "Jaws of Death" grip. Took me a bit to figure out what you have to do to get it to detach (angle it to the side and roll it around) Guess I would prefer it have a stronger grip rather than a weaker one. Was able to bleed the air out easily and get it primed.

Greased the tiller side bearing and both the u-joints, also greased the Kubota and FEL. Only thing I missed was one of the slide pins on the SSQA, not critical.

Also got the slip cutch on the tiller broken loose and set to it's initial adjustment. Should have done that yesterday (before I hit the buried pipe ... ) Haven't tilled with it since I did the initial adjustment, so it may need some further tightening. We'll see.

Had some baked Alaskan pollock fillets and sautéed squash for dinner.

May head up to the shop here in a bit and see about working on the operator floor/deck before I shut things down for the night.

Heading into a 5 day stretch of nice weather starting tomorrow where high temps will be in the 80's and chances of rain less than 50% each day ... (y)

Hope everyone had a great day.

Did you mean potted plants?
vegan stoner brownies???
61°F and heavy thunderstorms this morning, going up to 83° today.

Seems our epic drought has been ended by epic rains today. Reports say as much as 10" of rain in some areas since midnight. Lots of flooding all over the STL area, with lots of water rescues in vehicles and even some homes. I got about halfway to work before turning around and coming back home. I-70 is closed at three or four places, including my exit in the city. I've seen friends posting pictures of parking lots and streets with cars flooded up to the windows, and some to just below the roof. Crazy around here today.

Good morning, gents.
Glad you turned around.

69°F and .6 inches rain.

Feeling a bit more mobile this morning

Water quality team scheduled to visit this morning. Will be taking a number of water samples, inspecting my system, and changing out my filters.

After they leave I intend to check out my new PW foam gun. My hope is this will be more effective on the roof washing then just a backpack sprayer.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day
Glad you're feeling better. Sore ribs hurt. Is water testing because you wanted it tested? Or gov't forcing it?

Hope the PW works out. What about water and a long handled window brush on 1 side/squeegee on the other?

1 billion dollars now for MegaMillions.
crazy amount of money

can you imagine how many new friends one would make?....................think one would have to move and hide.
Drew, go get you 2 tickets. I'm already your friend whether you win or not. Maybe you could be philanthropic and help find new cures for cancer.
Not exactly true. I never liked tomatoes. Once they're processed into some manner of sauce, I'm fine with them. Just not fresh. Not a fan of that seedy, snotty goo in the middle. 🤮
Same for me. Same for me. Picante sauce rocks! Don't like the mush. And whatever you do, DO NOT PUT TOMATOES IN GUACAMOLE. Way to ruin a perfectly good avocado.
I attempted to polish the car's headlights by hand.... not going to happen..... my hands started cramping. I will get one of the 'kits' made for the job. I watched a few YouTube videos, that kit will make life much easier.
I hate to sound pessimistic, but if you're trying to clear up fogged headlights, check to make sure the fog/discoloration is not but a mil thick...otherwise, you might be wasting your money and time.
Nope. Never met an okra I liked either. Also not a fan of mushrooms (fungi).

Fortunately for us, most of the things The Wife or I dislike are generally liked by the other. If I get food with tomatoes or mushrooms, I simply remove them and give them to her. She's not a fan of hot peppers, so those get shoveled off to me. It evens out for us in the end.
I only like a teensy bit of okra in my gumbo. But I like most mushrooms.

well, we are finally experiencing summer ... past 4-5 days Temps in the mid 30's C, 95-97 F ... i'm not complaining

(otherwise I can't complain in the winter with snow and ice)

It's been a busy few days, and I am way behind on this thread.
My wife is STILL out of town with her dad ... she is not doing well though, and can't manage the 8 hr drive home right now. It's been too long, I miss her. I checked with a friend who has a plane, so I may fly up at some point to pick her up and drive the car and trailer home. We'll see.
Prayers continue.

I'm very late but, good (Thursday) arvo. A cool overnight Low of 4C. Mostly clear with a steady breeze. The High was 16C.

I'm 'late' because my computer's anti-virus and tech-help subscription ran out; my computer was 'unprotected', so I gave them a ring and got all of that sorted out. So I'm good for the next couple of years. The tech-help is rarely used but when it's needed it's NEEDED! 😮

Then it was into town for a noon 'drop off' at the Church Shed... which turned out to be a no-show. Still, I was able to give out a camp-chair to someone requiring, so it wasn't a waste of time. I did give it an hour's wait 'til I headed home.

Lunch, and the wood is in for the evening... we'll just have to see what my next adventure will be.

Take care all.

   / Good morning!!!! #153,790
good morning all
70 going up to 91 today with possible afternoon storms.
nice to hear light rain early this morning, gauge says .33. Not enough but will bring the lawn back from brown.

lots of errands to run, need to pick flowers up from one friend to deliver to other good friend who finally came home from hospital at dinner time last night.
Hope he had a wonderful sleep in his own bed with his wife.

and of course, will buy another couple of lottery tickets. Kyle, not to worry, I'd give it all away anyway. For something good too, no megayachts...
Too much money can often be a problem.
Never had the opportunity to find out... ;)

It's 74 outside heading to mid 80's.

Nothing to report on gents, yesterday was shot due to the legal issues stemming from the March micro-burst that damaged the property. Yeah, depressing and well, just not right. Recall I also just got my premium doubled.

Today, since we are in the pop up t-storm pattern, IF the grass dries out, mowing...mowing...mowing.
Mostly, it is not only the rain, the humidity is feeding my grass too. I cannot recall a day this "summer" where I go tend to the animals and the grass is NOT wet.

I would sure share the water if I could.

Hope all have a good day, and those that are in need of healing, heal. Be safe.

Good morning! 77˚F clear skies 0% chance of rain. heading for our 48th 100s degree day this year, the most we have had this early in the Summer. Almost a month without rain. Whipper just can't seem to get an extended walk in the evenings when it's always 101˚ around 6:30-7 pm.

Today is my yard water day, just trying to keep the yard from having to be replaced. The city is trying to get everyone to let their yard go dormant, but it does not go dormant in the Summer with no water it dies, and new sod must be brought in next spring at a very high cost. I'll just take the $ hit now in the third tier water bill rates.

Drew, as Wilbur and Orville Wright's preacher father said often: "All the money anyone needs is just enough to prevent one from being a burden to others."

Finished the Wright Brothers book, need to find another book to ease past these hunkering down scorching afternoons.

Good Morning
It’s 72 with a high in the upper 80’s forecast with a slight chance of showers later in the day. We did get 1/4” of rain overnight, not sure that anything will green up with that little, but it’s better than nothing.

Yesterday followed the plan with trips to HF and Lowes as well as the fastener house. They’re the only place I can get short (3/4”) coarse thread drywall screws, and at a reasonable price. I paid a whole dollar for 300 screws.

Used the plunder to accomplish tasks about the shop and keep busy for the majority of the day.

Wife has a few repair tasks for me today that will involve the lathe and hydraulic press amongst other tools, and I would like to spend some time creating some (musical)samples to use with the band.
So I suspect it’s another day that will pass quickly.

Morning all, looks like we had almost 3/4" of rain overnight and only lost power for a few minutes.
Going to be a wonderfully humid 92 today.

Got some sanding done on the Ash plank for my friend. Too hit for much else.

Stay safe and be well,

Before, ripping chain left it quite rough

After-getting to look like it should. Short planks for this "order"
Flap disk on ginder, followed by palm sander.

Good Morning!!!! 75F @ 6:45AM. Sunny. High 104F. Winds SSW at 10 to 15 mph.

Not much luck reviving the Unifi router yesterday, so I've moved most of what's here over to using the Starlink router. There are still some things not on it yet, but I'm getting to them as I find them. Now I just hope that the Starlink router doesn't go belly up, as their tech support seems to be almost nonexistent.

Spot sprayed a tank of RM43 with side-by-side yesterday, catching up with a lot more yellow star thistle than last year. The side-by-side over heated again, but I can't see where the cooling system is leaking. Hope it's not a bad head gasket.

Off to town for groceries and errands today.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

Warning the stems of peppers will ignite when microwaved.

All plants absorb minerals like iron, magnesium, and copper from the soil through their roots, dispersing them in various amounts throughout their stems, leaves, and fruit.

I was thawing out this frozen pepper when the stem ignited after 15 seconds. I quickly extinguished it with my hand.
Apparently it is a thing.

80F and supposedly mostly cloudy but I'm seeing sun looking out the window. HI 83F, headed up to a high of around 87F. Had a good downpour earlier as I was waking up, LWS reports (another ?) 0.22" ...

Another day where I can escape watering for most of the stuff in pots ... :giggle:

Got 11 holes punched in the two sheets I'll be welding on the bottom of floor/deck when I went up to close things up last night. A little more forward progress. Now I need to clean the oil off, de-burr the holes, and do a little more grinding for a better fit and they can be welded in.

Also cleaned up the blobs of grease that fell on the shop floor from the lube job.

Agenda for today:

Refill hopper, nyjer, and suet feeders.

Check Japanese Beetle trap bag.

Remove tiller and swap out for box blade.

Remove light material bucket and swap out for stump/shrub bucket.

Dig out that pipe in the garden area.

Remove stump/shrub bucket and swap out for light material bucket.

More compost/manure screening. I'm now alternating: one bucketload of manure followed by one bucketload of compost from the pile, rinse and repeat.

Move more screened material down to the expanded garden area to build it up.

Like down at Mike's, with the rain we've been getting lately, the grass has been growing ... so will need to take a look at that ... maybe hit the front later if it dries out.

Hope everyone has a good Thursday ... (y)
