69°F and .6 inches rain.

Feeling a bit more mobile this morning

Water quality team scheduled to visit this morning. Will be taking a number of water samples, inspecting my system, and changing out my filters.

After they leave I intend to check out my new PW foam gun. My hope is this will be more effective on the roof washing then just a backpack sprayer.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Hope ribs feeling better.

Be careful. After your recent fail it may be easier to pull a muscle in your side twisting with the PW. On the roof is no place to have a muscle spasm across your ribs.

Heard a new song today that I liked; Progress by John Rich, some will like some will not.

i like it.
People have had enough, for too long.

75F and supposedly "Fair" @ 13:00, heading up to a high temp of around 81F for the day ... but it seems mostly cloudy right now.

No indication that new grease gun has shipped or even out for delivery (sometimes stuff shows up early) so most likely work on compost screening at some point.

May raise the tiller and spin it up briefly just to hear how it sounds.

Need to work on supports for The Woman's dahlias cages, adding more soil to the grow bags, and otherwise help Her tend those.

Maybe hook up the dump cart and get the stuff I repotted moved around back.

Refill sprayer and finish the area that still needs sprayed.

Plan to light off the big burn pile later this evening, so will likely put the grapple on.

Hope everyone is having a decent Tuesday ... (y)

Drew, to be honest I didn’t bounce at all. I think that was the problem. ☹️ Surprisingly, Apple watch didn’t even register as a fall. Am feeling less sore this morning.

Special prayers for your friends and neighbors.

Voted by mail this morning, Primary. We no longer have a polling place in neighborhood. That was always a good place to see people. Miss that.
While quite convenient I don’t think there are enough safeguards.
Organized efforts under the pretense of assistance.
Group voting, such as bring your ballots to service next week and we will fill them out.
I’m not smart enough to thwart and not sure anyone else is either.

So true. I will just be testing firmly on the ground.

Making up a vinegar/soap solution for the painted house walls and bleach/soap solution for the metal roof. Actually am hiring someone to do the roof cleaning, screw replacement. I’m just doing investigative prep.
His plan is to apply the bleach solution via backpack sprayer. Neither of us have used a foam gun but I think worth seeing if letting solution linger a bit may be more effective, maybe even more efficient. Actual work scheduled to start Fri wx permitting.

Let me know how your solution works, please. My metal roof is looking kinda dirty also.

The water team was here, even the rain.

They collected sample from kitchen sink, took my spent carbon filter, took samples & readings at the tanks, took pics and made notes.

I replaced all the sediment filters at same time

I have new housing on order. Not sure I trust these 15 yo filter to last much longer. Managed to break some of the ribs with the wrench.

Here is team at work

Good (Wednesday) morning. Winter is slowly returning with an overnight Low of 4C. It's partly cloudy and fairly calm. It may warm up to 15C.

Well, it's 'into town' day for groceries. But first there'll be a Coffee Gathering for the local Veterans from 1000 to 1100. I finally received a call-back for a furniture drop-off at the Church Shed so I scheduled that for 1115... I'll then go and do my shopping.

A bit of puttering for the arvo. I, too, have heard the John Rich song "Progress" and agree with it. (y)

Take care all.

The coffee gathering went very well; the coffee turned out to be free/gratuitous as a Veterans organisation called "mates4mates" was there to give a wee presentation. They mostly organise activities/gatherings/hobbies for Veterans (and their families) who are transiting from Military to civvie life. Somewhat what 'we' are doing anyway, here in St Helens.

I'd left my mobile at home, so when the Church Shed drop-off was to occur at 1115 and nobody was there, even 15 minutes after that time, I reckoned it was another no-show. But, what the heck, perhaps 'she' had called but I didn't have my phone with me. Anyway, I was about to leave at Noon when she did arrive. Lovely lady and she helped me re-arrange a lot of the furniture/mattresses in there before we unloaded her ute.

I was warm after that... only to discover that the temperature was now 18.5C!

Groceries done after that.

I got home by 1300 and spotted 'Mad Horse Woman' in the neighbour's paddock with the local farrier doing the horse's feet. There has also her partner's ute in that paddock with a float filled with sections for a round-yard/exercise area.😮

David, how much water can you store?

We have 4 tanks, 4k each = 16,000 gals that services house and studio.

Plus 3k at cottage, with a line from house if needed to top off tank.
And 39,000 in pool, that doesn’t catch from house just normal rainfall.

Mostly, from what I gleaned from this morning.
Mine was 9th system visited. 20 systems planned.
Mine is definitely a one off, more complex than others so far.
One of the girls claimed my was hardest so far. Not sure what she meant except maybe using the ladder to get to manhole 12 ft up. Being a reformed chauvanist of sorts, I let her handle the ladder.
The team leader, Katie, had never seen a chain wrench, which I used to remove the filter housings. The existing wrench tends to break the aging ribs.
I know last week they dropped part of their siphon tool into the tank and had to be retrieved, the silicone lube they brought was actually silicon sealant.
They’ll be back in a month or so to change out the carbon filter.
At some point I get a copy of the data.

53° right now...high in the low 80's...

Stepdaughter found a bird's nest in the eaves...asked me not to mow around there for a week or two as there were chicks which will probably be learning to fly over the next couple weeks. Checked it out and yep, there's momma. Didn't hear any chicks, but I'll let it go unmown there for a while. Mowing high anyway due to the heat and not enough rain...

Back to my real job in a couple hours...

I know last week they dropped part of their siphon tool into the tank and had to be retrieved, the silicone lube they brought was actually silicon sealant.
Oooh... that happened to me, many many years ago as a young Ordinary Seaman [E3]. I performed planned maintenance on a Mk. 102 Fire Control Telescope which simply required using silicon grease (in a squeeze tube) on the internal gears. The next time the ship used the gun mount, the telescope was inoperable... to my credit and knowing that I was the last one to 'work' on it, I rummaged through the Departments toolbox and discovered that the squeeze tubes of silicon grease and silicon sealant (same manufacturer) were identical except for the words grease/sealant.

Fortunately I had simply added the sealant on top of the existing grease, so I was able to rush up and simply peel the sealant away from the telescope's gears and the gun's Fire Control System was back in 'action'.

I let my Petty Officer [E7/8] know what had happened (not hiding my mistake) so that something like this wouldn't occur again.
