The funny part about my uncle's gift to this library was he specified it was for classical British and American literature.
Hmmm, less and less of that every year;
Hmmm... I wonder if the library could expand the definition of "British" to include classical writers from the old Empire or Commonwealth? Say, for Canada, Stephen Leacock or Farley Mowat come to mind; Australia, A.B. 'Banjo' Patterson or Henry Lawson.

Good late (Friday) morning... and a Happy Canada Day! The low was just after dawn at -1.2C = a light frost, but it has quickly risen to 11C and may reach 13C. It's clear and calm.

Last evening's meeting went very well, preceded by a meal at the re-vamped Thai restaurant. I had a delicious Massaman curry with coconut rice! Yummo!

Other than that, I'll need to head into town to the PO and pick up that case of red wine.

Take care all.

Good evening all. 65ºF for the start, clear sky, light breeze. Light wind today, mostly clear sky, and high temp was 97ºF, HI 99ºF. Humidity will build up next days back to summer :(. Bike ride to start, then maintenance on Peugeot, clean and lube chain, swap front and back tires, lube Volagi chain. Sanded down flag pole to fit in mount on house. Need to put a light on the flag now. Did get a nap in.
RS hope you can get more stuff planted and have yo do less watering, nice work on Rock.
Drew Hope the mowing went well. Hope you were able to enjoy the family appearance, what happens when no literature meets the endowment requirements.
Buppies hope you get some rain soon.
Drew thanks for link.
Thomas hope mowing went well.
Billy sorry to hear Pepe is close by. Sorry about the spilled oil, that is my trick :(
Don yes, am sure, no waste water treatment plants nearby. Everything is on individual septic systems. The water intakes for golf course irrigation have to cleaned out every few years. Also we have to replace lake water used with well water. If only 1 tire, suspect castor or camber contributing to uneven tire wear.
Paul the smoked meats looked great, as well as rest of menu. hope you can help Drew with hitch on tractor.
PJ plenty warm today.
Ted hope you get more rain, sorry about the breeze level. The wind here has been lighter lately
RNG good to hear 3PH to backhoe transition went smooth. Good catch on the seat. Sorry about taxes. Hope trenching and shopping both successful.
Chris have same problem with birds wanting to nest in garage, chase them and they are back an hour or 2 later.
RS have plenty on agenda.
David sorry Sophie's eyes are taking longer to heal, prayers sent. Hope your followup went better.
Scaredy hope you can get clog taken care of. Hope car trip wen well. SIL appears to be oblivious to those around her.
Drew hope the neck was up to 5 hours mowing.
Thomas glad lawn and fields have holiday haircut :)
Ted nice job on the mulch, high humidity takes more out of you. Nice pics
Drew glad night meeting at library went well.

Audit is going fine...pretty low key, no findings (so far)

   / Good morning!!!! #152,434
going to be a hot hot day, up to 92 today (ok for PA it's hot...)
I'm trying to get up early and out early to get my mowing done.

Then home to see landlord who is coming with a contractor to consider putting a swale in the rear of this property to prevent the
road water in heavy rains from flooding the septic system. She is having major construction on her farm, has a pile of dirt apparently she wants to use for this.

txdon said, "Got new tires yesterday but the alignment was good and did not need adjustment so I still don't know what caused the premature wearing on the inside tread on the driver's side front tire. Any ideas? Tires had 26,000 miles were rotated 2 or 3 times."

That is not as unusual as some would think. Sometimes it seems there's a manufacturing flaw that isn't caught; one of the cords is defective, or broken, internally without being visible externally. I've seen that when fleet management was part of my job in the police department, and again after I retired and worked one summer in my brother's tire dealership in Alaska.

Happy “New Half-Year’s” Day!

half the year is shot.

there are 176 Shoplifting Days until Christmas.

we might get rain today, we might not. Wednesday night, while we were out to dinner, there was an impressive downpour. the edge of it stopped about 3/4 mile from our house.

BUT the sky is lightening, the birds are singing, and we are looking at the leaves and not the roots, so Thank You Lord for another day and another chance to try and get it right.

and now, time to feed the chickens.

good morning Kilroy, glad you are here. Hope the chickens were as thankful as you.

Don, if I got only 26k out of new tires, I'd be disappointed. And I have been, repeatedly.
Now if they were Michelins, I'd squawk.
Rarely will an oem spec be a really good tire unless it's a high performance car.
Tirerack.com is such a help here. You put your car/truck in there and it tells you which tires have the best ratings.
You buy one of those tires and you will sure get more than 26,000 miles.

I always wonder what the transporter vehicle does to new car alignment. If my first set of tires wore out too soon,
I think I'd get an alignment as insurance for the next set. If you don't hit anything, alignments last a long time.

Good Morning
It’s 67 now, but not for long, it’s going to top 90 with a chance of rain this evening.

It was a hot one yesterday as well, by the time I was finished with my zoom meeting it was hot enough that I didn’t feel like walking the string trimmer. About all I got accomplished was to pick up fence posts for some repairs and gates I want to add. I used my son’s truck, which meant I had to be super careful. He takes insane care of his stuff. Truck is a 2006 he’s had since new, only has 40k miles on it.
IMG_9251.jpg

Got to unload all the fence posts and stack them up in the afternoon heat, but now I can use forks or grapple to move them to where they go. Finished that and then unloaded and stacked a load of pine shaving bales in the barn. Got the trash and recycling to the street before calling it a day.

Today is mowing day. Might start with the string trimmer, then the Lazer, and then the tractor and Progressive. By the time it’s uncomfortably hot, I’ll be in the air conditioned tractor if all goes according to plan.
