I'm getting really frustrated with the mobile app, and the number of advertisements. What's bad is you're trying to scroll past them and you accidentally click on them and it opens them up.
I hate it.
I've been seeing sidebar ads on the computer lately, over on the right side of the pages. Fortunately for me, it's usually ads for music equipment, which I don't hate looking at. 😁

You could just use the web browser on your phone to read TBN, Kyle. That's all I've ever used, and it seems to work fine. I even have AdBlocker installed on the phone, and it works as well there as it does on the laptop.

89F and sunny @ 11:30, HI 101F. Attic ventilator just kicked on.

WU saying we'll be heading up to an actual high temp of 96F. If we make that, it will break the current record temp for today of 94F which was set in 1925.

Current dew point is 75F. Woman just poked Her head out and said it's like a sauna or a steam bath.

Woman suggests that there is plenty of work to do down here at the house if I don't want to go up to the shop. She makes a good point, in that it will save $$$ not having to run the AC to cool it down. Think I'm sold ... ;)

I will probably make a few trips outside to water plants at some point.

Also refill hopper feeder and clean out/top off bird bath.

Got ten cucumber seeds planted in small pots last night before I hit the rack. Probably move the tray they're in outside here in a bit to let them bake.

Possible agenda for today:

Hair cut (overdue)

Track lighting installation in the dining room.

Plant more flower seeds in starter trays.

Cleaning in the basement where it will be nice and cool.

Hope everyone has a great day, stay hydrated and cool !

So does mine when it’s parked

ZT mower is so much faster mowing. Don’t know the trade off in fuel. When I did mow field with tractor, I’d mow less often. Looks much better with ZT.

I mow with the ZT except an area in back that sometimes has foreign objects.

70°F and .01 inches rain

My brownies were a few minutes over baked but still excellent and a hit with the ladies. I did get a couple though. A good day for me, even got state taxes filed.
Makani still not keen on my piano playing, immediately goes outside.

Should be dry enough to resume mowing today.

Randy, how was your 30 day eye checkup?

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Or only cut part of what can be mowed and let the rest look natural instead of park like.
that's what some of the folks at church want, fields of daisies, who knows.
We provide perpetual care in our graveyard.
We ought to get battery operated mowers that record the locations of all the headstones and will never touch one.
Like a big Roomba mower working out there.
One thing for sure, not much movement in there...folks tend to stay put.
I think we have about 3500 graves so far. Might need a little more memory.
Next week i will mow around every one of them.
It already needs mowing since the last time I mowed. Lot of rain will do that.

though I do try, one can't please everyone.
I know several little old ladies who made sure I heard their comments about liking the Spring flowers all over the front lawn.
Ok. ok. No mowing that part til May. But the graveyard should always be "up". We are closing in on 400 years.
Lot of responsibility, particularly when I see so many members of my family already "back there".

I'm one of the graveyard cops. Looking for illegals. Plastic flowers. Solar LED lights. Vegetables.
but you will all be happy to know I looked the other way at the very small green metal John Deere tractor planted right next to
a local farmer's headstone, about two rows away from my family plots. I hope he is riding on a heavenly JD right now. 🚜

Is anyone mowing less with their tractors now that the fuel cost have doubled?

Mowing less with the tractor now but not because of fuel prices but because we got the Cub zero-turn.

If anything, I’m mowing more often now - trying to keep up with it and avoid having weeds grow to the point where they are going to seed and proliferating.

At some point, that will slow up due to the heat given that we have cool season grasses here which grow most actively in the spring and fall.

And looking outside just now, I see the lawn down here around the house is due to be cut again …

Not letting cost of fuel dictate mowing - yet. BUT as it is a 400 gal min for diesel delivery very likely I’ll be hauling 5 gal cans until prices return to reasonable. Just hope it isn’t 2 years.

Should have swapped out a Kubota for the man, you know, just to prod him. :)

Was just outside tightening the clamp on the hose for the Water Buffalo (in the sun)

It was hot but didn't seem oppressive.

Guess I am maybe acclimating to the heat.

Of course, I wasn't really doing much, but sitting on my butt in a chair when I did it ...

3,500 headstones, 20 seconds each = 19.4 hours
Lot of work!
good thing I'm not doing the weedeating. That the caretaker does.
Probably takes 8 hours to mow the whole graveyard with a smaller 48 mower like mine.
You just can't go fast in there, have to be super careful not to scrape the stone.
And after three or four hours of focusing on that left edge of the mower, you start getting sloppier.
Then it's time to call it a day and come back. So I'll do four hours instead of last time's five. half one day, half the next.

yes, perpetual, meaning forever. Why we have endowment funds specifically for the graveyard.
Current price for lot reserved and maintained in perpetuity is 1000 per lot. Plus all the burials costs which funeral home handles.

just came back, knock on door, golf cart was here. Guy did a very nice job on the prep and delivery. No scratches, like new.
was too hot to fool with, so put it in garage in shade to charge the battery. Nice that it comes with a new Club Car smart charger. No buzz.
And Trojan purple batteries.
Driver thinks if I take the spare tire off there just might be enough clearance now that it's raised to fit the rear of cart over the front rail. Then the rear gate
could likely close. I don't think it will.

think I'll fool with it later tonight or early tomorrow morning when it's cooler. Have to hook the car up first. Thank goodness for backup cameras.

Good morning (afternoon) low was 62°, high was supposed to be 90°, buts it's already 92°. Hazy sunshine, not sure if it's smoke or building humidity.

Errands are done, piece of metal picked up. Now need to get out to the shop to finish the planters.

PopG, have a nice flight.

Drew, is there a director of maintenance? That's a lot of cutting and weed eating! Does the meeting still have your old tractor?

It's been so dry here, no need to cut the fields yet. Just weeds growing in areas up against something like the driveway and fence. Why can't they just stay out in the field?

Maybe if we get some rain, things will get greener. Normally in spring it greens up, but then just doesn't grow during the early summer. No spring rain = brown.....

I'm playing chef today.... center cut chops on the grill along with smoked baked potatoes and white corn.

Gotta get out to the shop before switching hats.......

Everyone have a great day!

Does the meeting still have your old tractor?

a bleak story. When I left for NC, I left them a $6K Case IH tractor in really nice shape.
Through neglect over six years it became a non runner and I'm told it was sold for $600.

We have a caretaker and his wife, yes head of maintenance and he gets free housing and a small salary on top.
It's a lot to take care of. The house they get I think is unattractive, being right on the main road.

94F and sunny @ 15:15, HI 110F, DP 74F.

Flip-flops located in closet.

Some clean up done in basement.

Garage opened up and veggie seedlings taken outside (into the shade)

Hopper feeder refilled.

About two dozen droopy squash and pumpkin plants watered out front. That perked them right back up ... (y)

Plants in dining room watered. Looking like we are getting a good crop of coleus.

Aquarium stand planter unloaded to be taken outside.

Happy to report that not a single pot that I planted pumpkin seeds in yesterday was disturbed (I sprinkled cayenne powder on top of the soil in all of them)

Same has largely been true for the grow bags I planted the gladiolus and ranunculus in - minor disturbance on top of the dirt and then they leave it alone ... (y)

First glads are starting to pop up.

And we have the first dahlia bloom:
