when I picked up the trailer, the sales guy said the wheel lugs should be tightened at 5, 10 and 25 hours. I looked at him in disbelief.
Did get a heavy duty lug wrench.

no instructions with trailer, 125#? torque Mighty tight I'm sure.

mowed the lawn, little wet but so nice outside now. Friend says he's using his weedeater this morning so those plans are off.

Had to wash the mower it had so much wet grass on it, blew it off with leaf blower, now going to take it into garage for full grease job, where I will once again
groan at JD engineers who hide the zerks under a deep lip. What I need is a zerk extension.....hmmmm.

Good Morning!!!! 73F @ 5:15AM. Sunshine to start, then a few afternoon clouds. High 104F. Winds WSW at 5 to 10 mph.
We're under an Excessive Heat Warning until 11PM tomorrow night. It's not unusual to see these high temperatures in June, and I'm happy they're not sticking around.

Will there be a locking door with a reach through proof slot on that mailbox, Paul? With so many reports of mail theft in this neighborhood, I had to rework my box to be safe.

Good point about lug nut torque, Billy. I haven't done that since I installed the spacers on the tractor, mostly because the wheels have to come off to check the spacer lug torque. Guess I need to get off my butt and just do it, huh?

Repairing the gate opener sensor lead went better than planned yesterday, in that the wire broke where it could be easily reached, and the repair itself only involved slipping on some shrink tube and twisting the wires back together. Spent more time digging the dirt out of where the conduit was, then burying it again, than on the actual repair. It was warm enough by then to soak through a t-shirt by the time I was done.

Then got out the extension ladder and peeked into the 10,000 gallon tank to check the water level. It's still about 3,000 gallons shy of full. It's a bit alarming that the well gets pumped dry in only an hour or so this early in the year, but with the drought lasting so long it's understandable. Just have to make do, I guess.

No surprises on yesterday's town run, but I did see a new high for prices at the Diesel pump.

They raised the purchase limit to $150.00, up from only $75.00 just last year. It took another ten gallons to get to full.

No wonder inflation is so bad. Fuel price increases effect almost everything we buy, and when they double in such a short time, it sends the economy reeling.

70 outside this AM. Staying nice for today.

Lots going on. Between me and Mother Nature it's a race to keep the grass under control most every where.

Already had three ticks attached and removed this season. This is a record for me as I have been pretty good about avoiding them in the past.

The housing/farm projects continue. My Milk House project is slowly progressing. I have managed to almost break through a wall for more access to space. I have removed over 300 pounds of concrete to do it.


My electrician came in and blew my budget with a quote I doubt I will take him up on that. I will probably rewire the insides myself and get someone qualified to get the juice turned on.

I managed to get all the siding ordered and this weekend I think I will frame in the doors and pour some new concrete to close up side access.

After a dump run or two of course.

Drew, take the change in plans as a blessing.... moving around a heavy weedwacker would make something start to complain.... Good luck getting to the hidden zerks.

Paul, I have to say, that is one awesome mailbox! The sign is very nice too!

WNG, good catch on the lug nuts. Glad you saw they were missing and avoided a catastrophic issue. One would think they stocked more lug nuts in inventory.

RNG, keep those gas prices over there..... bad enough that all the Cali heat / dryness is leaking out....

Doug, hope the CPAP works for Leslie and she feels better.

Thomas, good to hear that you're behaving yourself... have a great datenight!

Morning all, sun is up, 64 going up to 80, no chance of rain until at least tomorrow......

Got the new climbing rollers for the pool robot, easy swap out.
However it took me a while as I had to remove a large snapping turtle from the pool.
Wonder if this was one of the 3 babies I saved 2 years ago?
Relocated to front of property, trying to figure out how it got into pool area, certainly too large to go through fence, so will need to find and close off wherever it dug through.

Amazed at how well armored these turtles are. and the claws, beak and tail can all do damage.
While small compared to many I've seen, this one luckily was groggy when I netted it.

66°F and light rain this morning, going up to 81° today. Chance for some boomy stuff this afternoon, then we're dry for the next week or so. We're also going to hit the triple digits Monday through Wednesday. Too early in the year for that, but here it comes nonetheless.

Mailbox looks great, Paul. But, I really want to see and know more about that lift you have it on.

Took out a frog and a slider this AM.

My auto-cleaner is down and out, so I am pool boy for a while, until I get around to it.

LS, the wall is hand troweled, 1/2 thick, on two sides. The wood behind it is 1/2 thick popular, still green in spots, after 100 years. I salvaged what I could. When the wife saw the wood she wanted all the concrete down. LOL. I told her, it might not run the length of the wall to get out of that job.

71F and partly cloudy @ 12:00, headed up to a high of around 77F. Winds light and variable. Similar for tomorrow, but mostly cloudy ...

Need to make up new cages for various trees and shrubs that have outgrown their present ones, so place Menards order for some 4' x 50' chicken wire and bird food first thing.

Figure I'll give them a circumference of 60" which will yield a diameter of just over 19" across - which ought to be big enough to get them to a point where they are not so easily damaged.

I believe the suet that I ordered previously may have come in finally, but need to check my previous orders to see if that's what the email notification is about.

Then check hopper feeder, orange half still out there this morning.

Refill and rebait chipmunk traps. Seeing much less evidence of chipmunks and digging in potted plants so apparently reducing the population is having an effect. Need to try sprinkling some of that cayenne powder in pots/bags of The Woman's flowers and see if that deters them at all.

Load the last two bags of mulch into the dump cart and get it placed, probably over on the east planting bed. May see if there are any spots where I can shoehorn a few more plants in.

Tighten up screw on hose on Water Buffalo, fill, and check it for leaks.

Have some spraying I need to do on the east side of the frog pond and the northwest planting bed so will fill up the hand pump sprayer and get that done.

Probably head down to Menards later and pick up orders.

Big heat wave on the way for next Tue/Wed - calling for a high of 91F on Tuesday and 96F on Wednesday. That will likely be the next opportunity for working on the Kubota, unless it rains in the meantime.
