Good morning all

55° now highs in the upper 70’s and sunny, partly cloudy this afternoon and light winds.

Yesterday turned into an energy conservation day. I started out weeding some of the garden but knees went south after 15 minutes. I have used a garden kneeler thingy with extra padding and handles to help get up for a few years, that’s not going work anymore. Maybe try one with the seat and wheels? Sitting isn’t anywhere near as bad as getting stuck kneeling down lol. So that and the pine pollen plugging up my breathing I decided a fresh coffee and a couple of old westerns was in order.

Not sure what today will bring probably more energy conservation.

Enjoy your day everyone
Stay safe and healthy

Morning all, 54 going up to 83. and sunny.

Spent most of yesterday trimming bushes, taking down some stray weeds grass and moving some logs around. Ended up as 6 hours straight work, but finally starting to catch up on all the delays dealing with the dead Ash trees.
Still need to refinish bar, fell another big ash and start milling some planks for friends. Oh, and powerwash the lower deck.

Stay safe and be well,

Scaredy, I think they were 11 cents a plate and yes they are more compostable, within two years. Paper takes a few years longer apparently and is often coated with stuff
you might not want around your veggies. I'll let you know how they work out. Might nibble on one corner too... ;)
Drew the real green comes with the set with includes cups, straws, and utensils. One place setting about $1. Our WFPB group has been considering such for our potlucks and the acceptance is varied. I think we should just stick to our health issues and just concentrate on what goes into the body, others want compostables and some want to bring their own plates and utensils. I like to keep it simple and inexpensive and concentrate on. what goes on the plate. Why save the earth while clogging up arteries.

Good morning! Today begins the 100˚+ days and no rain for the 10 day forecast and possibly beyond. They have called for more trail work this afternoon between 3 and 6pm. Not going to happen for me today I have been to the hospital for IVs twice from heat exhaustion and dehydration. You just can't drink enough water when you pass a certain point and just the sight of water makes you start feel like you are going to throw up, and you start to CRAVE an IV. Some things can wait till Fall or a freak cool 80˚ Summer day.
The grass is dry, no dew, so an early morning mow while it's still below 90˚.

Buppies, I have watched a bunch of those boating videos and it looks to me like the big catamarans handle the waves best but even if I sold my house I couldn't afford one of those beauties.

"pine pollen plugging up my breathing"

NHBX, That's where left over masks might come in handy. Didn't some of the Tractor Boys use Wolf snouts masks when mowing?

69°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 77° today. Expecting some rain through the day, and probably most of this week.

Appreciate all the concern over my absence. Thanks to those who reached out. I'm fine. Just took a little break. I was still lurking, though. Can't get too far behind with you guys.

They do help, right up until they get wet from sweating. I've used N95 masks since long before "that which must not be named". Most of my breathing troubles stem from being a smoker early in my wayward youth and working in some really crappy jobs early on.

My dad was a 20 year old boy on the morning of June 6, 1944, he was man by noon that day. Dad got “volunteered” to transfer from artillery to the Quartermasters about six weeks before the invasion. Their mission was to land first and preposition ammo and equipment for the main forces when they landed. Only a handful of those first LCMs made it to shore. My dad was 5’7” tall, the landing craft drivers were scared kids and stopped short of the beach. Dad stepped off the ramp and immediately sank over his head. Luckily a a tall farm boy type was right behind him and kept picking him up and shoving him forward until he could walk on the bottom. That was their first run, he made several more over the first few days, carrying equipment in and wounded out.
Thanks dad, and all your buddies, for the freedom we have today.

75F and partly cloudy @ 11:00, headed up to a high of around 81F. Forecast is for more clouds than sun with the possibility of a stray shower or thunderstorm, with rain more likely tonight.

Glad I checked on the mulch last night after I posted - Menard's had put it back on sale through 6/5. So I was able to place an order for another 50 bags just under the wire ... (y)

Plans for today (if not raining):

Refill/rebait chipmunk traps.

Refill hopper feeder, check to see if orange half is still hanging tough. If not, replace.

Some planting.

Some weeding.

Take the dump cart up and grab some more screened compost to make up some potting mix since I used up all I had yesterday.

Probably should mow down here around the house before the rain arrives.

If/when it starts raining I'll be headed up to the shop to work on the Kubota.

Woman is headed out to pick up a prescription before She gets (in Her words) "all hot and sweaty outside" ...

Will have Her pick up a couple of gallons of gas for the Cub while She's out.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe Monday ... (y)

RS, do you realize how much squash all those plants are going to produce?

Yup, sure do.

It will be quite a bit.

My back is already hurting at the thought of having to pick, load, and transport all of it ...

You'll need a farm stand.

And a place to put it (we're really too far off the beaten path to get much in the way of traffic ... ;) )

Even better, find your local food bank/pantry and donate the
big stuff to them.

That is the plan, already in contact with one of the managers at one of the local ones ... ;)

I am growing yellow egg shaped squash, and most will go to neighbors and food pantry.

(y)

I've already offered some of the plants to friends and relatives, just waiting for them to pick them up.

I ate so much squash as a kid, thank you Dad, I swore I'd never eat
more again... I look at green zucchini now and just groan in memory.

It's still pretty popular here (and I ate a lot of it as a kid)

We like to sautée it up along with the yellow squash and some onions as a side dish whenever we have kielbasa. Sometimes have it with other main courses as well.

Of course there's always zucchini bread, which Mom and The Woman used to make as well.

Stuffed zucchini, etc.

find someone who needs a kindness today.

Good morning to all! Low was 57°, going up to 88°, sunny and light breezes at 1015 mph.

Buppies, thanks for posting the video..... that was some rough breakwater! I was also surprised to see not many people wearing flotation devices. Especially the small kiddos. I would have looked at that surf and said NOPE! Not gonna happen.

Drew, did you ever do rough water like that? Something tells me you were a bit more cautious......

PJ, glad to see you back! We all need a break every now and then.

Now, where are the other MIA's?
