Good morning!!!!

Morning all, sunny and warm.

Now that the mower is ready for action and fully welded, I am working on the raking and cleanup.
Raked out the front beds for about5 barrows full.

Started the garden raking, that is a bit more work as the brickwork makes it hard to use the metal rake. But I need to use it to get the more stubborn grasses and stems cleared.

Then took the tractor for a spin to dig a big hole for a large bush being delivered this week.

4 hours straight work and still did not get to planting anything.....Still catching up.

Sorry to hear that Buppies. I hope their removal goes well. What a pain.

Stay safe and be well,

One of the complaints for the BH thumb was it limits the amount of dirt you can dig.
I had absolutely no problems digging a 4 foot by 4foot round hole. So not sure why other are having problems. I still need to trim the end off one bolt in order to fully stow the thumb, but it is pretty far back even without using that last hole.
Picked up some big sticks without getting off the tractor. So nice !

I've been watching long enough now so that I recognize properties when their prices change, and I'm seeing a fair number of price reductions. All those rising prices are pushing people out of the market, so maybe sales will slow until things get back to more realistic levels. That's how it's supposed to work, anyway.
The interest rates will push some out of the market so prices on some properties will drop.

I watch the market in my areas pretty closely. Prices drop on SOME properties every day. But most, especially nice ones are still drawing multiple offers over asking prices.

One nice place (nice but not spectacular) I would say would appeal to most middle class buyers wanting a few acres and a decent house went on the market for $320k. 7 acres with a 3 stall horse barn. Rock and cedar 2 BR house about 1800+ feet. Nice level, cleared lot, fully fenced, some x fence, Rock entrance with gravel drive way. 2 car carport with a large area above for storage.
It drew 14 offers in a week. The buyer got it for $350k, in cash, waived inspections and is paying most closing costs. He said he was selling gold to pay for it.

I expected it to go for more. If it’s nice it will bring all the money.

Most of the morning chores are done...mower is still charging, but that's expected. That normally take 2-3 hours
Neighbor borrowed my aerator, but also something expected. I'll be aerating my lawn soon too
Dropped the blade off and put the loader bucket on for the summer. If I need the forks, I'll rig them as necessary
Garage is pretty much cleaned out...still need to get rid of a bunch of boxes though. Might just burn then though
Reckon I'm pretty much done for today...time for a shot and a beer

Didn’t take long to charge ZT battery enough to start it, then moved charger to truck. Dug out a heavier extension cord.

Mowed the front and side, everything I didn’t do when I did back and field Friday think this is 3rd mowing except field which is 1. Wasn’t planning on mowing today though, now all dirty

Still no halyard on flag pole.

Lying on porch swing with a little breeze and wind chimes singing.

A very good morning to all. Woke up at 0230 and the outside temp was 13C! It cooled down to 9C by the time that the ANZAC Day Dawn parade/service started at 0550. Beautiful clear sky and calm... 400+ 'civvie' crowd and I reckon I had to wrangle 40 or so veterans. Later, it was into the RSL for rum/coffee and story swapping. I've nipped home but will head back into town for the second parade and wreath laying at 1100 when it's predicted to warm up to 18C.

That's it for now. Take care all.

We got all the dog food done and into the freezer. By the time I got everything cleaned up, the breezes kicked in. No strong wind, just cooling light breezes. A bit to strong for the R/C's, so took advantage of nice weather and spread about 30 bags of mulch. Halfway done with this bed. Tired me out for sure.

A couple pics as a feeble attempt to keep up with RS and Ken.....

The area adjacent to the block is going to get a stone walkway, then some more smaller beds dispersed throughout what we are now calling "the courtyard". Not sure if we'll get to do it this summer.... but we have high hopes to get it done.

Time to get a long hot shower and relax for the evening.

71F and "Fair" @ 21:00, headed down to a low of 65F overnight. Definitely an "open windows sleeping night".

Finished coring the front, did some more on the sides and back down around the house.

Mowed all down around the house, and did some more on the front including mowing down some dandelions on parts previously mowed. Lots of sticks picked up. Still an area out front that I'm avoiding due due to being wet. Might try to hit that tomorrow and finish it off before the rain moves in, in the afternoon.

Had to run down to the corner and get some gas as the Cub was running low. About the time I was set to leave I realized that two five gallons were full of new K-1 for the parts washer and the other one was full of had I what I drained out of the parts washer so far.

After I got back and refueled, I took the Cub up to the shop and grabbed the five gallon can with the drainage and took it down to the barn and emptied it into the ORD tank. Now, I can finish cleaning out the parts washer this coming week.

Hosta popping up all everywhere ... that The Woman was certain had been devoured by the deer ... ;)

Mr. and Mrs. Mallard have been hanging around quite a bit:

IMG_1610 copy.jpg

Must like the cracked corn I've been putting out ... :giggle:

Squeak is utterly fascinated by them ... I think she is having visions of a duck dinner.

They probably weigh as much as she does, if not more ...

Hope everyone had a good day ... (y)

Good work, and while I'm on the subject, I meant to give Sodamo some kudos for doing a great job on the caretaker's place.

Good evening all. 70ºF for the start, partly cloudy, windy. Wind dropped off through day until front passage at 2 then rebounded slightly. Sky clouded up, first rain at 1 PM then waves , last wave is almost done. Checked rain gauge earlier, over 2 inches in it. High temp was about 73ºF at about 10AM, low forecast for 54ºF at midnight. Chapel this morning, made pancakes for breakfast. Cleaned up some of the piles of catkins by side and front doors. Then moved in and worked on Katy trail prep, and napped. Had to change thermostat back to heat! This is only the second rainfall over 1 inch this year.

Well, the macadamia tree is almost gone. I was in my barn chamoiing the Mustang. My wife appeared at the door and said she needed another battery for the chainsaw. Huh? She said she was chopping the tree down and was lopping branches and only had one branch to go that she could reach. I thought I better go and see what the heck she was doing. Hopped on my scooter and just before I moved, the dogs barked and ran around the house. Strange! Anyway when I got to the tree I found my wife lying on the ground under a ladder and huge branch. I extracted her and she was covered in grazes and bruises and huge blood blister.
"I fell off the ladder" she said. "I can see that" I said. She apparently was standing on top of the 8 ft aluminium ladder reaching up to cut this 5" round branch off. Of course when it came down it took her with it. I could hardly believe it.
I told her she should never go up a ladder with a chainsaw. I think she got the message.
I said "you've bent the ladder". She said, "well now you can buy a better one." I said "that was a better one". Today she has iodine on all her scratches and bruises. Lots of them. But other than that she is OK. Luckily the chainsaw missed her and survived with no damage. Hopefully she has learned from the experience. I wasn't aware she was getting up to mischief until the dog alarm. Here she is a little later. That's the branch that took her down. Can't stop a good woman.
Oh, she did ask, "is my chainsaw all right?" Whose chainsaw?

Sure glad your wife is OK, Doug. Sorry about bent ladder.
Always concerned when my wife has her little chainsaw. I take a little hope that being electric it should shut off.
