48F and sunny @ 08:30, headed up to a high of 67F supposedly.

Got another 7 strawberry plants potted last night before I ran out of soil in the bucket here in the house. Didn't feel like navigating the obstacle course in the garage to go get more so called it quits.

Got a bunch more plant labels made up including for all The Woman's dahlias, but now running low on labels.

Hopper feeder refilled first thing. Added raisins this time but forgot to soak them in hot water before I did. Might see about relocating it, along with the nyjer feeders later today.

Next on the menu is a trip to Menards since the orders are ready.

Beyond that some weeding around peach tree on the east side of the front lawn and maybe get some more bulbs planted there after adding some screened compost.

Finish potting the last couple of strawberry plants.

Move plants around back where they will get more sun.

Possibly finish coring the front.

Then later start mowing up at the top where it should be drier.

Have some PT 2 x 4's I need to cut for the new frame for the soil screener as well.

Hoping for good resolutions for top, Buppies, and Roy.

61°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 84° today. We got a little rain overnight, so everything was wet this morning.

Boss already told me he's playing golf today. Jerk.

Got a bunch of stuff done after work last night. Washed some eggs, put away the clean dishes from the dishwasher, did a couple loads of laundry, and still found time to record some guitar solos, keyboard, and cello tracks for a cover song project. Productive evening.

Always love seeing enthusiastic young QC guys, Paul. I also fondly remember from 50-ish years ago that same enthusiasm for time spent with my grandfather on his tractor.

first are tulips on corner of Street and 202 in Lahaska, and second are two brown nuts that somehow found their way into the mower engine.
As in tree nuts. And of course that star drive fitting is one size larger than any of the bits I have so I ordered a new star drive assortment.
Need to get the top off to get those nuts out before they get all over the place

2nd booster yesterday. Feel fine except mild headache and a bit blah. Think I’ll take an ibuprofen and ease into the day. Most people we have seen at clinic in all 4 shots. Looking around I remarked it must be Seniors Day. No DQ as we would have had to wait more than an hour to open.

Guys won H&F last night after a very nice meal.

I believe mine are the Merrill Moab, I really like them.

I just looked and mine are Merrill Moab. They spend a lot of time in the woods and in mud and are holding up ok.
These are waterproof version, so a bit warm in summer.

Good afternoon! Low this morning was 50°, hit our high of 80°. Currently in the midst of another dust storm.... highest gust so far was 60mph, but some areas just to the north of here hit 72 mph! Now they are saying the wind will continue into tomorrow.

Ran into town and did some errands, the whole city was under a cloud of dust....it's statewide... saw on the news they issued a "dust storm warning " up around the four corners area. First time I have ever seen a true 'warning'.

The wildfires are again "blowing up", severely out of control. Aircraft are grounded (of course), winds just fanning the flames.... There are attempts to evacuate multiple towns/communities. Not gonna end well......

They finally arrested a woman for starting the fire at our local Walmart last November. It took long enough.... and only happened because she returned to the same Walmart and was caught shoplifting..... but she escaped and a short police pursuit ensued. A 30 y/o meth head.....

I think I am going to re-start my property search......

A question for my friends in Texas..... what is the area east / SE of the DFW like? Is it really green? If it is green, are there many severe storms? Another area I'm considering is the S and SW of DFW. Same type of terrain and weather?

Time to go get a snack and relax.

Checked out the tractor's rear remotes and the snow blower's fittings...all appear to be fine, so it appears the hose fittings took the bunt. I'll be taking the hoses to the dealer tomorrow for repair or replacement.
Looking at the snow blower, the hoses pulled the implement a good 2 feet before the fittings broke.
Snow tires in the shed until next winter...
Dump run tomorrow, but I'm done for today, I reckon

Finally got the last section clean rake road frontage 7 1/2 buckets stones gravel pieces of tar limbs branches from highway department plowing and wing back snow banks and we live on tar road.
Chainsaw saw already for some action tomorrow even purchase new file $7.25 gallon gas $4.19 file handle $3.50 guess it better than doing it with ax.

Feet up night and early to bed.

Eric, Where are you? or should I say "Are you there?" Is that still the standard phone answer when someone calls you and you pick up?

I'm in a bad spot with the solar power system, even if I win in small claims. The contractor that put it in is refusing to honor the warranty, and has done so from day one. None of the local installers I talked to prior to ending up with the one I did knew anything about integrating a generator and battery backup; they just slap up grid tied solar panels. I have one left to try, but they're pretty new on the scene and it's not lookin' good. Worst case, I end up in superior court and sue for the cost of a replacement system, but that'll mean bringing in an attorney and for sure drag this out into the summer when I need backup power the most. What a mess.

I don't remember if you ever told us what you held back from him, to motivate him to finish....but, I would let him know what you just might do if he carries through with it. You might scare him back into his hole. If the hold back money is many grands, maybe just reiterate him coming to get your system better. I'm not even sure if I remember what the main problems are. I remember a big load problem, is that all? I'm wondering if the system may not have been intended to have big sudden loads pulled on it (like starting up a lathe)? If so, he mis-represented it. If not, he's ignorant of fixing it. I'm sorry for not remembering the details to clearly. I'll out bid Drew by offering $3 (for the tip when you come down to eat some Tex Mex with me. )

When the spring cool front thunderstorm events come through Texas, usually DFW is smack dab in the crosshairs IMO. That being said, there are nice areas around there. You would have to look at individual places, because 1 mile can be a barren area, and the next mile could be nice bottom land with many trees. East Texas has scads of pine forests and red iron dirt. 1 thing is for sure, land is going up high here....and fast. As you get south close to the Gulf of Texas, tornadic weather is greatly reduced. Humidity levels are high most of the year....our lips never crack until we come see y'all. Here in central Texas, I35 kind of makes a geographic dividing line between the humid SE and the drier hill country. Different types of flora and fauna. West of it is more limestone soil, and east is clay(which is hard on foundations) or sandy humous soils. If money was no object, I'd have a water front home on Scenic Drive in Austin Texas...It wouldn't be my only home, but just an Austin on the lake home. LOL. (I probably just helped double the value of those homes overnight, just mentioning them on the net...) The ranch that Don lived on was really nice. He preferred to leave it fairly natural. Some people would clear out the underbrush, and leave the post oaks on land like that. Just whatever type look you prefer. A lot of people like the weather in Corpus Christi, but it's flat. My mom lived down there and says you could stick any plant in the ground and it would grow. Some people don't like flat land. Some prefer hills. so many things to ponder.

Good evening all. 69ºF for start, overcast. windy. Windy all day and through tonight. Sky was mostly cloudy early then partly cloudy afternoon, high temp was 82ºF, DP 62ºF. Bike ride in morning, supposed to go to Medal of Honor winners parade at 11:30 but wife napping . got route in GPS for tomorrows ride in Muenster tomorrow. Got nap in, then grilled brats for dinner. Getting bike ready for transport tonight.

Good morning all (at least it was until I started reading the posts ). Another 'cold' night with a low of 3C, currently 22.4C... it sure warmed up quick. Otherwise a beautiful calm and cloudless day.

My dress boots (RM Williams) are now polished and all else is in readiness for Monday's parades; one at dawn (0550) followed by a wreath laying parade at 1100. The ANZAC Day Dawn Service is especially moving and the 'turn out' keeps growing in numbers from the 'civilian' population. A local 'tradition' is to have our local high school children read out the names/age/town of EVERY fallen serviceman from our Shire (county). WWI & WWII. We (this Shire) didn't loose anyone during Viet Nam/Peacekeeping/Afghanistan.

A quiet day otherwise.

Went to the club and 4 of us explored the countryside flying our drones. It was a good day until I got a phone call that necessitated me racing home and taking a dog to the vet. He had swallowed a macadamia nut and vet made him vommit it up so all is well. Now I have a macadamia tree to get rid of and need to pick up hundreds of nuts out of the grass somehow. Any volunteers? (I thought not) .

Good morning, low temp is 38 and going to 41°F. Wind E 13 mph. A few showers.

The Markham trip went good. the best thing about it is that I get paid at my 'tanker' rate for all 2.5 days of meetings. got my medical done for my license, so I am good to go in that respect. I got the 25 pounds of smoked belly pork I ordered and the SSQA and still got home yesterday in time for supper.

A week ago last Thursday I told you all that I would elaborate on a statement I made about an unscheduled trip to North Bay. The short story is that on that day the DIL went to the hospital to get the port put into her heart for her planned doctor assisted suicide. Last Tuesday while I was 'down south' she went through with it. She had put it off three times, but not this time. At least she is not in pain anymore. Fibromyalgia and arthritus along with COPD was kicking the stuffing out of her. Most of the time she was all goobered up on hydromorphone and lorazapam.
Well she can now meet all of our pets at the rainbow bridge.
Now the house clear out can happen...All the 'stuff' she made Junior buy that she knew she would never use, complete brand new in the box dish sets, pots and pans, dust collectors, books and what not.

It looks like I will be back to work sometime around the end of May. The powers that be claim that they are happy to see me back. I think that is mainly because my buddy and I are the only two drivers that are willing to leave town and come back 4 months later with the foreman as happy as a pig in mud. We both haul the tar that is used for 'surface treating', poor mans asphalt. Our area of operations is anywhere from North Bay, ON to Kenora, ON. We haul about 6 million Litres or 1.5 million US gallons of oil in that time frame. we haul it and the crew takes it from us and lays it down.
It is a good gig. Made me $35,000.oo + a little bit last summer. I get to fish in some of the very best fishing lakes in Ontario and the good thing there is that I don't need a fishing license because I am over 65.

First on the agenda for today is to go back to bed for few few more winks. I feel as if I got ripped off for 20 of my normal 40 winks today.

Regarding the coral snakes in the potato patch, will moth balls liberally scattered under the plants help to keep them away?

The Merril hiking boots I wear for work are 'Select warm'
I wear them year round except when the snow is over 8" deep. When working in them, I only really wear them for loading and unloading the tar I haul, I have a pair of slippers I wear for driving.

good morning all
rainy morning, then clearing to high of 68. Yesterday was so nice, no complaints.
my goal was to drive down to Langhorne, about 20 miles South of here, for the
town's Edward Hicks day. If you don't know who he was, no shame, local Quaker painter from 1700s who
notably painted "Peaceable Kingdom". Not sure I want to walk around in the rain but promised the guy who is dressed up as Edward Hicks, from my church, I'd try.

Burpee emailed me, said my tomato and pepper plants were being shipped in two days. I'm ready. Only thing left is to find a couple of eggplants at local nursery. I don't enjoy them but they are such an interesting veggie to grow and folks who like eggplants really like my smaller ones, maybe less pithy inside. Without a really good red sauce on top, I'm not
much of an eggplant person. I'm growing squash also, and like the eggplants, give it all away.
I wish it were warmer here, would like to grow some red okra again. Someone "up here" must like it. Bet I could send some to Toppop...
it is a hot weather plant and I don't think growing season is right here for it, though I did see one hybrid being offered in this area by seed companies.

Bill the picture of you driving that gigantic rig in your slippers is just perfect.
I hope the upset, sadness and drama of family calms down for you. Sorry you all had to go through this.

Doug, you probably have a hundred bucks worth of macadamia nuts lying around. Not so easy to shell I think.
I think it's the most expensive nut you can buy. David has them nearby and you do too.
