40° rain and a little sleet mixed in has started.

Working from home, got a new project on my plate, some I can do remote. Perfect timing since I don’t feel great.
Time for a video meeting.

Those eggs we bought at local supermarket. Nothing fancy, but great looking and tasteful. In general (almost) all food in Italy is A+ grade. They are crazy for that

Our old folks are eating a lot of bread. Even though diet doctors don't recommend it. In my part of EU (North) there is a thing - rye bread. It is almost black. Do you know that ? It is considered as more healthy than wheat products

I haven't (yet) visited US, but our people who have been, especially old farts are complaining about your bread. To be frank American steaks (actually all kind of meat) they found great. But your bread and all flour products have a lot of room for improvement.

You’ve obviously never had my homemade biscuits or southern style cornbread.

I don’t recall ever having Wonder bread at home. Likely my parents thought it too expensive. Choices went from the cheapy stuff to homemade or biscuits (the best). My maternal grandmother always had Wonder bread. One of my fond winter memories is toasting it on the old fashioned wood fired kitchen stove that appeared every winter. Must have been the catalyst for me to replace our electric range during the 70’s oil crisis. She had those broad, non serrated table knifes that were more akin to a chemist spatula. We would use one to smash down the bread while toasting, resulting in a a totally flat, except the crust, well browned square of delicious.

Loved bread in Europe. When we stayed in Berlin prior to our Danube cruise I’d walk every morning just to get fresh baked brotchen.

37F and light, fine snow @ 13:00, which should transition over to rain as our temperature reaches today's high of 39F.

Lots of birds out at the hopper feeder this morning, will likely have to refill it later today. The birds included a number of red-winged blackbirds, which typically we don't see here at the house all that often ... but seem to be seeing with increasing frequency. Have not seen any cedar waxwings yet this year. I may add some dried raisins to the feed and see what that gets us if anything.

Got some of the early-bearing strawberries potted yesterday but still have a ways to go to finish them. Unclear at this point whether or not I'll have enough suitably sized pots. Some of the roots are pretty long and I really hate to prune them although I guess if I do, it could spur further root development.

After I finish those then it will be on to the asparagus.

Need to get a gallon of neem oil solution made up today and get The Woman's Hibiscus sprayed as well.

Finally, on a sad note, The Big Orange Cat's condition seems to be continuing to deteriorate: his breathing is labored, he isn't eating much, and the weight loss is more apparent. Barring some miraculous turn-around, I don't think he has much longer to go ... :(

Good afternoon. 40 and still raining. Has rained most of the day. But the bright side, it may be near 80 this weekend.

just puttered in the garage yesterday. Cleaned up a bit and dabbled at some projects. Got the flat tire off the NH. Took it to be fixed today, got a battery for the Craftsman garden tractor I don’t like. Friday the battery was reading 11.8V after running (and showing charge), Saturday it was 11.6, today it was 12.5V after being ignored. I have seen odd changes in voltage before, not sure how old it is, so for $24.50, it is being replaced.

Wife made turkey, broccoli, stuffing, and candied Yams for Easter. It was tasty.

I would overall say the run of mill bread that is available in the US is pretty poor compared to European choices. But there are exceptions with homemade and some of the small bakeries. locally I can get some European style breads ands rolls, including pumpernickel rye bread that is actually pretty good. Sure makes it nice to have a choice of decent breads, especially when it is time for some Greek Farmers Salad.

Everyone stay safe out there

Just read tonight's forecast...3-5 inches of snow
Not going to rig the snow blower, but I reckon I'll drop the pallet forks and rig the front blade

It’s called Wonder Bread, cause it makes you wonder if it’s bread.

I remember bread 10 for $1.

Dropped to 37° and .35” rain so far. NWS now say 7” snow in mountains.

just starting to sprinkle now but I see storms not far off and now a flood alert and up to two inches of rain.
Going to be a damp night for sure. Which just may mean the dreaded white stuff for North of here.

Planted ten Burpee golden egg squash seeds, knew better not to use the whole packet, stuff crawls everywhere.
Will give rest of seeds to a friend. That fills up the veggie garden until the tomatoes and peppers get here.

Roy if you do get snow, would you get some help with it? If you are having chest pains you should not be shoveling snow.

RS, sorry about your cat.

have a safe evening.
