Not exactly the day I envisioned. I think the neighbor is back up and running. Appeared to still be a problem with the fused control cable from the battery. Connections now soldered vs connectors.
Gen battery also low requiring jump from my lithium jump pack. Checked after running a bit, still no start without boost. Suspect the Battery Tender may not be functioning, at least no voltage coming out, but I don’t know if it must be battery connected to function. Suggested she replace.

Got out of there in time to have a cup of coffee before heading for haircut.

Not sure what happened at brewery, no porter available and seemed to take forever to get the Volcano Red. They didn’t have a filled 5gal keg apparently.

Just came directly home after brewery and had a late lunch. Actually we’ve had dinner at that time

Anyway, done for the day and joining the feet up crew.

Follow up on the red chevy truck that got spun around on it's side in the tornado Monday.

He is 16 years old and was on his way home from an interview for a job at What-a-Burger. He was driving the family truck.
Chevrolet like the publicity and is giving him a new truck.

I’m rethinking taking this job offer. Maybe it’s better to eat the green grass in my pasture, at least what’s left of it. Found out today several people transferring to another division due to our work slowdown. Maybe I’ll stick around and see what happens. Work not slow for all groups, just one I’m in.

For retirement, Been crunching more numbers. Also adjusting my quicken some more. I’m concerned I’m underestimating needed funds. I
meet with financial guy again in 2 weeks to see what else he has after our first discussion.

Think my new strategy will be to look for work I can do remote, save the drive time and gas. Financial guy thinks I’m ok now, but that’s based on what I thought I needed. If that’s low, everything is off.

PJ, hope your planning goes well.

Overcast foggy day today.

Good Morning.

Today will start out with breakfast with a friend, then see what mischief I can get to in the shop. I got a shipment of woofers in yesterday, I’ll have to see what other parts are going to be a challenge. I’m thinking that I need to stock up on Baltic Birch while I can get it.
Good Morning

As inhabitant of Baltics I am curious - what are you calling "Baltic Birch" ?

Well Dennis, I’m sure you have observed that we have a good selection of retirees here on GM. And I’d guess we budget and spend. Personally this years budget differs significantly than 5 years ago, 10 years ago, heck, 2 years ago. Income less significant changes.

Good morning, low temp 32 and high to 37°F. Wind WSW 2 mph. Snow mixed with rain. 2cm/1" more or less.

I'm up way too early, but with nothing 'pressing' I can always go back to bed for a nap later.

The XLT mower is two steps higher than I wanted, the next one up from the cheapest has a Kohler engine. I've got one Kohler boat anchor now and certainly do NOT want another one. On the cheaper 'Avenue' the deck flips up vertical, on the XLT it doesn't go all the way to vertical. The Avenue is $3,000.oo cheaper than the XLT. And then there is the 13% tax on top of that.
Decisions, decisions.

I drove in freezing rain once this past winter and as far as I am concerned that was once too often. (DIL was in hospital and wanted to come home). I may be a 'professional driver', but that is still no excuse. Sure I know how to and have done it for work other times, but if it is not an absolutely necessary trip why chance it?

Yorkshire pudding is great right after it comes out of the oven, but the next day they are as hard as hockey pucks. So 4 day old YPs are even harder still, we throw them out on the front lawn and watch the Ravens fight over them. They sure are strong fliers, they pick up a YP and off they go with it.

We are headed the wrong way temperature wise for the next few days. A polar vortex is to blame. I've always said, "don't sell March short, we get some of our worst storms in March". This polar vortex is setting up for 'lake effect snow'. OH joy.(n)

Today will be an energy conservation day for sure.

Have a safe day all

35° right now...feels colder since it's so damp. High in the low 50's and more rain...good for the well.

Training was OK...went into Behavior Safety....now, we're a machine shop with 60some employees. And a very good safety record. Since corporate mandates this training, al sites have to endure it, even if it's not particularly applicable

Got some customer issues to deal with today...

aaaahh.
We have that saying: "prophet at his own house is not recognized" :D

I did't knew it's branded "Baltics" now.
Actually, it's not "Baltic", but solely Latvian. A/S Latvijas Finieris (finieris.com) is world's biggest BIRCH plywood factory. Their HQ is like 10 km from my home.
I have supplied 2 big CNC machines for their "daughter" which does further machining of panels. That "daughter" is not selling plain "panels" anymore, but already products: acoustic walls, concrete form-works (shuttering), trailer floors, etc For the latest I mentioned - normally at US you put on your trailer's decks softwood timber. Quite thick. We instead put 12 ... 18 mm thick plywood covered with anti-slip fenol resin soaked mesh film. It's lighter, more durable. For instance 18 mm thick 1200 X 2400 mm coverd with Riga Hex panel costs ~ 60 $. And it wil last lifetime

As it normally is, big whale is surrounded by bunch of smaller fishes here we have handful of smaller companies, making interesting consumer products from birch veneer.
Good friend of mine runs company, which makes bicycles out of birch plywood: https://legandgo.com/
Really quality product. My own twin boys rode that thing like crazy. They used to jump on speed bumps like that frame become straight

And we can make really nice looking furniture out of birch plywood- interesting shapes, lightweight, strong. here are some of my pictures - most challanging pieces for painting robot

I thought Winter was over, however it's 33° degrees this morning, but going for a sunny 79°. I've got a 7:30 a.m. appointment with my dentist, or her assistant, just to have my teeth cleaned this morning and nothing more planned for today.

Good Morning
It’s 40 outside, with a high near 60 today.
Much nicer day than yesterday, thunderstorms last night as front came through clearing things out.

Yesterday was spent ordering and collecting things for a batch of speakers. A few challenges, but I’m back in the leaker business. My supplier only had 10 sheets of Baltic Birch in the thickness that I use, so I bought them all, fearing that once this is gone, it’s going to be scarce. At $106 for a 5x5 sheet, you wouldn’t expect a run on it, but they had 13 sheets the day before. I paid about $38 a sheet a year ago.

I’m off to Asheville again this morning, but just a quick down and back. Well, not so quick going down, I’ll have a 120kt headwind. But the ride home will be quick. Should be driving home before noon. Then I’ll start cutting up those sheets of gold.

good morning all
42 going up to 60 today, nice sunny day
total .66 rain from yesterday, grass is greening up.

Off this morning to take truck to sales place, then lunch with friend from church
where we try to solve all the problems of the world. May be a long lunch...

Don, glad Carvana worked for you. My truck has 92k miles, might be too much for internet sellers.

David, I left suburbia and bought a farm, needed a lot of stuff, then sold the farm and all that stuff went on to others.
My family sold 99 percent of what I owned, thinking I wasn't getting out of assisted living. I wish they had a Plan B, but
so be it. So I've had to buy a lot of stuff back again. Cars? always having fun with them, but hope to do less of that in future.

Helogabals, nice pics, glad to have you part of GM thread
