No, I lost a few grand on the Genesis but last year made an extra six grand selling the Audi at top of market. And I will get my money out of truck.
So...kind of a wash. But at least no loss. Didn't know my truck was a rotter or the car had a bad rear end.
The car and truck were first used vehicles I had bought since high school. I think I'll stick with CPO or new from now on, though likely I'll have this Volvo a long time.

At least six months, right. LOL

I don’t buy and sell like I use to, since I was 16 I’ve had 146 vehicles, so I can empathize.

Morning all, 45 and more rain, must be spring!
Heat is working, all is right.

Kyle - glad all is ok, sounds very scary
Drew - Need to check out the new ride :)

We'll see if I can finish unpacking the car from the stuff my brother gave me. Anyone need some big coolers?
Got some rafting tubes, those I can store, and a few tools. Nice old sander and a skilsaw. Need to see what shape that is in.

Got a picture from my cousin showing us as kids with Moms and dads and grandparents. Really neat to see everyone so young.

One line I never hear, do these chainsaw chaps make me look fat :)

Stay safe and be well,

Ahhh, cranking numbers, fun, fun, fun.

I’m sure you know, a year goes by faster every year.

Ain’t that the truth.

I did check, no alligator bites.

37°F and light rain this morning, going up to 45° today. Looks like the rain will be done with us sometime early afternoon. Three days was enough.

Wife is off to visit our new investment guru. Time to start getting a better idea of when I can stop doing this everyday, and join the retired ranks. I'm already ready.

Those are always fun pics, Ken.

Good Morning!!!! 61F @ 8:00AM. Sun and clouds mixed. High 84F. Winds light and variable.

Glad you and the family are OK, Kyle. I'll bet that is an evening the kidos'll never forget!

If you end up with a BMW CPO, Drew, it's no guarantee there still won't be problems. After five new issues, I got rid of the only BMW car I've had, and won't be buying another one. You're not the only one with problems, either. My friend in Klamath Falls bought what he was told was a Jeep Cherokee 4WD that, when it was shipped to him, turned out to be a 2WD. The seller wouldn't make it right, and he's still stuck with it. Today he's picking up a Honda Passport 4WD, which he thinks is a rebadged Isuzu, and he paid $2K over KBB because the seller said he'd replaced/updated all the known bad parts on it. I hope for his sake that turns out to be the case.

It's never too early to start planning for retirement, Paul. And it's almost never early enough when you finally do take it, either.

It was a good day yesterday, clearing wise. I talked the dozer operator into back dragging his work to smooth out the worst of the cat tracks, and he doubled the size of the clearing I did earlier this year. Only took him an hour to do what took me several days with the tractor. But he just pushed the dead manzanita bushes to the property line, where I stacked the wood I knocked down and later bucked and palletized it.

I also got the drone out and made a video of the progress so far. But after watching it, I want to do it over again from a bit lower altitude to get more detail. Flying more slowly over the area will help, too. But for now, here's a couple of stills showing the newly cleared areas.

There sure are a lot of new wood piles. Conditions are pretty good, so I'll fire off the burn pile and keep it stoked for a few hours this morning.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

47F and cloudy @ 11:15, heading up to a high of 55F with a 10% chance of rain today, 20% chance tonight. High tomorrow will only be 44F ... chilly through this coming Tuesday, then calling for a bit of a warm up.

Woman reports a bluebird sighting at the suet feeder outside the kitchen window a bit ago. Will need to get the mealworm feeders put back out.

Crocus making an appearance the other day:

Need to get that bed cleaned out.

Parts for Kubota came in yesterday, so we ran out and picked them up. May get back up to the shed later this afternoon for some more work on that. Will probably be mostly clean up. Looks like they had some inventory, not as full as usual though:

Battery in the van was flat again, need to hook charger up on that ... probably get it charged up enough to run it down to AutoZone and get a new battery for it.

Also have appointment later this afternoon have to run out for.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe Thursday ... (y)

65°F and 2.39 inches rain

Slept in an extra 30 minutes and am foregoing my usual tread climber and bike routine.

Not sure what I’ll attempt this morning before heading off for haircut, then off to Hilo town.

Change of plans. Just got a call from neighbor her power is down again. Need a coffee first.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

The weather people are still talking about snow/ice pellets overnight, they are suggesting 10 cm/4" and then above freezing tomorrow. Didn't get anything today so far.

I missed my mid afternoon nap, was more interested in old British WW2 movies.

Tomorrow is a town run and MAYBE go and buy a zero turn mower.
Look at the Kubota Z231 zero turn. I love mine and they are quality and great value compared to other brands. Took my advice from a friend who has owned a few.

Drew, think you may hold the record for number of cars, trucks, tractors, RVs bought and sold since you’ve been on GM.

So working a year longer, I could pull more each year in retirement but it would cost me another 1 yr hit versus just taking it now. The 14 months lost is water under the bridge. It’s complicated.
Ahhh but when enough enough for that peace mind. ;)

That's cool that you hiked the A/T. That's a tempting mountain in your photo...ever hiked in the Sandia?
Yes, back when we first moved here. I was still an avid hiker and skier. I wouldn't say my first time out hiking went well..... I never knew about "high altitude sickness" .... put me down for about 4-5 days. Lesson WAS learned!

I also did the Sante Fe and Taos mountains also. Wheeler peak is the highest in NM at 13,167 ft. I was able to make it to the top after being well educated on the proper way to do it!

Well, it was a long day for sure! Left at 09:00 this morning to be at hospital by 10:00. Got checked in by 10:10. Back to start test at 10:30. Multiple phases with 30 min resting periods in between. First 2 phases not to bad, but could feel the injected isotopes on the 2nd phase. I definitely did not like the 3rd phase..... first felt "flush", then dizzy, then neck pain, then short of breath. B/P dropped 30 points. Thank goodness the symptoms only lasted for around 3 minutes. The rest of the last phase wasn't as bad.

Developed a headache before we left the hospital.... a common side effect. They said to drink some coffee or caffeinated drinks. A bit of a relief of the headache, not as bad now, but still present. I tried to grab a nap when we got home at 2:30, but no-go....

Even though the staff / techs can't tell the pt. anything, they did let me know nothing was "jumping out" to them. I guess that is a good thing. Now the waiting game begins for the 'official results'.

46F and mostly cloudy @ 21:00, heading down to 38F for the low.

Refilled hopper, two sunflower tube, and two suet feeders ... plus two scoops of cracked corn on the ground.

Also six scoops of whole corn for the deer feeder - looks like they were happy about that:

IMG_1565 copy.jpg

Then some work after that down in the fish room before dinner.

Woman fried up some breaded cod fillets for dinner, ate more than I should have.

Then back down to the fish room for more maintenance.

Getting low on sunflower seeds and cat litter so going to put together a little Menards order before I hit the rack.

Hope everyone had a great day ... (y)

Morning/afternoon all! Another cool night, low of 6C, clear sky and light breeze. High of 23C predicted and we'll probably get there.

The neighbour's Guinea Fowls (18 of'em) have been parading around the property... Penelope (the cat) went out to check them out and the flock, calmly, 'stared' her down. As each one of them are the same size as she is, she lost interest in them.

All's well here.

Carvana gets 4.5 stars. They paid the amount stated on their web site and did everything they said they would do. I deducted 1/2 star because their uploading of photos was complicated and they were an hour late today. Overall a good experience and top dollar. 1K more than CarmaX offered.

It was all done online and the guy carrying the check only checked the odometer and documents and gave mom the check. Poor guy that did the checking talked so fast and with an accent I had to tell him to slow down and asked where he was from. He said Ukraine, his family is still in one of the towns and can't leave because there is no place to go and the planes keep the anxiety level up. He did a good job. My mom was wondering if he was really from Ukraine, his pronunciation the towns was good so I would say he was truthful but told Mom that she was very good in always suspecting a scam and to always keep her suspicions up.

He left the keys in a lock box on the window and said a tow truck would be by later. The truck arrived at 7PM, the car is gone. The 8 year old car sold for 3K less than it was bought new. Mom was amazed and kept asking if I was sure it was not a scam. I showed her the Carvana car vending machines on my phone, she did not quite understand the concept, of course I don't either.
