RNG, the email at the bottom works and they got back to me pretty quickly.
I also found this.

A great day here apart from the biting easterly wind. Just seems wrong to have to put on sun screen while shivering.

Spent some time yesterday afternoon clearing out pond weed with a simple T shaped hand drag, cast out on a rope (The ground is much too soft at the moment to get anywhere near with a tractor). Although slow going, it was quite effective on the smaller rafts of Crassula and at this time of year staying on the bankside is a lot warmer than paddling out in chest waders. The drag weighs a good few pounds, but it can't get through the more dense rafts of weed, it just skims over the top. I am playing around with ideas for a dedicated weed buster, something that is capable of penetrating and when pulled back, will cut it into strips. Will have to see what I can find on the scrap pile ...

Took this a couple nights ago, where is Ron for a good moon picture?
There must be quite a few of us who will forever think of Ron whenever we see an impressive moon.

Most young boys these days are all about video games. It kills them to be in a car for a long ride, without a game. When my son makes a groan or whine when I ask him to do something, I say "Did I just hear some negativity?" and if he doesn't change his tune and get onboard, we have a "NO SCREENS" timeout for some time. Maybe "no screens" for a day, or if bad enough, a week. This policy has worked for him.
Quite right Kyle.
Don't mind them being slightly grumpy for a short while at that age, but if we don't get a smile before long, there are always consequences to make grumpiness the least attractive option ;)

Morning all, 66 going up to 71, looks like heavy rain later, maybe will wait for me to finish my drive to Long Island.
Tools and overnight bag ready to go! Dinner at Chinese or Thai with Brother and SIL tonight. Looking forward to that. 3 hour drive not so much

Leaner tree finally snapped at second cut. So it's about 20 feet shorter than when I started. Now it will be easy to push/pull over. Just need time, maybe Monday night. Then it's cleanup for the 8 or so trees in that area before I move to the next area by my other neighbors.

Alien - hope the wife BP fix is easy-for me they had to change my BP medication. I kept getting dizzy and trying to fall over. Now stable.

Wagtail - sounds like fun - too bad the flight out takes so long that I would miss it even if I left right now.
I'll get to your area of the world someday. Hope you get a great turnout.

Stay safe and be well,

At one time , before the EAB killed all the ash, this area was so thick with trees that even in the winter you could not see through.
The evergreens to the left were completely hidden and the view across the fields was dense with underbrush which I removed to get to the Ash trees.
I still have 6 more large ones to fell and probably another 20-30 large ones along the trail to get the branches down. about 10 smaller trees fell in the winds we had last week. Most of my property is in the front, this is the back area.
Once all the trunks are bucked, we will start planting new trees for the next owner to enjoy as we only plan on being here for another 10 years, based on health.

Good morning to all! Low was 25°, high is predicted to hit 61°, sunny for today. Tomorrow should start out nice, but then get windy as a front approaches. Good chances of rain Sunday night and Monday. I hope so.... Right now the dew point is at -23°, humidity is at 10%. Dry air for sure.

Ken, you've done a great job clearing your land. Yard looks great and it hasn't even greened up yet!

Drew, sorry to hear about the dinner escapade, at least they tried to make it right. Glad you weren't stuck in the Miata. I have never owned a convertible car, only 'convertible' Jeeps. Even then, only seldom took the top off. Usually when going down to the beach or up into the Poconos. Only took the top off once out here..... way too hot, never did it again.

RNG, sounds like you got in a good amount of seat time! Sounds like having the dozer do the clearing really sped up the process. Good decision. Pics?

BEF, I was describing that your thread about moving the shed made me tired just reading about all the work you've been doing! Been there, done that.... I was notorious for being a pack rat. Not so much anymore, only the 'good stuff' gets saved now....🥴😵‍💫

BEF has inspired me to move some lumber that has been stored in our 'garden shed' over to the tractor garage / shop. Then I can get the garden tractor and rototiller back into their home. It's one of those things that I know has to be done....just procrastinating doing it.....

I definitely need to grease the tractor, especially after cutting in the driveway and spreading all the gravel. Today will be a good day to get these couple things done.

The oil change in the car was done yesterday. Not without a stupid simple mistake.... When I took out the drain plug, apparently I dropped the copper crush washer into the drain pan. I even looked at the drain plug and thought there should be one on there. Put the bare plug back in and refilled the oil. While cleaning up, I saw / found the washer...... aaaww nuts!
I was able to quickly remove the plug, use my other finger to plug the hole, then get the plug / washer back in. Only lost about 1/4 pint of oil. I think I was distracted talking / instructing the GS. We both learned a lesson!

Everyone have a great start to the weekend!

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Hey Bird, on golf courses I worked for, we planted English ivy and monkeygrass in those shaded areas under trees.
Worked great for a ground cover where the grass couldn't grow.

51F, breezy, and rain @ 13:30, earlier the high was 54F. Headed down to low of 38F overnight, with a high of 55F in the forecast for tomorrow and rain early then clearing. Back with the warm temps on Monday with a high of 68F ... (y)

Mostly 40's and 50's for highs in the Ten Day, with a couple of 60's ... one day with a low of 28F ... so we're not quite past the last freeze date just yet. Current soil temp 53F, 24 hour average 54F.

Got the parts for the Kubota ordered yesterday, total came to $356.50 including tax. Parts guy said everything was available, should be here in a week or so. That will give a little time for some additional prep work to get things ready to reassemble.

Back to indoor activities in the meantime.
