Good morning! 53° and raining. Pretty much all day rain event. Supposed to drop into the 20's tonight. "Hopefully" there is good ice melt before the temperature drops.

The local TSC does have a couple of different brands of hydraulic oil in stock. But not a lot. I haven't looked at Rural King or the NH dealer. I need to do a hydro change on my tractor soon.

My understanding from our purchasing people about the hydraulic oil shortage is additive packages are in extremely short supply. Apparently another product type that has been "off shored". 🤦‍♂️

Enjoy the ride @RedNeckGeek!

Had to compose a "dead skunk on the table" email this morning. Seems that in a mere 30 days time, someone has gone from knowing nothing about underground hard rock mining to being one of the smartest people who has ever been involved in that industry. He has been sending incredibly long emails to a whole bunch of people explaining how he is right about an issue. Only problem is, I am convinced the customer is abusing the machine and it also needs updated to be more like it's big brother in one particular part. But he is on a crusade on how much he knows already. The reaction from him was curt and funny.

Everyone stay safe out there

Morning all, a very warm partly sunny 48.

Alien pasaplum? - Hope the flail damage isn't too bad. I have to mark the stumps in the woods or I would do the same, bought some orange marking paint. Usually the rocks that get my hammers chipped though.
We have lots of garter snakes, corn snakes every now and then. No Pythons here.

Jeep is off getting inspection, brake check and oil change. New place, hope they are good. Tired of the old place having to redo their work 2-3 times (hence the brake check).

Drew - hoping all goes according to plan and it don't hurt much. If you need any help send me an email or call.

Have fun RNG - Shame how mexico is going, now stopping avocados due to dr#g lord interference and threats.

PopG -emily does look happy, hope it stays that way for a good long time.

Stay safe and be well,

Found this picture right, this was right before my FIL sold the house. Needed too much work for us to take it.
Was built starting in the late 1700's and if you walk across the street you would be in the Delaware river.
New owner has done a lot of work and he has been fixing it up for 3 years now.
This house was on TV, Stone house revival.

Beautiful house...
But like any old house, one has to be willing to put up with certain things...small rooms, a tendency to cold in the winter, hot in the summer...

35°F and rain right now, steadily dropping through the day. Rain will change over to freezing rain and sleet sometime after noon, and eventually to snow. Voice on the radio is sticking to his 1-3" prediction. We'll be in the single digits tomorrow morning, so whatever falls will freeze. Back up in the mid-60s by Monday. Weeeee! Please keep your hands and feet inside the ride at all times.

Gotta love the instant experts, Rich.

Good morning to all! The weather guessers were right.... 21° and snowing now. The high temp is forecast to hit 32°. Snow won't be melting today, but temps should rebound up to the mid 40's by Saturday.

I went out and cleared the walkways already, a good 6" accumulated already. Not supposed to get more than that. I'm not sure if I'll get the tractor out to plow. It's right on the cusp of needing to do......

Paul, I hope Emily remains stable and doesn't have any more seizures. Is she on any meds? Good score on the metal.

Drew, good luck with the port removal. Yes, they do come out quickly.... you will spend more time waiting for sure.

Bruce, sorry to hear that meeting was a bust without a good discussion. Maybe a lesson learned?

RNG, be safe, enjoy the ride and beautiful weather..... think of the rest of the country being cold, wet, snowy..... it will make the ride even that much better!

BEF, sorry about the audio issues.... I can't even begin to give any help suggestions.....

David, good progress on the suite! Looks about ready for occupancy...... how does next Tuesday sound? (It's the fastest I could get a flight).... Tractor won't come for 2 weeks.... you have room for my tools right?

Ken, that's a beautiful house! Years ago (when we first got married) we looked at many, many old stone farmhouses in that area. Like you, decided it would take too much work and a bunch of money to rehab. I would love to do one now.

I guess I got lucky with the hydraulic oil shortage. When I did the 200 hour service, I got enough to do the next service. The T-6 is still unobtainable out here. I might have to use something else..... I wonder if the big rig service centers are able to get it?

Yesterday, the wifey said I looked really tired and didn't want me to go out in the shop. I complied with her wishes.... hassock project on hold until the weekend.

GS's birthday today, so going to have a small pizza party this evening. Should be fun. It will just be us, son, big GS (18yo) and the 2 little GS (8 and 7). Our son got an Italian cream cake ..... hope it's good.

Here's a pic of today's snow....

Ha. Just read the daily "COMING TO YOUR MAILBOX SOON" email from the USPS, and it had a fancy announcement that we can now renew our vehicle registrations at the post office. Why on Earth would anyone want to stand in their line instead of the one at the Department of Motor Vehicles? They're both about the same length, and occaissionally you'll get a DMV person that actually knows how to help you.

Well, my computer audio success was short lived. Had it working, hooked up hdmi cable, now it says no audio device again. Doesn’t matter what I do, nothing.

Went to bed, watched a couple YouTube videos on the subject, got up went back downstairs at 1am, opened computer lid, it now said audio was working. WTH is going on.
So this morning audio still working. Hooked hdmi to tv , audio works on TV. Great, unplug HDMI cable, audio no longer works on PC.
Now it’s just the Red x, no audio device.

Sent Dell a message I want to return the computer, they promptly said Sorry, take it up with tech support.

In my last post, I mentioned that I just got my car serviced yesterday at the dealer. So early this morning I decided to go ahead and order and pay for the registration renewal. As many do, I used to go to the DMV office, wait in line, and renew in person. However, for several years now, I've just renewed online, and in fact, it's $1.00 cheaper if you do it online. Now it has always been quick and simple to renew online . . . . not anymore! I finally gave up early this morning, went and ate breakfast, then started over. I've NEVER in the past, had to answer so many questions and enter everything off my driver's license, as well as everything from my other forms of ID, and credit card. I began to wonder if they were going to require a blood sample. But anyway, I finally got it done.

67°F and .82 inches rain

Did have some unwanted excitement yesterday about an hour before leaving for H&F. Both dogs got outside the fence. Lower neighbor has a project running a water line from the stream up to his house along our common fence. While I had heard the workers, I never visually saw the work being done. They dropped the line on my side the fence. Makes sense as it is the clean side as We keep it mowed and weedwacked. Now that becomes challenging, but the big problem is I have cross fencing that joins perpendicular. They didn’t tie it back together allowing a place for dogs to escape (and pigs get in).

Luckily one of the upper neighbors saw them and let us know. Likely only gone a couple of hours and recovered before it started raining. Had a talk with neighbor about the pipe work.
I was civil, but highlighted that as dropped pipe was subject to mower and weedwacker damage.

Rain forecast for today. Might take advantage and go to town

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

I mentioned early this morning that it was 61°, but the north wind has been blowing, temperature falling, and now just befor 11 a.m. it's down to 39° and still falling. And hoped for rain that we had (briefly) early only gave us about .05" before it moved on east.:(:( So far this year, my total rainfall for the year is just under 3/4".

Bird, do you have to get a roadworthy inspection before your fego can be renewed yealy?
Some states here require that but not Queensland.
It is the owners resposibility to keep his car roadworthy or risk a fine. A Safety Certificate is required if you intend selling your vehicle.
Police may give your vehicle a check if they pull you over for anything. (Tyres, damage etc) If they find anything they will put a sticker on your car and you can't remove it or drive the vehicle until repairs are carried out and you can produce a new safety cert/roadworthy to the police who then remove the sticker.

@LS Tractor Owner said:

"I wonder if the big rig service centers are able to get it?"

For the most part, no. But it also appears to depend on the additive packages in the hydraulic oil. Rather basic oils seem to be available. The high end oils used in modern construction and industrial equipment, not so much. The high end additive packages are simply not available to blend the oil.

I have suggested they use one of our fire resistant/environmentally safe oils which is a phosphate ester based fluid. But the cost is a problem. And that specific fluid does not play well with any other oil. But it is an incredibly good hydraulic fluid.

Rain here today. Probably 4" to "5 so far

We had gully washers from around 6:30 till 11:00am.

It would let up enough so you would pop your head out. And then dump again.

Was blowing and pouring so bad that water was seeping through the seams on the overhead doors in the shop.

Cabbed forklift has been the most popular mode of transportation around the yard this morning

Strange, I also renewed my vehicle registration this morning online and did not have to enter my DL number or other forms of ID. Are you sure you were on the right website. Only name address and cc# were required.

not a productive day
Hospital called thankfully early enough and cancelled my procedure. Said they had an emergency.
Ok...next tuesday

so I'm studying spreadsheets for a school board finance meeting tonight,
and doing some research for socially responsible/green mutual funds for both my church and the school.

decided it would be fun to have a metal detector to search the SC beaches in May at family reunion, so I ordered a
modest one with a carry bag and a sand scoop. I've had one before, they are a good way to kill some time. Had it shipped to my brother
in VA to drive it down so I don't have to haul it on the train. On the way back I don't care if my dirty clothes get a little sand on them...

I checked the test kits I had, same brand, also made in China, sold by Amazon.
