Yep, the odd mix is still coming down. But at least we can walk on it.

I did clear the sidewalk and salt it again. Brought in plenty of wood. Lights flickered once, so far, we are good With power. Both generators are ready to go, plenty of fresh gas in the garage.

I forgot to turn off the lights in the garage and lock the door. Still need to do that.

“Worked from home” today, most of what I did was trying to direct a co-worker from being a whining, helpless turd to actually use his brain and look up information that is readily available to him if he would even try. I am really ready to be done with this stuff…

I will need some fast growers soon, thinking Silver Maple and maybe some more cedar or pine.
New neighbor next year and I want a nice looking and maintainable screen for us.

Ugh on the Silver Maples. Super bad experiences with some here on the farm. They grow fast, they grow big. And they are a maintenance nightmare. Of the 12 planted around the house 60-100 years old 5, remain.

Easy 15k-20k in tree work in 15 years here. And you need professional grinders to get the roots if you want to salvage your yard.

Plant them far, far away from assets.

Can send horror pics to change your mind. LOL.

47° almost at 1” of rain so far.

Right now looks like temps will stay above freezing until the rain is gone.

We don’t take a lot of vacations, but the couple to Colorado were the best.
Tonight’s state is Connecticut, a state I’ve driven through a few times, but not a destination.
Went thru my pictures and couldn’t even find one labeled CT, so looked at the scout trip to Maine pics. Sure enough, found one that said welcome to southwick Massachusetts, so figured the ones before it might be CT.
Found this pic, got to looking on google maps and discovered it is Barkhamsted Lake in CT. Pretty cool tower.

Don’t remember why we didn’t take the interstate, we were heading to Springfield Mass to camp for the night, and we took some back roads to get there.

We did take a vacation one year to NH, and we drove thru Hartford CT on that trip. I’ll talk about that one later.
On this scout trip, we were going across I84 in Newburgh NY when someone needed to get gas. We got off a random exit, and drove past Orange County choppers, from the TV show. So we stopped and took a tour. You could look thru a window and watch them working in the shop, and they had a bunch of bikes on display. Really cool place to stumble upon, and the delay probably is why we went cross country in CT, to miss evening rush traffic in Hartford.

Also not a friend of silver maples, a giant weed in my mind. They shed branches aweful, they don’t get pretty, the roots come out of the ground.

No surprise at all. Conditions are ugly around here.

The road by my house that is surprisingly heavily traveled for a country road has been quiet today. County truck/plow made a single pass around 4:30 this afternoon. Doubt Baltic is any better!

I measured 4-1/2" on the bench table, and 10" drifted across the concrete pad by the garage. Not nearly as bad as predicted. Of course, there's a sheet of ice and sleet under all that as well.

Power went out again just as we finished dinner. Power company update says they found another broken cross arm about a mile from us, and had to de-energize to replace it. Looks like we may be in for another long night with little sleep.
