Up too early...

21° and heavy snow right now. I'd gotten up for a pee and smoke about an hour ago....looks like 1-2" of snow accumulated since than and it appears that rate is increasing. Looks fluffy, fortunately...I'd say about 8" looking at the deck railings...but, it's gusting now and then so accumulation is hard to estimate.
High today in the low 20's and snow will continue until this afternoon.

I'm going to plug the tractor in shortly, but won't start until daybreak. As fluffy as the snow is, I expect visibility to be poor. I am going to hit the walks in an hour or so. Think I wrote yesterday, my EGO battery snow blower isn't self-propelled (that'll be rectified this year, but not this winter) and it can only handle (better said, I can only handle) about 6" depth

Wifey goes in for a booster shot this morning...needs to be there at 0900

Bad news at work. Power was lost a day ago...we have the power for lighting and computers, but lost the power for the CNC equipment due to a break in a line. With the weather in Claremont (NH), I expect the shop to be closed today, but we're losing a lot of valuable machining time.
They're renting generators...that's going to be a very expensive proposition

Stay safe!!

Just plugged the block heater in to the wall outlet and looked outside. There's at least 12-13 inches on the Tacoma's hood and roof...same on the Deere's hood and roof.
Heavy snowfall as I type this.
Haven't gone out yet, but I might regret I didn't do the walks a couple hours ago...

64F dropping later to 26...rain should restart in an hour or less so need to get out and do morning chores now.

Careful out there in snow country!

Thomas, did you feel the earthquake up south of Berlin...only a 2.9...probably too far.

good morning all
that's a lot of snow Roy, take it slow.
surprisingly warm this morning, heat from South came up and made this a big rainstorm for us while others are
mighty cold. 53 out now with about .7 on the rain gauge. Cold weather coming back in tonight, down around 20.
If that cold had met this rain, well look what Roy is dealing with.

Mostly, I just don't think of snow when I think of Texas. I bet the kids love it.

going to call primary doc this morning to see if I need a fourth shot for you know what.
I also need to call hospital scheduling where I've been waiting two months for a slot to go get my port taken out of my chest.
It is elective and maybe now as dust settles I can get an appointment. Then I'll get the heart monitor taken out, have never ever had afib nor did
this gizmo detect anything. I'd like to get this stuff out of my body and of course they can't do both at same time, which would be best for me.

no slips no falls

20 degrees this morning, going for a high of 30 with a light breeze from the NW. I'm wondering whether this cold spell will set a new record for the longest continuous stretch of sub-freezing tempertures. I can remember weather with more ice, tire chains on my squad car, etc. but it usually didn't last long. And at least this time our lights have not even flickered so far. Hope everyone's power stays on and everyone stays warm.

Popgadget/Paul, there is another Paul in Nova Scotia here at TBN that has a Kubota like yours, with all kinds of interesting mods for snow and other work.
Definitely a tricked out tractor. I think he even started making parts for others there was so much interest. Haven't read his stuff in awhile.

all this snow, this is when those cab tractors sure are a wonderful luxury. Anyone who has used a snow blower and had a face full of icy pellets blow
back on them, good way to get cold in a hurry. Of course I bet most Canadians have a warm face mask of some sort. Maybe it's because you just can, but crank up the heat
in your cab and you can plow snow in your golf shirt.

I keep thinking about that padlock going into the snow blower. Would like to see a slow mo video of it. Bet if I searched on youtube someone has fed something intentionally
into a snowblower just to make a video of it. Because blowing stuff up really sells...
