Good morning to all! Low was 15, going up to 44 later today. The expected flurries added up to only an inch. But, no cinder trucks were out, so that inch got packed into a nice layer of packed ice on the road.

I had to make a run into town this morning, so couldn't avoid it. Once I got 25 miles to the city limit, the roads were dry. Ahhh, the wonderful cost of living in the mountains.

Remember the small plumbing project that I did last week? Well, it had to be redone yesterday.... I was walking past the "manhole" where a valve was added....noticed water overflowing out the top. Shut off the main and got out the submersible pump. Got it empty to find that the shoulder / threaded portion of the "T" where the valve was installed totally cracked along the length. This was an 1 1/2" main supply line. At least it wasn't my fault.

Luckily, I spotted it at around noon. Went and got a few fittings, cut out the bad T, and got everything replaced. No leaks this morning.... but I said that the last time too!

Maybe get out to the shop to do the hassock conversion today.... I have to time it correctly because I use it to elevate the legs / knee in the evening. If I can't get it started and completed in one day, I will be an uncomfortable pup.

David, the caretaker studio is coming together very nicely! That is on nice kitchen area. Plenty of counter space for sure! Where is my tractor going to go?

Ken, when did you take those pics of my backyard?

Drew, good luck with the refer upgrade / delivery. Hope they get it done before the snow.

RNG, Wow! That's a crazy price for an inhaler... hope you can find it cheaper.
Same for the insurance.... sounds like a real PIA to get coverage at a decent price. Good luck searching.

I hope Ron comes back... miss his pics and conversation already.

Well, I survived another trip around the moon. 82 years old today and the only male member of my family or heritage to ever make it this far. Of course I'm also the only one to have survived polio, an emergency appendectomy, a knee replacement, a shoulder replacement, a triple bypass, and a few little things like that. And I thank the good Lord that I've had things a lot better than many others. In spite of some early health problems as a youngster, and some now in later life, I spent almost 25 years as a police officer and can't remember taking a sick day, and then we spent 6 years full time RV traveling before farming for a few years. And ever since the first year as a police officer, I"ve had a good old gal (wife) who has put with me all these years. Yep, I have much to be thankful for, including many friends on this website.

Happy Birthday Bird, and thank you for all of your contributions to TBN - you are an inspiration!

Good evening. This week the yearling sheep started to get some additional feed to help with the last few weeks of pregnancy. Most were unsure at first about eating a single corn pellet, now they can't wait for me to come out with a bucket full of delights each morning. In just a handful of days they have gone from being quite gentle to threatening addicts, ready to mug me on sight if I have anything in my hand that could conceivably contain food.

Bird, congrats on becoming the family record breaker.

Don, so the new elephant in the room that was once an "r" short of a family of big black birds has now morphed into a Swedish alligator ???? Soon be an entire zoo... oh of course - it's Zoonotic

I took this photo in Ruidoso NM which is in the mountains west of Roswell Thought one of the locals was full of it when he said if we wanted to see elk, go to the elementary school soccer fields at dawn.

The temperature this morning when I fired up the tractor was -15°F. I don't like working it when it is that cold, but the driveways must be plowed. She only gets about 2 hours of block heater time, then two cycles of glow plugs and 5 minutes of 1,000 rpm then another 5 minutes of 1,500. I start working it at 1,500 rpm and gradually increase to 2,000 where it works for the duration of the plowing session.

I snuck in a nap this afternoon, from 1 to 4:30.

Bill, sounds like a good plan to not thermally stress your very cold tractor.

nice visit with my brother, roads were clear, heavily salted, waiting for whatever comes tonight and tomorrow.
I still need to go food shopping now that new fridge is here, it's almost empty. That should make for an adventure in tomorrow's snow.
I enjoy driving in the snow, as long as everyone else stays in their own lane.

Didn’t get to checkout the BX23s. Owner has pulled ad. Doesn’t really want to sell. Working on his debt to income ratio for a mortgage and exploring new avenue. Interestingly a Kioti CK20 appeared on CL yesterday afternoon and gone already. Not that I was interested as it didn’t have a mower and a gear model. Ad gone this morning.

Sophie’s ordered BX2380 is maybe 2 months out, so getting hopeful.

Lots of great things to see and do. Just do it rural.... Albuquerque has one of the highest crime rates. Santa Fe isn't bad, just too congested. The pueblo ruins and national parks are nice.

Stopped in Albuquerque back in 2011 on the way to Flagstaff at the start of our Grand Canyon vacation week. Had lunch at The Owl Cafe, then got back on the interstate. It's important to note, though, that we made the requisite left when leaving the parking lot from The Owl.
