Good morning!!!!

pie is in the oven, and microwave almost caught on fire.
Heard crackling and hissing and immediately turned off microwave. Looked in, saw nothing, no metal in there for sure and
tried again. That brought on the smoke. Ok, time for closer inspection.
The rotating cradle below the glass plate decided to incinerate itself. I thought it was all plastic but apparently not. And that looks like a metal screw
on the roller too. In a microwave? Have had it a year and no problems and now it decides it's flammable. CPSC should be interested. Toshiba, name brand too.

My buddy actually TIG welded the grooves in his chainsaw clutch drive gear with hard banding wire filler, and then he ground it down with a little Dremel till back to stock so he has hard surfacing where the chain engages.
I was thinking of doing that, too, Kyle. Until I saw the geometry of the part, and that the grooves extended pretty much all the way around the narrowest point of the sprocket. Not sure if I could even see what I was doing if I were to try to weld it. My suspicions that it was made of sintered powdered metal was the final nail in that coffin. Not to mention the $5 +- $2 price tag.

Maybe some people are getting prepared like they should be.
Don't know what they are getting prepared for, but I guess spaghetti is the choice around here for survival food. Maybe it's because next Friday the temps plunge to 30˚F and for a few hours in the morning we have a 10% chance of a wintery mix.

I'm heading to another store to check out their pasta isle and pick up some whole wheat pastry flour, if it's in stock, to make a survival Instant Pot chocolate cake on this bright sunny very windy 45˚ day.

21° our snow prediction down to 3” so will be a major letdown following a week of hype.

Overachieved, I did get Subaru oil changed, and pulled left front tire and saw a sliver of brake lining left.

Not wanting to overdo myself I didn’t run in looking for new brake pads.
Rode yesterday’s miles on the bike, so need to ride again.
Squash is back inside.

Yum, how do you do the nachos?

And Drew’s pie looks delicious, cherry is my favorite.

Yummy, Drew

We had 34°F and light snow this morning, and the temp has hovered around that same spot all day. The snow stopped here around 10:30-ish. Our predicted 3-6" was modified to 1-2", and the reality is we got maybe 1/2", much of which has already melted. Some friends over in Missouri reported about 2". Looks like STL Snowmageddon 2022 is a bust.

Went out into the great storm this morning to run some errands. Wife wanted me to pick up breakfast while I was out, but all the slow food joints had already stopped serving breakfast by the time I was done, so I just came back home and made pancakes. Helped her prep some chili, and that's in the crockpot for dinner this evening.

One of the errands was to pick up the replacement for the broken door knob on one of the sunroom doors, which the hardware store called me and told me was in on Thursday. No sliding through any intersections in Aviston this time. Of course, that task seems to have worked its way onto the "not gonna happen today" list.

Nice kitty photos.

Well heck it's sure not morning for me.
I had opened the computer earlier waiting for supper to get warmed up.
It put itself to sleep. Finished supper and went down to the bedroom end of the house,
55F, what the heck should be holding right at 60. I knew I had hot water but opened the cellar door
nope didn't hear the boiler running. Went over to the front half of the house thermostat and bumped it up
and heard the click waited a couple of minutes and checked the copper piping not even warm.
Down to the cellar look at the boiler temp gauge 67F in the boiler, hit the reset and got oil but no fire.
Dang it's already -2F heading for -10F or so.
Flip the master off switch and pull the burner tube, danged nozzle all cruded up with soot and carbon on one side
and one electrode carboned up and the other burnt back quite a bit.
Good thing I keep spares around put in a new nozzle, new electrodes, turned on the power and away she went.
The coal burning insert in the fireplace was keeping the front half of the house at 69-70F we had noticed it was cooler
then we normally keep the kitchen and living room, we like 72-74F but moving around a bit and I was in and out
so hadn't really noticed till after supper.
Time to order 2 new nozzels and a new set of ignitors for the shelf.

2022-01-15,

- 5 degrees right now. Think I'll be staying inside...reasonably warm since wifey is under blankets and I'm wearing a shirt-jac (I guess these are referred to as "shackets" now)
Time for the flannel PJs though, I think...

I don't know what a floating rim is, but the part has six points, and the spaces between alternating pairs of them on each side are closed in with a thin web so that the drivers are somewhat captured.

The rim rides on a splined shaft and floats laterally for alignment.

Got some plumbing done, but missing pieces, a 90° for kitchen sink drain and tail piece extension for bathroom vanity. Oh well, not making a special trip to town, can wait until next week.

OK time to measure up and measure those knees. My good knee circumference is 15.5" (bad knee does not count it is still slightly swollen at 17").
Well, my bad one is at 18 3/4", good one is at 17..... I guess the bad one is still bad...
It's been almost a year. I have 130° of flex, but it still swells a bunch by mid day.

Good Day! It took a bit for me to get motivated to do the electric project out of fear of a repeat of yesterday's plumbing fiasco, but it went easy / peasy. Ran a new underground feed GFCI outlet in the yard. Hardest part was digging the trench. All done, energized, and working properly.

WNG, I cheated with the 'tilde' over the n..... on my IPad, it will give "suggestions for words", when I typed piñon.... it showed up that way, so I just hit on the suggested word and... WAA LAA!

High today only hit 42°. That was ok, I was getting warm digging the trench. Then I was able to get the last few strands of Christmas lights taken down. A successful day....

Now to see what trouble I can get into tomorrow .....

Looks like the south and East coast are gonna get hammered with ice and snow. Everyone be carefull!

How long did it take you to get to 130˚ flex. Sorry to hear it still swells. I was a little too active today and my knee is not happy tonight, I just hope there is gain with pain at some point.
