Tonight I most likely be in bed by 10. IF nature does call as she usually does 2 hours after I sack out then I will see new years in, other than that it will be about 3 AM when i get up.
Off to North Bay. Catch you all later.

finished putting in snow stakes at church, got a huge fiberglass splinter in my hand, bled all over the place, old stakes that should have been thrown out long ago.
I brought 20 new ones and they were easy to install and for sure no splinters from them. Next time I wear gloves. Splinter went in me at least half an inch. Just soaked it
in Bactine. Glad that chore is done.

Don, there is also the possibility of mounting it on a wooden pole in her garden. I've already drilled holes in it, not going to move the rain gauge now.
Yes I will miss Federal rain gauge certification RG-6000 but this will be a gift...but will keep that in mind on next one, thanks.
Fully manual. No batteries. No parts to break. My friend will appreciate the simplicity.

going to hardware store Monday to find either tiny stainless pins, like the ones in shelves or a strong brad. Pins would look nice, drill a hole, glue them in.
Without the upper pins I'm afraid there will be too much wear and tear in winds on the lower plastic area. Upper support will also keep it more vertical, less wiggling around.
I'd go tomorrow but don't think they'll be open.

one more phone meeting this afternoon and then I'm done. 9 things on my list to discuss. Groan.

Ever since Dick Clark died, New Year's Eve hasn't been quite the same.
I found him inspirational, continuing on with such determination.

Did you use the drill you bought for the job, Drew?

So far, I've never broken a marker when putting them out...my Frontier snow blower has eaten a few though

Drew, could you use small wood screws? I found them at McMaster-Carr, and delivery was very quick. They probably have stainless brads as well.

yes, drill worked great, it was the busted up old legacy fiberglass rods that were my undoing. I'm going to throw them out end of winter and order the 100 pack.
We had to redrill quite a few spots, just stopped dead on a rock or old piece of asphalt underneath. But move it around a bit, drill down about six inches, slide the rod in and tamp the top
with a rubber mallet. bing bing bing

RNG, going to use whatever local truvalue has for me. Really would like it to be rust proof, so brass or stainless

That is one thing that surprised me. On my surgery no covid test was given, only a MSRA nose swab and blood test.

The in home Physical Therapist just discharged me and I had 100% of goals accomplished. Knee flexion was straight at 0˚ and bending I got to 92˚. (90˚ was the goal.)
Going forward, within 3-4 weeks as out-patient, I will have to up the bend goal to 120˚.

Another uneventful trip to North Bay. Those are the trips I like even though the city was a zoo.
Caught up to a 579 Peterbuilt with straight pipes. Music to my ears especially when he cut in the Jake.

49F and cloudy @ 14:00 ... but Sun has been trying to peek through and has come out a few times for short periods. Heading up to a high of 50F for the day.

Hopper feeder now completely empty so will need to get to that today, probably sunflower tube feeders as well. Check birdbath.

Spent most of yesterday researching and trying to dig up some information then getting that written up. Still a little more to do.

Woman came home with a schefflera plant she picked up at Dollar General I think. She handed to me as she hit the door and said "I probably screwed up ... didn't even think about the cats."

Yup - extremely toxic and potentially fatal to cats with no antidote. It got set back outside of the front door since temps aren't too bad right now. Someone will be getting a gift.

Not sure what all on agenda for the rest of the day.

Santa brought us a new suet feeder with a tail prop suitable for larger woodpeckers:

Need to figure out where and how I'm going to hang that.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe New Year's Eve Day ... (y)
