Good afternoon! 42 now, radar shows more rain is about here. Several days in the 50’s in the forecast.

It is a sad day in NE Ohio weather forecasting. Melissa Mack is leaving her job as meteorologist on Fox 8 to spend more time with her son. Not sure how good she was at forecasting, but she was entertaining to watch.

As expected, Dish Network screwed up replacing the satellite and box. We got the replacement box a week ago, but no remote. My wife called last night asking them where the remote was. The response, in the box with the receiver. She told them no it wasn’t. Then it turned into a mind numbing discussion of updating the service. Turns out, they never shipped a remote and to get one now will be 5 - 10 days. But, if someone can be here from 12 - 5 on Thursday, they miraculously have a tech available who has a new receiver and remote on his truck. She asked them about the receiver sitting on the floor….answer….keep it. 🤦‍♂️ You can’t make this up. How can they be this utterly incompetent?

Well, lunch is over, time to get back to the garage

Stay safe out there.

38°F and a thunderstorm this morning, going up to 52° today. Still raining here, and probably will much of the day.

Wife and I met up with some family on her father's side for a late holiday get together yesterday evening. We usually gather on Xmas eve at her aunt's house, but she wasn't in the mood this year just a couple of weeks after her brother (my FIL) died. So, we met at a restaurant in Collinsville IL, somewhat in the middle of where everyone lives. It's an offshoot of a local family's Italian restaurant that served our hometown for many decades, and was always well-liked. They eventually closed the original location, but kept this one open. I've not been so disappointed in a restaurant experience in probably my entire life. They took our orders about 5:30, and about 6:45 we started asking about why it was taking so long. We got the usual "staffing issues" blah blah blah. Then a few minutes later we were told they were plating the food. It arrived at our table around 7:00. The four people who ordered filets received cold steaks, and the three who ordered pasta got the blandest alfredo sauce I've ever tasted. I can almost accept that it took an hour-and-a-half to get our food. I cannot, however accept getting cold and bland food. When the waitress came back and asked us how everything was, we told her. The manager came out later and somewhat apologized, then discounted the steak meals. That was a decent gesture. She even offered us free desserts, which no one accepted. I've not heard good things from people I know who've eaten there, and my experience seems no different. Disappointed, and will likely not go back.

We got home later than planned, then sat around the kitchen table chatting with her oldest son until sometime after 11:00pm. That alarm came early this morning. He and his girlfriend are leaving Sunday to return to Texas, so we're kind of taking advantage of whatever time we have. He's a fun conversationalist.

41 with rain @ 14:45, headed up to a high of only 42F.

Hopper and two sunflower tube feeders refilled yesterday, also one suet feeder.

Trash taken up to the road and set out along with the recyclables but couldn't take the recyclables bin up as the recyclables container was already full. Both should be empty now. Retrieved the mail while I was up there.

Relatives brought over leftovers from Christmas Dinner day before yesterday and dropped those off: Honey Baked ham, baked beans, corn soufflé, scalloped potatoes, some pie (courtesy of Marie Callendar), and a nut roll. We've been feasting on those for the last several days ... it's been so long since I've had Honey Baked ham that I had forgotten just how good it is.

Started re-watching The Expanse last night from Season 1, Episode 1. The Woman had gotten sucked into it the first time around but was tired and went to bed part way through Episode 2 that time. After that She was pestering me for details on what happened next so we restarted it again. She made it through Episode 5 last night and I got in trouble this morning for keeping her up so late as it threw her off schedule ... We'll probably pick it up again tonight.

Have a few items on agenda for this afternoon, mostly paperwork related. Also possible haircut ...

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe Tuesday ... (y)

RS, know you asked Don, but I’ll chime in.

The more the merrier ... ;)

Had both my knees done about 10 years ago. Sure, I can tell the difference. I don’t kneel, nor run, but boy what an improvement.

Do you avoid doing both those due possible pain, damage to the new joints, or what ?

While I do have a sensation that reminds me, it surely isn’t pain. Not bothersome.

Interesting.

As for mobility, as stated, I don’t kneel nor run, but other than more a challenge when I get on the floor and need to get up, mobility is hugh improvement.

So it sounds like it gave you an increased range of motion ... and perhaps eliminated some pain relief as well ?

I ride my recumbent bike nearly every day to stay flexible and no problems walking. Only wish I had done 1st one a year or so sooner.

Good to know ... (y)

26° right now...high in the mid-30's. Another light dusting of snow last night.
Got a doctor's appointment this morning, but I'm feeling a bit nauseous...think I'm going to skip it.
However, I do want to make a dump run.
Right now, I'm going to lie back down for a while...
Hope the extra shut has you feeling better.

Two Doc, including the surgeon told me it was my years of running that got me to needing the surgery. Surgeon said he had other patient resume running, but I might want to lose some weight first. Kneeling just wasn’t comfortable early on so I’ve avoided.

Interesting.
It isn’t a pain, more a sense of what I call a fullness, but no swelling. Guessing surgery might have affected nerves in someway. More noticeable on my right than left. Not bothersome.

Much better than presurgery on both counts.
