Having weathered the Saturnalia celebration followed by Festivus, we have now reached the climatic capstone event of the season, so allow me to wish you all a Very Merry Christmas !
56F and cloudy/rain @ 11:30, steady rain out there at the moment. Standing water in the yard and steady flow down the west side into the woods.
Second cup of coffee tasting very good.
Two red birds on the feeders, along with two squirrels and two doves foraging below on the ground. Plus a number of smaller birds flying to and fro.
Got birdbath refilled yesterday, it was dry. Surprisingly, all the orange algae was all gone but there were some white mineral deposits (I've been filling it with hard water)
The third White Feather hosta has poked up out of the soil about 1/2" and the bloom on The Woman's white hibiscus is starting to open.
Made good progress yesterday on several woodworking projects:
Cedar hopper feeder largely done except for cutting new plexiglass for the sides and sliding those in, putting on the hinged roof/lid, and stain.
Nest shelf cubby, roof, and back all glued and screwed together, only thing left is the front lip and staining.
No work done on roost box, but not much remains there: just need to install the front door with a little bit of gasketing.
I do plan on getting them all finished up today (... hopefully ...

)
Beyond that not much on the schedule for today.
May change out the soil in that one square pot and get the Coleus planted for The Woman.
I see The Woman has the recipe book opened to the page for Layer Bar Cookies ...
Due to an unforeseen event we'll be laying low and staying home this Christmas.
