32° right now...high in the upper 30's. Also, possibility of snow, sleet and freezing rain this morning...ugh!
I do want to make a dump run this morning, if possible

Drinking hot cup of coffee. 22° with cloudy skies and wind. Heading to 27° with sun in afternoon. Found the LED parts I was looking for. USPS delivered Sassy's meds. Tried to return meds to Amazon. Not returnable. But they gave me my money back. Got last of my shopping done for Christmas at Sam's club. I like using their Senior shopping time at 7 am on Tuesday mornings. 5 cars in parking lot. Workers seem to be very friendly at that time in morning. Or maybe they have not woke up yet.
Need to wrap last of my Christmas gifts. Mostly putting them in a gift bags.
While letting Sassy out the other morning. I saw a small opening in clouds and got a picture of the full moon.

Buppies, good news.

Don, good you got staples out. No pictures needed.

Mostly, I only Rap when I am in a hurry. After that I Wrap the stuff.

Drew, since I live in one of the high Covid case number area's. I have already stayed away from 2 invites. Take care when attending get togethers.

Thomas, a day off with pay. Perfect.

Everyone stay safe and healthy.

Good Morning All.

Prayers for all

30 outside this AM. Heading to lower 40's. Feels warmer than yesterday afternoon. That's odd. Maybe I was just in a cold spell body wise yesterday. Anyway, looks to be a good day.

Since the plumber came in at what I think is just a way off price, I attempted to do some work myself. Water and electricity are not my strengths. I managed to disassemble one shower, but the cartridge just will not come out. So a trip to the hardware store is in order for today. Jeesh, I said that yesterday too. Anyway, if I can pop the filter out, and I think I can, I think I can, that's a significant savings on the work quoted. We shall see.

Need to stock up on some food too. Looks like I am out of coffee again! The horror....the horror. I think I need to get into a pattern on things. Everything is like a crisis this month. I think back to four years ago today, and we were in NY watching my wife recover from her 12 hour back surgery. Yeah...THAT puts things back into perspective.

I hope all have a good day. And the health news just gets better for all. Stay positive. Be safe.

Good morning, 19 going to a high of 25°F. Wind WSW 13 gusting to 21 mph. Snow.

I guess I should turn the block heater on. There is only 1.5" of the stuff, maybe I will let it lay, there is more coming tomorrow. I think I am going to have a white Christmas.

All I want for Christmas is a turkey dinner. As long as I get turkey for thanksgiving and Christmas I am happy.
The goodies I am looking for I can get myself, after a lot of research. Which I haven't done yet.

Alien, when I saw your stone pile I thought that it looked like 3/4" washed stone. After doing the math, it is 0.78". Close enough for the girls I go with.
Good luck getting ALL of it off the grass.

Have a safe day all

Good morning all.
Yesterday's trip to Newark airport went fine. Had forgotten what a miserable part of the country that is, smoggy, and you could even
smell the pollution in the car. Drove up back way through Frenchtown to 78, came home down 202, a very busy road with lots of stoplights. Once we got to airport, took almost
half an hour of crawling along before we got to gate. Didn't see much courtesy on the road. And coming out of the airport, signs are terrible and all kinds of large roads merge near there.
Simply an unpleasant drive except for the first part through NJ farmland. But it was worth it to do a favor for a friend.

37 going up to 44 today.

Received a nice xmas card from new neighbor nearby, said "we are new here but we wanted to tell you how much we appreciate your
Christmas lights. They are so festive" That was sure nice

Ted, good to hear from you. I think you have the world's unhappiest knee, what that has put you through. May Santa bring you some relief.

Ron, very good chance I will cancel out on anything other than dinner with my brother.

I'm off to church this morning to meet a landscaper there, otherwise not much planned other than cleaning up the house.

Good Morning!!!! 41F @ 3:45AM. Rain. High 51F. Winds SE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 90%. Rainfall around a half an inch.
Forecast also calls for another inch of rain tonight. And there's only one dry day in the 10-day, a week from Thursday. Not good weather for being outside, but the gentle showers and generally light winds are just what we need to replenish the aquifers and put a good blanket of snow for next summer up in the mountains.

Good to hear from you, Ted. Sorry to hear more patience is required for the knee. I'll do what I can to shoo some of this moisture down your way.

Nice moon shot, Ron. Thanks for sharing.

I've been nibbling away at a similar gravel pile here, Doug. It's called three quarter minus road base out here, and has lots of powdered rock in it to help the stones bind together. But it gets pretty dusty in the summer months.

My record for a plumbing project is half a dozen trips to the hardware store over a two day weekend, Mike. When I replaced all the faucets in the house, the fella behind the counter at the plumbing supply house was very helpful steering me to the right ones. And after that, getting parts when they needed repair. Cost a bit more than at the big box store, but the advise was priceless, and he almost always had everything in stock so I only had to make one trip.

Sounds like good news on the vaccine front, RS. Hope it turns out to be true.

I didn't find any more downed trees yesterday, and got quite a few branches cleaned up with the grapple without getting stuck. I did get into one soft area, but was able to back up onto firmer ground before it was too late. The pile in the wood yard is the biggest it's ever been, ensuring I'll have plenty of wood gym workouts far into the New Year.

Right now the rain is giving the tractor a bath, and after a week to ten days it should look brand spanking new. Might have to wax it once it stops raining...

Back to inside jobs, housework, paperwork, and keeping the wood stove stoked.

Happy Hump Day, folks!

35 going to 50. Rained lightly most of the night. Should get sunny by afternoon.

That's such good news, Buppies.

RNG, glad you're getting the rain you need.

Wife and I went for a nice day strolling around downtown Culpeper yesterday...an interesting choice of eclectic shops and restaurants...everyone friendly and in the spirit. Had a nice wood-fired pizza and some oysters.

Good Morning.
It’s 33 out and the rain has ended. We got .44 overnight, and todays high will be under 40.
No snow or deep freeze in the forecast, so the tractor will just be parked at the ready. The yellow on the blade is a Urethane cutting edge so I can run the blade right on the pavement without hurting it. It’s 2” thick, and can lowered when it wears, and then flipped over to start over.

Yesterday was busy. Breakfast, meeting, booster, another meeting, and then a little bit of desk time. After that, we went to Peddler’s Village with son, DIL and grandson to see the lights.
IMG_7880.jpg

Stopped for Mexican food for dinner on the way home. So far only side effects was heartburn from the burrito, nothing from the booster vaccine.

Today will be farm chores, moving hay and grain as well as organizing the alpaca goods for the farmers markets. I’ve become the strong back and weak mind in the alpaca operation, with the wife’s disc issues and being empty nesters. Youngest son was a big help before he got hired to do design work on submarines for the department of the Navy. But I’m proud of him and happy to see him move on.

Peddlers Village always has beautiful holiday displays.
Unfortunately the most direct route home from church is right through the middle of Peddlers Village on Street Road.
Sometimes that small road through the heart of this very elaborate shopping center of picturesque shops is totally jammed.
I've then learned to turn right instead and go down to Aquetong Road and get home that way.
On a sunny day the week before Christmas this area is just jammed full of people.

but those lights sure are pretty. Paul's pic is just a small part of the show, the entire area is lit up.

Paul, my brother's son ran the nuke plant in a boomer, but gave up marvelous career to come home to be a financial adviser.
At which he has become very successful, lots of contacts with Naval Academy grads.
But with my sense of claustrophobia, not sure I could even tour a submarine.
Every square inch is precious on a sub, the original hot bunkers.

Well I guess if you are underwater and no shore leave, hard to get covid...which would be
crippling on a sub. Maybe that's why the Army is working on a super vaccine. Can't win with sick soldiers.
And what if the bad guys weaponize a virus? I'm very glad the Army is working on this.
A universal once a year shot that prevents all contagious illness. Now wouldn't that be something.

Drew,
He’s a civilian engineer employed by the Navy, so he only designs (parts of) them, he doesn’t get to sail in them, except maybe for testing or experiments, but the current project is the Columbia class boat, which is not operational yet.

   / Good morning!!!! #142,853
YES :) Outstanding news indeed Buppies. :)

   / Good morning!!!! #142,854
30F light snow falling upper 30's for high weather station about inch.

Outside chores done E muffin time.
Plans for today..morning trip to town for critter food, afternoon half wheel barrow kindling wheel barrel load of wood in basement, clean snow from walks and seat time on Kubota scraping driveway push back snow banks end driveway, other than that slow motion day.

Enjoy your day all.

Good morning! 30 now. The forecast changed from yesterday, now saying 36 for the high. We shall see. Predicted to be about 55 on Christmas Day with rain.

Great new @Buppies!

Not sure what I am gonna get into today. Plenty to occupy my time. Still haven’t got the snow blower drug out. Though I did get the cab parts out where I can get them easily. Got to have the cab on my snowblower! Call me a wimp, it is ok.

everyone stay safe out there!

Morning all, 34 and cloudy - some rain overnight.
Got some time to wirewheel and hammer out the mower deck last night in prep for welding.
Went to look for a small piece of 12Guage mild steel for patch, and boy is that expensive. Think I have some strapping I can use instead.

Buppies - so glad you are cleared and ready for take off (stitches that is) !
Don - Staple remove party !

Glad to hear such good news on the health front for so many of you.

Stay safe and be well,
Got a bit surprised while typing on the laptop. A buck and his harem were out "playing" in front of the house. Got one pic before they ran off, not great since through screen:

Did some more work after this picture of the deck. Now need to scrounge up some filler metal.

Don, good you got staples out. No pictures needed.
No Knee pics today Ron. That's because the staples don't come out till tomorrow. 😁 Can't leave the zipper knee pic in Erics and Mostly mind to haunt them every time they see a zipper.

Good morning! 48˚F heading to the high 60s, south wind, full sun. PT coming out this morning to see if she can make me cringe really really good.

New covid cases continue to be high, the big display case of covid test at Walgreens is sold out. My wife reported Walgreens was very crowded the prescription line was around the building and all parking spots taken. A friend of ours in Kyle's county has covid after she was sick for few days and got tested. Found out covid infected people not vaccinated get really offensive when asked if they were vaccinated. Instead of a simple "no" they want to explain how many people that are vaccinated get covid and etc . . . .
I'm ok with people not wanting to be vaccinated but don't get defensive when asked when you contract covid, it sounds like they lost all pride in their decision, and no I'm not judgmental just want the facts.

nice visit with landscaper at church, getting my second estimate for dirt work.

Drove in, heard a scratchy noise, thinking oh no, what is that. Sounded like something stuck underneath but
didn't remember driving over anything.
So I walk around the car and just laughed. There hanging down behind the front right tire was a somewhat worn but fully usable
Snap On 10MM wrench. Now I really don't think it was kicked up from the road and miraculously stuck in some spot. I think the last mechanic dropped it someplace
and it finally worked its way down and almost out. It pulled out pretty easily. May never know. Nice 10mm wrench, thanks Santa.

Ah! My lost 10mm wrench. Not sure how it could have ended up in your truck.
