Good morning!!!!

Good morning, low temp is 28 and going to a high of 32°F. Wind WSW 11 mph. Mainly sunny.

We only got a skiff of snow last night.

I have 5 hard drive bays in this computer case. 4 of them are taken up with the 'C,D,E and F' drives. I also have 2 Western digital 1 TB virgin hard drives, so I will put one of them into the case and call it the 'C' drive.

The township I live in has decided that they will charge residents and home owners $15.oo/yard for construction rubble over and above their taxes. I get a receipt for every thin dime I shell out to them and will deduct that money off my taxes. I call what they are doing 'double dipping' and will be looking to see whether or not that is legal.

I'm going out this morning to (a) see what the holdup is on the new power washer repairs and (b) get a new battery in the key fob for the Dodge. I might drop around to the hydraulic shop and see about rebuilding the curl cylinders for the Kioti loader.

Have a safe day all

38 going to 49. Was a windy 77 yesterday.

I got up early to look at the eclipse, too. Very cool. Went to bed with a full moon, got up at 4 and was totally dark. Ran a possum off while I was outside.

Don, sent you a message about your question.

Got some painting and caulking done with the warm temps yesterday, and used the tractor for firewood. Plus, I still hadn't cleaned out my ash pit from last year's fires, so filled the FEL bucket and moved it. Now ready to fire up the woodstove this morning. It's pretty late in the year to only have burned the stove for one stretch of about 3 or 4 days.

good morning all
39 going up to 49 today, should be mostly sunny.
Only .05 on rain gauge this morning.

I've been looking at the ten day calendar wondering when I can go finish the walkway grouting. Lot of nights below freezing.
Other guys said not to worry about temps, just cover with tarp when done and heat of earth will help. Ok.

Ron, sorry about your neighbor. My little school had to send the second grade home last week, one child, then four, tested positive.
All are ok and immediately went on virtual schooling. This is absolutely exhausting for a staff to manage, our head of school was almost falling asleep
in a finance meeting last night. No rest for the weary, and this stupid virus is just not going away. I think core problem now is kids and school, just kids playing
as kids do. One more hurdle to get over, getting most of the kids vaccinated. We have ongoing vaccination clinics held right at the school.

glad like a good dog I have my "shots", including flu shot last week. I read this morning Austria just shut down their country due to covid and are mandating vaccinations
for everyone. Europe is having plenty of continuing problems with covid. Not good for travel industry.

Eric, are conditions getting better in UK?

5 hard drives Bill? I think you are ready for anything.

hope you all have a nice day.

37° and .17” rain. Still windy.

Gotta go do it again.

41 heading to 48 today. Yes, spectacular moon. But just a few minutes ago, on the horizon, wow. What a sight to see. Another 500 years, and I imagine I will enjoy the view from a different angle.

Never did get outside to just sit by the pool. It was a nice day yesterday too. Guess I mismanaged my time again.

The repair shop and I worked out a deal on a new to me log splitter. I about tripled my tonnage and even managed to get it home and working late yesterday. I priced newer engines, and unfortunate, stock is rather low in this area. So rather than go through that hassle and time, he had one ready to go and I jumped on it.

Guess I will finally be splitting wood again, and it appears to be just in time for the weekend.

On a sad note, good friends Mom passed from Covid. Even sadder we are worried about the mental health of his SO now. The repercussions of losing a loved one go far beyond the one that passes.

Hope all have a great day, Be safe, stay warm, and get healthy if you are ailing.

Good morning! 35˚F and dropping, the big question will this morning be our first frost? This afternoon mid 60s.

Went to the new mega H.E.B. grocery store about 20 minutes from us. (Our old H.E.B. is about 12 minutes away in the opposite direction). It was crowded, grand opening a week before Thanksgiving - good timing. Thousands of new homes and a new high school in the area that were not here a year ago. Open boarders and people from California have really increased our population in this area along with all the multi million $ business relocating here. It's gone from green rolling hills to rolling hills covered with rooftops.

Today I'll make it out to the garden to pick kale and get some seat time.

Ron, you are getting some really colorful backgrounds on your morning pics, nice. Were your covid neighbors vaccinated?
This man-made vaccination is just not as good as our natural immunity.
In Waterford Ireland where 99.5% of the population was double vaccinated they are having a surge of covid cases . . .hmmm.

Riptides, look like you got the right machine for those large logs, have fun with that machine!

I'm thinking of getting a cold therapy machine now for after knee surgery. Anyone have experience with one and what I should be looking for. I saw this one on Amazon.

The web page list only 15 Walgreens in Texas that house a Labcorp. Might want to call ahead.

LabCorps in your area that are not in Walgreens:
3331 COLORADO BLVD, DENTON, TX 76210
571 W MAIN ST STE 110, LEWISVILLE, TX 75057

Closest Labcorp in Walgreens:
1919 E. FRANKFORD RD, CARROLLTON, TX 75007
Thanks for the information, Don. I'm quite familiar with all 3 of those locations. Just haven't decided whether it's worth the time, money, and effort to be tested.:D

30 degrees in Denton this morning, but 32 degrees here, 10 miles south of the airport, but going for a sunny high of 61 today. And no plans to do anything today.:D

An inch this evening and another inch tonight, that is all they are talking about.

They actually upgraded the snow squall warning to 8” yesterday, but we got maybe 1/4”. Wow, talk about a miss!

Meanwhile, we just have a wee bit of dock work left at the rental property, and then we will be all set for winter. (Just have to get the snowplow attached to the ATV, which is maybe a five minute job.)

Tomorrow, I get my booster shot! Interestingly, I get mine earlier than other people because my first two shots were Astra Zeneca. If I had gotten Pfizer or Moderno I would not be eligible for a booster unless I was in a special group, like Frontline healthcare workers. SWMBO is, and she already got her booster. So now we are both covered! (Big relief.)

Time for that 2nd cup of coffee!

Good Morning.
It’s 38 and going to 45 today.

Yesterday kept me on my toes. It started off normally, I helped the electrician working at my son’s house fish some wires for recessed LED lighting and some additional outlets and switches. Old work is always interesting, but I have a decent arsenal of tools for it, Fiberglass fish rods, magnet puller, long flexible bits, etc. we did pretty well with minimum collateral wall and ceiling damage to be repaired.
On a trip home for tools, I heard a strange sound in the shop which turned out to be the death rattle of a 21cu ft freezer upstairs that had about 22 cu ft of food in it. I was able to put it all it tubs and take it to my friends restaurant and put it in his walk in freezer.
Now the trick was to find new freezer. I didn’t think it would be easy, after hearing the stories here, and that was the case. No appliance or big box stores had anything within the 100 mile search radius. So I looked at the old one to see what went wrong. Turns out it has a reversing valve like a heat pump that it uses for defrost, and that failed. So I reclaimed the refrigerant, and cut the reversing valve out and brazed it back together without it. Recharged it, and now had a working manual defrost freezer.
Went back to computer while it was cooling down, and did some more searching. This time, a Lowes store about 20 miles away showed one 20 cu ft freezer in stock, so I ordered it online for pick up at the store. They actually had it there and the pickup went smoothly. I used an electric winch and appliance dolly to get it upstairs, unpacked it and plugged it in, went home and went to bed.

I slept through the eclipse, my wife got up and saw it. Today I’ll work on getting the old freezer downstairs, and getting the food back into the new one. Hopefully no more surprises today.

Yep, I had the same thoughts, but since insurance paid for it, and my curiosity was high, and it is the only test that gives you information if your body was able to utilized the vaccine, why not. The vaccines were never rated at 100% and as that guy in the meeting proved on some people it is complete ineffective and no antibodies are sustained.

No frost this morning, looks like we will be frostless until December.

Good Morning!!!! 54F @ 5:15AM. Light rain this morning. Then remaining cloudy. High 59F. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 60%.
I can hear it sprinkling on the roof right now, just started a few minutes ago. Radar only shows scattered clouds around, so it won't amount to much. No more rain in the Weather Underground 10-day, but the weather person on TV last night said we'd have showers on and off next week. And a man with two clocks doesn't know what time it is, either.

No use getting up for the eclipse as thick clouds have been covering the sky since yesterday morning.

After being boosted, not sure what good it would do to know what my antibody level is. Can't do anything about it either way. So I'll continue to distance, sanitize, and mask in public.

Was going to drive the van to town yesterday. It would crank but not start, the cold start problem it's always had seems to be permanent. Maybe now I can find out what's wrong.

Uneventful trip to town yesterday, and was able to get the part I need to reassemble the motorcycle transmission. No sign of the owner's manual I ordered for it, though.

Grocery store and Costco were really busy, probably folks stocking up for Thanksgiving. Lots of turkeys in the freezer cases; is $0.99/lb more than past years?

Morning all, sunny, windy and a bit colder at 39

Yesterday was so nice that I went out to clear some trail space in the lower front area.
Using the FS110 and renegade blade cleared about 200' towards the main road.

Towards the end I saw something that looked out of place.
It ended up being a white metal tree stand.
The renegade blade cut through the metal cable locking it to the tree and stand is now sitting on the ground.
I hope this is old and just left behind, my property is clearly posted!

I have a hunter the other side of driveway. He has been around for years, hoping this was maybe just one he forgot when he set up his new stand.

The renegade blade seems to be dulling after about 4 hours of heavy use. Cutting 3-4 inch brush and lots of berry vines. Maybe time to get the scratch blade sharpened and finish this trail.

Hoping to get to the road and cut back some brush there and return through the woods to my other trail.
That would make about 1/2 mile or so of trails, maybe more if added the current open areas.

BEF- you ok? Seem to be in a mood with groundhog day fever?

Check 8" to 1/4" are you complaining

So just got back after some guy in a truck cursed out and threatened my wife for trying to pass him while doing 25 in a 45 for a few miles.
They didn't expect me to get out there so quick and the guy ran away.
I have pictures of their plates (2 guys following each other) and know the house where they went to.

24°F and clear-ish skies this morning, going up to 49° today. Looks like we'll be back up in the upper 50s for the weekend.

I am usually pretty good at keeping my violent temper in check, Ken. However, someone being disrespectful to my Wife is the surest way to get to see my ugly side. Glad nothing more came of your encounter.

I'm thinking of getting a cold therapy machine now for after knee surgery. Anyone have experience with one and what I should be looking for. I saw this one on Amazon.
I used one after my shoulder surgery. Harvey sent me his to use. It worked good. I now have my own. It is a Donjoy. I used blue ice packs in mine instead of ice. Dr wanted me to only use it for 20 minutes at a time. I hooked up a remote switch that I could turn on and off from my chair. I bought a second one off FB Marketplace that I used in the bedroom. I still have them figuring at my age I will need them again.
Neighbor was not vaccinated. His wife was.

Groundhog Day pretty much described it. By the time I get home from work, not much time to do much, rinse and repeat the next day.

Son flies in tonight, so get to hang around work longer to wait for him.

Sorry for the incident w the wife, seems a lot of road rage these days.

Got to 39, now 48 and very breezy.

Breakfast with old friend this morning, I’ve known him since 1973 when I moved to the Eastern Shore, he informed me that a mutual friend of the same period, had died last January. The ranks are thinning.

nice chat with local lumberyard, they told me to throw out rock hard portland cement, it was ruined. Ok, makes sense.
So they loaded another 94 pound bag of cement into my truck, and I got a bag of polymeric sand also for my own project here at the house.
If I put a wheelbarrow under the pickup tailgate and drag the bag out I can do this. But no way can I pick that sucker up. Not without paying for days, or more.
So tomorrow should be a clear day, wish it were warmer, but have a big section of flagstone walkway to grout. We kid each other about who is
holding up the works.

This flagstone work is preventing use of our handicap entrance door so fair amount of pressure to get this done. I've gotten out my double kneed work jeans and they really help
save my knees, even using a garden kneeler. Never could get comfortable with those big rubber knee pads. Always seemed to be chasing them around my knees...

bought some apples from my other very local orchard, very cool to live among apple orchards. (but then look at my avatar...)
Chatted with owner, told her I had orchards in NC and we yapped for awhile, and she sent me home with the nicest assortment of
apples, all separately bagged and labelled, and she threw in an extra pear on top. Wow. I was very impressed and grateful for such good service.

First apple I had was a different variety than other orchard, which is great. At this time of year, they are all good.
Now if I could only remember which one is which...at least ten varieties, maybe more. Not organic, neither local orchard is.

off to suck up the red maple leaves. It really is pretty out there, hate to see the leaves go but will be happy to put the mower away for the winter.
Not for awhile though, some of those trees hang on to some big durable leaves.
