When I first hunted with a borrowed blackpowder rifle, that procedure was required. The more modern version allows you to just remove the firing cap which makes the gun considered safe and "unloaded" by the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources. Sorta like having a rifle cartridge without the primer, I guess. There is still just one bullet (.50 caliber), loaded from the muzzle along with powder, and the cloud of smoke when fired.

Thanks Wng, very interesting.

44 going to 63. Sunshine.

Ron, awesome pic.

Mostly, you go it squeezed in there.

Buppies, sorry...hope you feel better soon.

Bef, glad you had a good camping trip. We drove over the mountains yesterday to the Shenandoah Valley and spent some time exploring some villages and a trailhead. Ate lunch in Elkton at the El Paso...great Mexican food...I know you visit the area and wondered if you've been there. It was packed. Parked next to an old truck...might have to get one...

52 heading to upper 50's today. Septic is all done. Reseeded area look like they made it through the last deluge.

Recovering from the weekend. Attempted to resurrect the generator and log splitter this weekend since I had some free time. Did not go well. Also freed my hay elevator from mother nature. Looks like it needs to move a couple of hundred hay bales to the barn as its last great project before it or I go to the scrap heap.

Nice mill pics, wngsprd.

Hope your feeling better, Buppies.

Have a good work week all. Be safe.

Good Morning.
It’s 49 with a high of 55 forecast.
Clear skies and gentle winds. Should be a nice day.

I spent the majority of yesterday in the shop, continuing to put stuff away and clean up. Plenty of distractions along the way. As an example, I found a nice goose peck mounted led lighted magnifier with a broken plastic clip on base. Instead of throwing it out, I made a new flange mount for it that I could screw to the bench top.

You can get an idea of the scale of my mess by the clutter on the bench in the background. That’s pretty much what every horizontal surface looks like.
Spent some time mixing, I thought of PJ when I was lowering the level of some enthusiastic crash cymbal hits to better sit in the mix.
No real plan for today, I’ve got to make a trip to the post office, and then continue to clean up and work on projects as I uncover them.

Good morning, low temp was 29 and the high will be 47°F. Wind W 9 mph. Sunny till noon then clouding over. 2% chance of rain.

A trip to the hydraulic shop is in the cards for today, then in the opposite direction to see what the lead time is on a new Z-turn mower.

Have a safe day all

Good Morning!!!! 56F @ 4:45AM. Periods of rain. High 62F. Winds SE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 90%. Rainfall around a quarter of an inch.
The 10-day is calling for rain on and off through the period, so fall seems to be staying on the wet side with maybe as much as another 2.5" on the way.

You all have been busy getting ready for winter. And seeing some nice fall colors, too. Thanks for sharing the photos.

Trip went well, some fall colors in the vineyards, and nice blue skies going over on Friday. Almost no traffic on the back roads, only had to follow a giant gravel truck a couple miles before it pulled off into a quarry. Cabin was sparse but cozy, and the heater worked well but was a little noisy. Started off Saturday morning in a light drizzle, enough to make sure the fairings on the touring bikes still knew how to do their jobs. Breakfast at Queenie's was delicious as usual; those gals sure know how to cook!

Then it was down to the Zen House, a motorcycle shop known for doing odd restorations. This time around they were unveiling something called a Miller Balsomic, a little Italian two stroke of which only three exist. Of course it was red.

Lots of food was also on offer, not that we needed any more after that huge breakfast, but it would have been impolite not to at least try everything, wouldn't it?;) That was accompanied by another bout of drizzle, but fast action with my umbrella soon got it stopped. Blue skies returned for the ride back to camp, then on and off drizzle around the campfire where the umbrella wasn't quite as effective. After a round or two of Mr. Basil Hayden's finest Kentucky Bourbon, no one seemed to mind much.

Sunday's ride home started on the cloudy side, with another great breakfast at Queenie's, dry and warm enough to sit outside on the patio. The roads were wet under the redwoods, finally drying out when I got down out of the coastal mountains. Even had a few blue patches in the sky by the time I got home. Unpacked, took a nice shower and got in a nap, another campfire to finish the day.

Radar shows another front off to the west, so it looks like a wet afternoon. Not sure what's on the agenda yet, but it'll be inside whatever it is.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a great start!

Good morning! 47˚F heading to 80 with clear skies. Nice pic Ron a good assortment of reds.

Arm is finally not tender to touch after booster, no other side effects for us.

Our new Plant based group is planning a meal out in December and a local Mexican restaurant downtown is cooperating. There are now 97 people on the email list. Some are just starting out and other have been eating this way for 15 years.

Been winning at cards finally again and starting to move up in the quarterly ranking and am in the top 1/5 after the first month.

Today the new neighborhood trail has an open house with the hiking club members meeting, greeting and guiding. The trail is shaped like a T along two creeks with each line a mile long. I only worked on the laying out of the trail last fall when my knee was better. Yesterday evening I hiked on the last third with Whipper to see how it looks finished. We saw a guy tanking a video of a flock of turkeys which he proudly showed us.

Looking forward to a wet and cold mid-week.

Finally found a Lithium Golf cart that caught my attention, the new EV Titan (Spyder or Rover) and they sell them in the next town about 20 miles away. Maybe next Spring.
Under lights and back-up camera
