44°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 75° today.

Got to work earlier this morning to find an email from the owner that his wife had died suddenly on Saturday. No word yet on what happened. She was 78.

Nice pictures, gents.

Good Morning!!!! 46F and raining @ 6:15AM. Rain early. A mix of sun and clouds by afternoon. High 62F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 90%.
It started raining at about 7PM yesterday, a nice, steady drizzle that's lasted all night. Maybe get another tenth out of it this morning.

That's a monster Takeuchi, Kyle. Does your buddy have a monster dump truck and trailer to haul it around, too?

I bet that limb made some noise when it came down, Ken. Glad you weren't there to see it.

Welcome to the GM thread, Gale!

Was it Kyle that put a Chinese carb that came with the wrong jets on something? Could that be the same problem on the golf cart, Randy?

Got the dirt out of the grizzly yesterday and filled some low spots with it, then spread gravel over it. Opening the 4in1 just a crack made for some easy spreading, but it was too easy to open it too far. Very windy outside before the storm got here, hard to keep my hat and dust in my face on the tractor. Refueled both the tractor and side-by-side; hope I left enough in the truck to get to town.

Not sure what happened to the rest of the day, but I did get a little nap in.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a good start...

I certainly have a Chinese carb so you never know.
I’m going to replace the replacement electric fuel pump with an original vacuum operated unit and a new coil. If that doesn’t fix it it’s going to a pro.

planted two more flats of pachysandra and I think I'm done for this year.
Watered them all down and that's a wrap.
Now going to do some burgers on the grill and pull some radishes.

Good afternoon, 2 teaser tups have just been taken out, 6 non-blank firing tups have joined the flock. There are some very happy sheep out there.

Does any of that vegetation irritate one's skin?
Not really, except Blackthorn has 2 inch+ thorns. You could say it is irritating when they find a weak spot through my gloves. :)

Eric does hedge make good firewood?
When left for long enough hedges provide some good firewood. I save anything over 2" diameter, often thinner stuff too. Hawthorn is the most common and is my favourite. I am more than happy to burn hazel, cherry and field maple too and would do so even if gas hadn't gone up as much in price - especially as we have no piped gas !

I have more trouble uploading photos than it should be IMO. I upload them once, Pick insert thumbnail, and it only shows "ATTACH........" and nobody can click on it. Then I upload it again, and it shows fullsize and thumbnail.....I guess I need to go to photo upload school...
Kyle, please let me in on the secret one you have graduated, half my picture posts also need 2 attempts.

Wng, hope your flashes and floaters diminish with time. Mine are not quite as noticeable as at first, still never a day without them.
New imperfections in our bodies really annoy at first. Once we realise we probably have them for the rest of our days, we learn to live with them while we get on with making the most of all the good things in life.

60F and sunny @ 12:30 and heading up to a high 64F with "abundant sunshine", after hitting a low of 41.4F this morning.

Yesterday did not go quite like I was anticipating. The wind was blowing pretty good and it seemed rather chilly out there in it so I mostly stuck to working in garage until late in the day when the wind slacked off a little.

Got a couple of drain pans fully emptied and cleaned out.

Old filters and fluids hauled up to the shop, waste oil emptied into the waste oil drum and old hydraulic fluid stowed away.

Cut four rebar stakes for cages.

Got two more cages made out of poultry netting for the peach trees and got those put out on the trees.

Drill the lid of an old cat treat container to make a shaker dispenser for E-Coriganite.

Used the netting that the iris rhizomes came in to make up 10 bags for 1/2 bars of Irish Spring to deploy on various shrubs we'd like to keep the deer away from. Got those all put out, except for one which I noticed had a rip in it. Need to cut some more bars in half and make up more bags.

Harvested about dozen and a half ripe tomatoes from the garden. Still more on the vine but don't know if they manage to ripen.

Yesterday's colors:

Agenda for today:

Finish new planting bed prep on east side of frog pond, lay out planting grid for irises.

Get the Rose of Sharon planted.

Maybe some other items as well.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe Monday ... (y)

Temp dropped to lower 40s and we had frost on the roof...first of the year.

Always cool seeing Bald Eagles.

Eric, how's your eye...still see flashes? I hadn't noticed mine for a very long time, then saw some in the dark on the drive up to the mountains...after it got light, saw some floaters, too...just the left eye...my eye doctor's office is closed on Fridays, so called this morning...was told it is likely due to aging, of course...the "test" is to cover the good eye, then look at something like the light switch on the wall..."while still staring at the light switch, can you see the ceiling, floor, and to the sides?" ...ensuring peripheral vision, so all good unless it gets worse.
My wife has the flashing lights in the eye also. It could be a sign of retinal detachment or shrinking of the vitreous (age related). She did get her's checked out and it was not retinal detachment but she was told to report any changes.

51F and clear @ 20:30, headed down to an overnight low of 43F.

The shorter days are really cramping my style ... :(

Ran trash and outgoing mail up to the road first thing.

Found the rat's nest of mason line in the barn after that ... and even managed to get it untangled and rolled up on a piece of rebar.

Then refill hopper feeder.

The Woman worked on kitchen mostly but came out later and washed out the large pet carrier. The abandoned cat will be making a trip to the shelter later this week ... unless a neighbor of ours wants him.

Spent most of the rest of the day compacting and leveling that new planting bed east of the frog pond. Had to haul down another 8 bucketloads of screened compost, probably need a few more before it's all said and done ... but it should be fairly close.

Started trimming back the irises I got locally before She called that dinner was ready.

Just ran the recycles up to the road and collected today's mail, then put Kubota and Cub away for the night.

Heading down to feed the fish here in a few.

Hope everyone had a great day ... (y)
