was surprised to wake up in middle of night and all was quiet, expected rain, but it's here now, gentle at the moment, but
turning to thunderstorms later, likely between 4 and 5 inches of rain expected.

nothing planned for today other than office work. Need to finish the security analysis for church, good project for a rainy day.

Roy, good luck with adjuster, always ask if he is approving new oem parts or something else.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 59° with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 77° with lots of sunshine. Sure was nice to have a cool day while out on porch. Got nothing done other than reminisce about things with my sister and BIL. Little house cleaning today.

Everyone stay safe and healthy.

Good Morning All.

74 going to 82, and likely storms from Ida remnants.

Very pretty hostas, RS.

BEF, dinner from the garden sounds good. My wife cooked up a tasty side dish by chopping patty pan squash, zucchinis, tomatillos, and a few slices of jalapenos, all from our garden. It wasn't spicy, but a very nice blend of flavors.

Yesterday we drove around and looked at a few houses with roof shingles of the colors we were considering, after getting addresses from the companies. Last planned meeting with roofer this morning. Ron and others, thanks for feedback on your roof shingles.

Rain sure did move since last night, it’s half past us already according to radar, and we are on southern edge. Got 1.16” overnight.

Trying to decide if I want to stay home today.

Morning all, rain has started and won't end for a bit, still saying >3"
So yesterday got the starter cap (dual) , went to remove old cap (and mouse nest).
Found cap was cooked, as expected and the compressor lead had separated. Fan was still working though, tough Cap.

Put the new cap in after fixing wire with new lug. Now compressor starts, but FAN doesn't.

Checked and is the right cap, so new one on order. Found one made in USA which hopefully will fix the quality issue with the current "new" not working capacitor. Lucky this is for the guest apartment and no one scheduled to be here until later in September, where ceiling fan may be enough anyway.

Mostly- Bar oiling is fine, bar shoots oil when running, I increase it a bit when using the 20" bar over the 18".

Stay safe and be well,

Cap aged a lot since last year, hope new, new one works:

Good morning.

Today we need to have 2 things repaired:

- treadmill stopped working. Has an error code saying a part went bad. Guy is coming to replace.

- had a few shingles come off roof. Way high. No chance I can get up there - so, roofer should come today to replace.

So, today I wait for help to arrive.

Have a good day everyone.

Good Morning.
It’s 68 and raining. Rain is going to continue all day and night for a total of 2-5 inches depending on the forecaster. They do agree that the high temp will be around 72. I think the disparity in rain totals centers around localized heavier rain in thunderstorms, and their likelihood.

Yesterday was a very productive day, once I got home from Lexington, I got the speaker packed up and off to FedEx, hooked up Progressive to the tractor, picked up my helper from his nap, and we got all the mowing done, youngest son helped by doing most of the Lazer work while we mowed the open areas.
By the time everything was done and the equipment was put away, it was dark and spitting rain. It would have been a great time to call it a day, but there was a big box that UPS left me in the shop that was calling me.
So I had to unpack and set up the new welder, gave it a quick test, which it passed effortlessly, and then called it a day.
Today will be a day in the shop at a very leisurely pace, there is nothing that “has” to be done today. I hope to clean up and organize the welding table, and put away the tools and clean up after rushing the speakers out the door.

It’s real food for thought watching the news and seeing the country being decimated by weather and fire, and I suppose even the fires are due to weather. With all of the technology we have, we can fly a drone on Mars, but we can’t really predict natural events, instead we only get to watch them unfold.

Good September one morning! Starting out to be a warmer month than August. 78˚F heading to near 100, lots of sun. We are getting dry, it does not seem fair, some of your guys get all the rain from Ida and all we get is the refugees.

Mom got her DL, no test of any kind just show up and a new pic every two years, unless you are Bird, then it's every 20 years. LOL.
We were the only ones in the DMV office that's open only two days a week, but the first thing that was asked for was proof of an appointment.

Lawn and Garden day and a pass day on the 3pm trail work when the temp will be near 100˚. These are the cedar limbs that need to be hauled to the mulcher along the trails that broke because of the weight of the snow and ice in February.

.

It’s beyond me why everything else is open and doing business as normal, but essential government offices still operate like this. I’m really surprised it’s happening in TX.

I saw Bela many years ago in NYC, amazing and he did talk to the audience a bit, but my memory fails me on what the conversations were.

68°F and drizzle this morning, going up to 82° today. Looks like highs may not get out of the 70s Friday and Saturday. I'm OK with that.

Mostly_, the Big Boy came through the STL area. Apparently according to their Facebook posts, several of my friends took the day off from work to go see it. An amazing piece of machinery to be sure, and nearly as amazing is the response it gets when they parade it around.

While I am decidedly NOT a fan of the banjo, Chris, I am a fan of the incredibly talented Bela Fleck. That guy is an amazing musician, and seems to have the ability to always surround himself with other amazing musicians.

Bela’s long time bassist, Victor Wooten is amazing as well.
Victor was an Ampeg endorser when I worked there. Had the privilege of speaking with him several times. He was always a really nice guy. Anytime he was near St. Louis, he would stop in and chat, mostly because he wanted to visit with one of our Service Department guys, Phil Burton, who is something of a St. Louis bass legend. Victor always managed to insert into the conversation, "Dude, why are you still here?" ... which was kind of a running theme with many famous artists who heard Phil play.

And yeah, Victor's triplet-slap-pops still vex me to this day. I know how he does it (he even showed me one day in slo-mo), yet I just can't do it.

Good morning to all! Low of 54, going up to the mid 80's. A much better chance of showers and T-storms today. Didn't get any rain the past few days. I hope to get just a little the next few days....

Drew, good job on the BIG picture frame!:D

Hope you Bucks Co guys don't get too much rain.... 2-5 inches is a lot!

Wng, hope you are able to get the roof done at a reasonable cost.

Roy, hope the adjuster is fair.... seems like they always try to save a buck when having to 'pay out'.

I can't trust the weather guessers, so the drip system will get a workout today. Also going to get the miscellaneous stockpiles of materials reorganized and consolidated.

Tomorrow will be a big day.... appt. with the ortho surgeon.... apparently going to get a bunch of range of motion tests on the knee. Maybe I can get an answer about the swelling. He may give me an MMI rating during this visit.

Everyone have a great day!

Good Morning!!!! 60F @ 6:30 AM. Sunny. High 87F. Winds S at 10 to 15 mph.
Yesterday's high was 95F, I might have to wear a sweater today at only 87 F. Brrrrr!🥶

I wonder how long it'll be before the real estate bubble pops, just like what's happening to lumber now.

That's a pair to draw to, David!(y)

If I recall correctly, the defective shingles on my first home's roof were from Owens Corning, and had to be replaced after only 10 years. A law suit had been filed against them, and I was able to recoup some, but not all, of the cost from the proceeds.

Yesterday the National Forest managers in California shut everything down until the 17th, and the National Parks followed suit. So much for Labor Day campouts and such. I had plans to visit Sequoia National Park the next week, so now thinking about the Oregon coast. Cool fog seems to be calling.

grizzlyFrameScreenMounted.jpg

I had just finished the mounts for the screen on the grizzly when the neighbor texted that his grandpa wants to use his I-beam steel for fence posts. After getting the frame mounted, it's not going to be strong enough to withstand lifting the grizzly with the FEL, so today I'll see what kind of king's ransom the local steel warehouse wants for grizzly bars. Already emailed them a request for quote, but would be very surprised to get a reply.

Also read in the motorcycle club newsletter that the new board is considering revisions to one of the Canons to be more "inclusive". That Canon reads "Airheads ride Beemers with air cooled heads.", and it's the essential quality upon which the whole idea of the club was based. I sent email off this morning to the board (and copied the newsletter editor) suggesting that maybe they need to find a new club instead of trying to ruin this one.

Hope everyone's September gets off to a good start!
