74F and "Fair" @ 22:30, heading down to an overnight low of 65F. High tomorrow only 72F ... (y)

Hopper and one sunflower tube feeder refilled. Also the two suet cake feeders in the back.

Woman picked up the fitting I needed for the drain valve/garden hose connection on the 65 gallon spray tank (on the second trip) so I got that glued up. "Mr. Helpful" down at the hardware store sometimes isn't so helpful ... but his heart is in the right place at least.

Also put the teflon on both ends, and the brass adapter and got it all screwed together into the tank. Just need to strap it down to the pallet and fill it and check it for leaks.

2" adapter and pipe nipple taken out of old valve on water buffalo, threads cleaned up and teflon taped. Fittings installed on new valve and installed in the 55G drum. Just need to fill and check it for leaks.

Hosed off 4 horizontals for the industrial shelving.

Another 25 gallons of RM18 mixed up in the sprayer for tomorrow.

Took the cordless drill up to the shop and unscrewed the fencer off the wall and brought it down to the house, cleaned it off and plugged it in, and then mounted it out back by the electrical outlet.

Woman helped me get the 4 t-posts installed for the electric fence. They're not perfectly vertical by any means but close enough. Then ran 3 strands of high-tensile wire and installed the 6 step-in fence posts along the side and put the tensioners on. Top strand is about at my eye level, bottom strand is about 4" - 5" off the ground. Will add at least 2 more strands, more likely 3 ... and some pie tins so the deer can see it's there.

Still need to drive the ground rods in and run a wire from the fencer out to the fence itself. Just hoping no one gets into it and gets tangled up tonight before I get it electrified.

Woman watered the garden and the iris and others while some of that was going on.

Deer are doing a good job keeping the apples policed up and off the lawn:

Hope everyone had a great day ... (y)

Good Morning.
It’s 69 going to 75 today with clear skies.
Yesterday had some severe weather pass through including tornados.

My day yesterday didn’t go as planned. Did press the bearings ooff and on for the friend, then went and fixed one one the heat pumps I looked at, condemned the other one. Played music with some neighbors later on.

Paul hope you had safe trip. Is the airplane work the starter issue you mentioned a while back?

I’m going to Nantucket this morning, yesterday’s weather made the postponement a prudent choice.
Yes the airplane repair is replacing the starter contactor.

good morning all
storms never did much here in Milton DE last night but not so at home.
Neighbor emailed me last night, power off, all my big flower pots blown over, might
have a bit of a mess to go home to this morrning.
At least it will be a nice day, sunny and in mid 80's.

drinking my friend's Sumatran dark coffee that will truly put hair on my teeth, and then
headed North around 9am. First headed to barber for an overdue haircut, then the lawn will surely need mowing.

averaged 34.8mpg on way down here on big roads. I just set the cruise at 6-7 over and let the world fly by me.

Toppop, next trip we will get together, this one complicated due to friend's schedule.
I look forward to it.

/ Good morning!!!! #136,310
63F and clear @ 06:00, headed up to a high of around 75F.

Thunderstorm came through late last night in the wee hours and dumped nearly an inch of rain.

Grass needs mowed but likely too wet ... so I think I will core aerate it again ... :)

Possibly mow later today if it dries up enough but will need to run out and get gas before I do that.

Other than that stringing more wire for the electric fence and pounding in the ground rods will probably be on the menu.

Spraying will probably have to wait another day until the ground dries up a little more.

/ Good morning!!!! #136,311
Ron, I was looking at map of Michigan and it looks like I go North on 75 right past you all the way North. Past the Hamtramck auto plant, must be a lot going on there right now, past Royal Pontiac (is it still there?). Looks like road parallels Woodward Ave. Drove that once long time ago at a family wedding near Detroit. Hope to be up your way next summer. Likely with a car but who knows.

My friends here in DE are planning on their first rv and we discussed that a lot last night.
I'll get another one, but not while I'm single. Just too hard for me to do it all at this point, sharing would be good.

/ Good morning!!!! #136,312
While the best route may look like I 75. Best route is US 23 from Toledo North. I live 10 miles East of intersection of US 23 and I 96. You will see a auto/truck plant as you get to where US 23 and I 75 meet in flint. Royal Pontiac no longer exist. I believe the building is still there.
I 75 does not take you by Hamtramck plant. Miss it by 1 mile East on I 94.

75 and clear, going to 90...local weatherman promised us rain yesterday, saying he was superseding the NWS forecast...he tried, but no cigar.

Mostly, I had to look up Bucyrus...interesting.

My 6 weeks of operation recovery ends this morning, so will probably get some seat time today...humidity is supposed to drop around lunch time, so will feel good outside.

/ Good morning!!!! #136,314
Good Morning!!!! 82F @ 4:30AM. Sunshine and clouds mixed. Hot. High around 105F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.
Seems as though those Dog Days are already here. Smoke did clear up some overnight, but is on its way up again. Already at unhealthy levels, soon the air filter will be whirring away.

Last night thunderstorms rolled over the Dixie Fire area, starting half a dozen new fires with lightning strikes. Pretty sure they have the same problem farther south, too. At least up here, firefighters are already in place, and have already started to respond.

Enjoy your seat time, Billy. Got any big hikes planned?

I bet that big doe can eat a lot of landscape plants, Ron.

Hope you have a smooth trip home, Drew, and the mess waiting for you isn't too bad.

The front gate has been acting up again, so I had a long conversation with a tech support person and came away with a checklist of things to check. Everything came out OK, so I called again from the gate on the cell phone, and amazingly got reception. New tech had me check the battery voltage while the gate opened, and I saw it drop to 11.99V. He said that was too low, and would result in erratic operation of the gate. The battery passed a load test, but only showed 75% State of Charge. Seems like the little 10W solar panel at the gate isn't keeping up with the needs of the opener, so this morning I ordered a 50W replacement. In the mean time, the battery went on a Battery Saver overnight, and I'm hoping that holds it until the new panel shows up. All the smoke in the air is not helping things much.

Got ahold of the neighbor with the water truck, and he's OK for early next week. Now need to set that up with the neighbor that has the big well. My well is still pumping a little water, but erratically, and not nearly enough to fill that big tank. I haven't done the calculation yet, but the water level in Lake Oroville is probably below the level of the well pump now. It's nearing a historic low, and that's not helping things, either.

Smoke or no smoke, I need to get started on the wiring for the big tank today. Never pulled 560' of wire before, and I'm sure it'll be "interesting".

TGIF gang!🍻

Buckeye, late for work after doing work?
.

Yep, late for work because I worked on camper while it was cool and humid, instead of hot and humid. Same thing I’m doing now. Got the last 2 rivets in the awning, tires inflated. Just gotta load truck then hook up.

Nice breeze at times, sitting in the shade of the barn.

AC unit is loud, like the motor is unbalanced. Puts out cold air. Neighbors at campground won’t like it.

74°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 84°. We'll not get out of the 70s for three of the next four days. Some very active storms rolled through last night starting around 10pm, and worked the dogs into a frenzy. One is absolutely terrified of them, and tried several times to crawl under the bed (where she simply doesn't fit). Wife eventually took her to the basement and let her stay down there.

Not as much sleep last night as I would have preferred.

No damage here. Hope you fellas over there in Bucks County PA survived undamaged. You made the news here this morning.

I would have preferred to use the tractor and rotary cutter, Ron, but it's still too soft in that area. The Cub Cadet trimmer did the job, and I needed the exercise anyway.

Good. morning! 81˚F, humidity83%, HI86, clear skies heading to the mid 90s.

Light
52070 lux

Yesterday's evening thunder and .15" rain delayed Whipper's walk till 8P.M. The trail sign said open till dark. So that led to the question what time is dark. I looked for a while on the internet till I found a source that defined dark as 4 LUX. Since The Tempest weather station records LUX light I watched it go down to 4 LUX which happened at 8:55 P.M. At that time the light is so dim that it is hard to distinguish if a snake on is the ground so I agreed.

RV friend had a noisy AC. Removed plastic cover. Found that fan had come loose from motor shaft. This allowed it to hit side of box fan assembly is in. Moved fan back to proper location on motor shaft. Tightened screw holding to shaft. Fixed. Put cover back on.
