69 going to 92 with the 3 H's. Sky just looks thick. At least it doesn't smell like smoke like RNG and others have has to deal with.

Mr and Mrs Phil, hope you have a wonderful celebration today of the love you pledged many years ago.

Don, I also keep hearing about the "surge" in C virus cases, but never see any numbers. Seems like we used to get flooded with data and numbers...some news sources displaying them continuously, prominently, almost proudly. I admit I haven't looked at much news lately, so I guess I'll dig around to see what I can find.

I know the Blue Origin space launch yesterday was just a repeat of what Alan Shepard did 60 years ago, but I found myself glued to the TV watching it. It was like sci fi to see a rocket ship return to earth and land back on its legs like a reverse of the takeoff.

Finally got to cleaning out my truck. Used the shop vac for over 2 hours and still have some dog hair...not that I really mind...nice reminder. Never found any sign of mice, so maybe the one I caught was a brand new illegal alien.

Good afternoon all. The day started out with a thick mist when we took a stroll up to the top pond to feed the fish with a few crusts. My wife heard a steam train in the distance and we waited in anticipation. Usually the sight and sound of those majestic old machines is really impressive, not so much this morning when all the steam and smoke are lost in wannabe clouds.

birds were chattering away so loudly they woke me up this morning. A fine alarm clock.
We had that too Drew, what sort of birds woke you up ? In our case it was 3 swallows that had perched on the roof window directly above us. Their chattering sounded very pleasant, although I soon closed the window in case any were tempted to fly poop circuits around the bed as happened a few years ago.

Good Morning!!!! 70F @ 5:00AM. Sunny. High 98F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.
The smoke cleared early yesterday and it stayed nice outside all day. The fire cloud didn't poke its ugly head over the skyline, but the number of helicopters and airplanes in the air just keeps increasing. Maybe they're doing some good: The fire only gained a couple thousand acres yesterday. But many Evacuation Warnings went to full on Mandatory Evacuations in the area of Lake Almanor.

No leaks overnight, so the open trench inspection of the lines is on for today. I tried to use the county website to set it up, but couldn't get it to work, and the automated phone system was on the fritz, too. Finally got through to a real person and got it scheduled.

Pulled the drive shaft out of the red bike yesterday, and the u-joint is shot. There's a rebuilder not far from here, but he's booked up until October. Gonna make some measurements today, and if they pan out right, I'll see if I can get the parts and do the work myself.

Second try at ordering CAT5e wire pooped out yesterday. More supply line issues with China. Maybe things aren't as rosy over there with CV19 as their government sez?

This shot of the pyrocumulonimbus cloud over the Dixie Fire popped up on Facebook yesterday. This crew had pulled back from the fire line under threats that the cloud was on the verge of collapse.

Several new fire starts yesterday had planes and equipment diverted from the big fires to control them while they were still small. Yesterday's report about PG&E said it took over 10 hours for the first responders to get to the Dixie fire start.

Hump Day already. Where does the week go?

Good Morning.
It’s 74 and going to 80 with thunderstorms likely today.

Yesterday was interesting, the sky was obscured by a thick haze, I’m guessing it was high altitude smoke from fires in Canada and the west. The air quality was poor. I did get all the mowing done as I had hoped, even ran the old Honda string trimmer. No sign of the grandson though, his mom had him out and about.
Neighbor came over with a shaft for me to press a bearing off and put a new one on to it. It laughed at the arbor press, but got scared when I moved it to the 50 ton hydraulic and moved without much fuss, other than a bang when it let go and started moving.

Today starts with a zoom meeting with the engineers for the Airport Authority, hopefully it will be productive. I’ve been to far too many meeting where minutes were kept, and hours were thrown away.
After that I’m going to look at the AC in a friends shop, then I’ll spend some time in my own cleaning and organizing.
UPS is supposed to bring me a Makita hedge trimmer today, after trimming with the Lazer yesterday, I know a few spots that I’m going to test it on right away.

Good Morning! 72 F at 7:30 and wet. Had over 2" rain last two days. Rather wet than hot like out west.
Took morning walk to put cracked corn for the turkeys and squirrels. Made the turn on trail and there stood ( 50 feet from me ) the young buck that hangs around since he was born. I have pictures of him growing and his antlers growing. Five point but first year. Around here maybe last! He needs to be more careful! Might get some dry weather for a couple days so I can mow the grass.

That’s not news to me, they’ve been saying such things for decades, but we love our cow.
