80 and overcast with a dew point of 74, you can wash your hands in the air.
High is headed to about 90.

We had our monthly cruise in Saturday night, proceeds went to Alzheimer’s research.
Had a minor mishap though, somebody didn’t fasten one our pop up canopies good and a gust blew it into my Ram. I don’t see any dent, thankfully they’re aluminum, looks like a pot mark. I’ll work on that today. I think the only thing hurt were my feelings.
I had a nice Mexican dinner for Fathers Day.
I took a folding chair and sat under the trees yesterday, just me and Gracie for about an hour, it was quite comfy with the breeze we had.

Gracie wanted to chase a groundhog but he was over on my neighbor’s property so I wouldn’t let her, so chased our outdoor cats instead. She doesn’t want to catch them, if they stop she just goes on past them.

I’ve been going all morning, after lunch I might take a break.

80F, very humid (HI 84) and mostly cloudy @ 11:30, was predicted to be a high of 79F for the day so we've already beat that. Chance of thunderstorms throughout the area, a few might be severe.

The Woman reports we had additional rain overnight, looks to be around 0.15" to 0.20" of accumulation. Puddles in the driveway and I can hear the grass growing.

HF did not let Woman use coupon on item, so it will be going back. It was a belt sander ... without the coupon it's overpriced ... can get essentially the same thing from Home Depot (but actual name brand: Black and Decker), for almost the same price, but with a 2-year mfg warranty (versus HF's 90 days) ... and delivered to our door (free shipping)

Eric Schmidt needs to wake up and smell the roses.

Made the run down to Menards last evening and picked up order.

Put some sunflower seeds in an old cat food can and covered the sparrow trap around dark. Will put out mealworms for the bluebirds today, refill a couple of suet feeders, hopper feeder probably needs refilled as well.

Not sure what we'll get up to today, but it's a fair bet it will mostly be an indoor day. I got the dishes done and some kitchen clean up before I went to bed last night, so she doesn't have to mess with that.

Might be a good day to get some work done in the basement.

Big cool down headed in tomorrow - only calling for a high of 67F ... :D

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ... (y)

Up early this a.m. (1.40 am.) Hand driving me nuts burning and numb. Makes sleeping difficult. Took a Prednisolone which works well after a while. Pretty cool at 8.8 deg C. Very calm and quite pleasant all the same. Sat out on the porch with a hot cuppa. We got a quote for cladding the house yesterday. House has plain walls. It will make it look so much better and we get in before the rather large price increase. Product comes from Canada. When I build the shed it will be the same colours. I will take before and after pics but it will be a couple of months before they can start. Person who quoted offered some great suggestions. We had another quote too but decided against that product. Trip to the city today to appease SWMBO. Stay safe all.

I've never been that particular about grease, but I usually buy the red stuff, which is lithium based in the CRC brand called Sta-Lube. But I will sometimes buy the cheap walmart brand too....unless I find out it's made outside of our country.

I also have been guilty of not applying it as often as I should.

Same.

Steiner Beast sitrep: Was mowing last week, and needed to move something in the grass. I turned off the electric PTO switch, moved the item, and when I turned it back on.......nothing. Been busy working on autos, so I finally got to it this morning. After some troubleshooting, I traced it to the actual PTO dash push/pull switch, which is a heavy duty "Made in America" switch. I guess I can't complain too much, it is about 20 years old, and had been down near the ocean. Anyway, my local auto parts had one in stock, hooray for them. It cost $33 plus tax, so it was a bit pricey. But they had it, and I want them to stay in business. Messick's had it for $20, but I would have had to pay shipping probably around $8-10, so I'll call it a wash. It fixed it, and I mowed, for only about an hour because I had to go drop off kids to different places. I got maybe 1.5 acres worth mowed, in-between the post oak tree forest just south of my home. Need to mow about another 2 acres worth.

I was telling the guys at the auto parts about the Steiner Beast story, and how little money I have in it....they laughed when I told them the switch just might be one of the most expensive items I've had to buy for it. LOL.

You made a very nice score on that Steiner ... ;)

Rs, your yard looks great, and BEF's too. There was a beautiful patch of lilies across the street from our church, but the heat has taken them out now.

Thanks.

It's starting to get there, still a lot more work to do though.

Glad you are starting to get a handle on the vehicle issues.

We were very fortunate last year on the vehicle front. Woman's car needed a lot of work done to it - overdue repairs and maintenance) - which was going to involve it being out of service for some time.

We were able to pick up a clean '99 Mercury Mystique 4 cylinder automatic - essentially one owner (a little old lady ) - with less than original 60K miles, for a very reasonable price:

It's not in perfect shape (she creased the body panels on the other side, which led to her no longer driving I believe, vinyl on the dash is coming up in the front) but it appeared to be in fairly good shape mechanically.

We did have to put new tires on it and replace both front wheel bearings.

Woman has put around 20K miles on it since we got it.

Hot and humid today. Last week was just beautiful but the week before we were dodging rain showers most of the week. Grass seems to need to be mowed once a week which is hard to complain about. I love all the fruit we are getting this time of year. The local farm stand is about to start picking sweet corn. Talk about good.:)

I went to Walmart this morning. Our local store is not too busy before 9am. I would say a few less than 25 percent of the people there were wearing masks. When I pulled in the guy coming out had a mask on so I put mine on. No big deal I had it. Most other stores very few masks. It sounds like people who had the covid and have natural immunity have more to worry about with a variant breaking through. I don't know how the Indian delta variant is going to affect us but it is giving other countries trouble.

Don did you see the reports of the study that showed people on plant based diet had milder symptoms if they got covid?

Hope everyone is enjoying the summer.

Chris

Wife completed leg 1 of the Ohio-Erie trail. Went from Cincy to Columbus today.

Back home the weather has broke. Today is cloudy but pleasant. My biggest chore was cleaning up a downed branch from a huge dead tree that partially blocked the road. It fell during the storm Saturday night.

It took about 2 hours going at my pace which, I’ve been told, is slightly faster than a lame turtle! Oh well. Done is done.

Sorry, I got home and remembered yet again that I failed to take pictures!

Have a good evening all.

Amazon delivered a couple of fairly heavy 6 ton jack stands, Big Red brand, on sale and looked pretty sturdy.
took them out to garage, pretty muggy out, HI of 101

Mo, hope your wife has a safe and fun ride.

RS, your car reminds me of my MIL's Buick Regal, same age, super reliable V6 and about 60k miles. She'll be selling it soon when she goes
into the senior care center.
