Good morning, we have been enjoying dry weather all week, spent last couple of days rubbing down old paint on windows, going to try Osmo oil this time, only problem is deciding which shade to go for.

Don, you are too modest, those shapes are surely carefully crafted countries of the world - I see South America, India, Iceland (under heavy volcanic ash cloud) ...

We have just been worming the lambs. There are a couple of doses left if you feel something wriggling inside. :)
I like it striped like it is. 😁

We finally got a little rain! Our weeds weren't even growing. The past three days we've gotten a good bit of rain.

Good morning.
It’s 65 going to the high 70’s
Overcast with chance of thunderstorms and rain throughout the day. Tempest we got 1.52” Davis says 1.02, good old fashioned cylinder gauge agrees with the Davis.

Yesterday, got a speaker finished up and ready to ship, then puttered around in the shop, and took care of the details for today’s trip, such as catering and inbound and out bound customs, both here and in the Bahamas.

It’s going to be a busy day, hopefully all goes well, and I can get to everything that I have planned, and I get back in time to make it all happen.

Good morning!!!! Plentiful sunshine. Hot. High 98F. Winds W at 10 to 20 mph.

Those Fish breakfasts did come with sashimi, and were made by young lady at the local grocery store deli. She did appear to be of Asian descent, if that makes any difference.🤣

Yesterdays ride took me south along the shore of Lake Isabella then up across the lower ranges of the Sierra Mountains. Stopped in Inyokern for gas and temps were well into the 90s by noon. A few miles north I started toward Kennedy Meadows where the road meets up with the eastern end of the Sherman Pass Road. Clouds were gathering as I approached, as they often do in mountains in the afternoon. It was still warm enough that I was actually looking forward to a good drenching, but I had to settle for a few raindrops instead. Back at the motel, the room was insufferably hot again, even though the air conditioner had been running full blast since the day before. It just can’t keep up with the sun shining on that side of the building when the temperatures are this high. Something to keep in mind if I ever come this way again in the summer. Got the laundry done, topped up the oil on the bike, and enjoyed a delicious pizza dinner with a huge green salad. Salad seems to be hard to fine on this trip.

This miserable little bowl cost over five dollars the night before, and the balsamic vinegar dressing left a lot to be desired as well. Such is the price of regularity in the High Sierra.

This morning I head north again up the Kern River, up over a ridge, into a campground at Camp Nelson. I’m hoping to be there early enough to beat the heat, and also give the organizers a hand with setting up the site. Then it’s energy conservation mode for the rest of the day. Very likely there will be no Internet service there, so you all will be spared further updates until I arrive home sometime late Sunday.

TGIF, and I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Good Morning to all. It's a wonderful time of day. 58F and 57% humidity. AND it's not supposed to get so bloody hot today. My fans have cooled the house down - preparing for the afternoon heat blast.

Good morning! 66˚F more rain expected today, best June ever.

Eric, I would go for contrast for definition - Black

Got the Shower valve in so plumbing work today and I might have to harvest muddy potatoes. I'll check for rot today.

About half the people wore mask at the funeral, about 1/3 of the Bucky's customers wore mask but the best was in Giddings TX. In the grocery store the person wearing a mask was buying cigarettes. Still trying to figure that one out . . .

72-80 today with light showers this morning, we missed a big line of storms yesterday afternoon. Passed about 2 miles south and east of us. We got most of our rain overnight Wednesday into Thursday. If the rain stops I’m going to put the Rake on and move a bunch of brush we lopped off a bunch of low hanging trees. Other than that I’m just going to try to stay busy until five when the kitty takes her last ride. Then we have to go up to Delaware to get Ellen’s cat, Elvira and take her, not going to be a happy night.

I haven’t had a good feeling about sushi since I went to get bait for an offshore fishing trip, one end of the building in Wanchese was bait and tackle, the other was a sushi shop.

Morning all, got some more trimming done before the big storm came in and dumped 1.5" in about an hour.
Some flooding, but the town did send out a crew of 2 guys with shovels to clear debris from main road 😮

Kids school has made masks optional after a special board meeting last night, most parents are perpelexed as only a week or so left of school and none of the under 12 are vaccinated. Strange move.

TXDon- I love those hummingbird moths, looks like a flying micro lobster attached to a micro hummingbird. Only started seeing them here about 3 years ago.

Mostly- am worried there is a bigger nest somewhere, but hornet sightings are down to none so far. So hopefully it is far away!

Flail is scheduled to arrive Monday, so need to get the parts assembled for BackHoe dolly.

Kid has first live band concert since Covid on Sunday at a local pub!

Roy - leave arm wrestling to the kiddies-glad to hear improvements every day

Safe flight PopG

Randy - Last trip is going to be hard, but remember the good times with the cat...
hope the sushi/bait shop didn't get confused with orders. Worm and eel sushi anyone?

What would that be in Japanese?

Stay safe and be well.

61°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 88° today. Weather iWidget said we were getting some drizzle this morning, but with a cloudless sky I'm not sure whence it would be coming.

This weekend is looking good weather-wise, but looks like rain all next week.

Spent most of yesterday evening puttering around in the studio.

Nice pictures, fellas.

Condolences on the kitties, Randy. As a cat person, I feel for you. Long years of great memories, though, I'm sure.

Good morning to all! Low of only 52, 77 already at 8 am, should hit our first 90 later. No rain still, storms going all around, just not here!

My neighbor has been having some health issues and is now forced to sell his relatively new tractor and implements. A real shame. Life's travels can sure take its twists and turns. David, don't know what shipping would cost out to the Islands, but might be a good tractor for Sophie.... there are pics down in the "tractors for sale" forum.

Doing the spring cleaning routine for the last couple of days. Thorough cleaning of the outside of the house/windows. It was a rough windy spring, so a lot of silty dirt blown into the nooks and crannies, especially the windows. Should be able to get the last few windows cleaned up today.

no status change with the knee. Good days and bad.... eventually it will level out. A few more weeks until it gets re-evaluated by the surgeon.

RNG, spectacular pics of your road trip. I miss getting out on my bike back in the day! Savor the time and enjoy!

Drew, glad to hear that the jungle next door got taken care of. At least he was a proactive owner and stepped up to do the right thing. I hope your shoulder heals quickly. PT is not fun....

Toppop, not a good day.... remember the good times with the kitties.

Roy, just as hard bringing our friends back home as saying that last goodbye.

OK, now I can't type anymore....

Everyone try to have a great day...

70F and partly cloudy @ 10:45, headed up to a high of 82F.

A little preview of the heatwave that is heading in.

Only 0.01" of rain since midnight, total for yesterday was 0.62" ... was mostly a good, slow soaker. Next calling for the possibility of rain this coming Monday.

Ten mealworms each put out in the front and back feeders yesterday. Hopper feeder probably due for a refill today.

Lower front is getting to the point where it needs mowed again ... but I'll probably give the new spreader a workout first, since it's easier to see the tracks in the longer grass.

Probably try and get the spilled fertilizer from the broken bag on the pallet cleaned up today as well, since it will be dry.

Maybe take weed eater for walk along edge of driveway on east side of house now that the spraying seems to have taken hold.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ... (y)

67°F and no rain

Off to Hilo town this morning. Sophie has to get a COVID test as part of her prop for her cataract surgery. Later today we have to complete the Health questionnaire portion of the Hawaii Safe Travel form. already done the profile and vaccination sections. Once approved we will be allowed to return to Big Island without having to quarantine. The island itself has been doing well lately if you don’t count the 77 active cases as the county jail. Apparently a reluctance for vaccination there among both inmates and staff.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Got a nice pic of 2 of the boys

We got 1/4” of rain this morning and now it looks like the sun will come out.
I put the rake on and moved the brush between periods of rain. Haven’t done much else. I’ve got to dig the hole for Charlie yet.

good morning all
68 out now going up to 80 today in more showers this afternoon.
.83 inches of rain yesterday and last night but no high winds so just a good soaker.
Tomorrow it's like summer begins in earnest, stretch of 90 degree days and drying out.

Got absolutely nowhere yesterday trying to buy a mower. No Kubotas, John Deere or Simplicity's in stock.
Remarkable actually, dealers not happy at all not having any inventory.
Thankfully my old friend with the coffee business isn't using his JD 345 much at home after his son bought a zero turn.
So...he will loan me this nice older mower until mine comes in, spec'd identically to what I'm trying to buy, with power steering and a Kawasaki
engine, though his is liquid cooled. I wonder if anyone has done a study to see if the more premium liquid cooled engines last longer
than air cooled. Liquid cooled and fuel injected would be the best, but not sure anyone makes that, likely too expensive for a mower gas engine.

am off to PT early this morning, then supermarket and likely a quiet afternoon while the rain comes down.

had a pleasant chat with owner of rental house next to me, currently occupied by a nice lady who hasn't mowed her lawn all year. Sigh.
Well apparently at least three neighbors called this guy, who confirmed it was, like for me, the tenant's job to mow the lawn and no he didn't want
a field of weeds either. So he came yesterday himself with his Gravely z turn and mowed the lawn, having to rake up clippings for quite a while.
I bet he doesn't let it get like that any more. This is simply not an area where the natural look is acceptable, much less two foot high weeds. Nothing but
a haven for snakes and ticks. When he was done the emails flew between neighbors saying Yeah!

Rental place up the road has yard always like that, except sometimes they dump their trash in the yard. One year it became a motocross track. Renters always changing at the place, they seem to get worse and worse.

Toppop, sorry about the kitties.

Our little cat with thyroid issue keeps loosing weight, keeps throwing up. We give it meds twice a day.

74F and "Fair" @ 21:30, headed down to 64F for an overnight low.

Went to spread soil amendments earlier, was cloudy and started spitting rain.

So I got out the FS 66 instead and fueled it up and started cutting on the east side of the house.

By the time I was finished with that the sun was back out.

Filled up hopper feeder which was empty.

Spread 12 bags of lime (480 lbs), 4 to finish up the lower front and 8 down here around the house.

Also put down 2 bags of gypsum down around the house (east side), still have one more to put on tomorrow.

At that point I'll need to juggle things around in the barn and dig out the 5 bags of lime over there.

Very happy with how the new spreader works ... (y)

Stopped at 50 hours on the clock on the Cub and changed the oil and filter. (Still need to do the pre cleaner and air filter)

After I got that done I started mowing the lower front, knocked off around 20:45, still have probably 1/3 left.

All in all a decent day.

Was the pineapple in the middle cake made with pineapple juice instead of water?

.

Recipe called to add water to the liquid from the can.
Being as I used a fresh pineapple I had neither a can nor the liquid.

What I did have was the center core piecesI had cut out. Threw them in the Vitamix, added enough water to 1 cup line and left the vitamix have its way up to full speed. Dumped the frothy results into the batter in place of water.
