Good Morning!!!! 72F @ 8:45AM. Sunny. High 92F. Winds light and variable.
We'll see 100F starting Sunday, with highs in the high 90s to over 100 for the rest of the 10-day. Gonna head to the mountains and stay there, I think.
Looks like you've out Roned Ron, Don. Beautiful lilies.
Congrats to your son, Kyle. You and the wife are doing a wonderful job raising your kids.
Short motorcycle ride went well yesterday morning, didn't want to come back. All the lights worked when I got back, except the headlight. The lens was warm, and I know it was working when I left. After the tractor surgery, I replaced the bulb with an LED I had laying around, lots of new scratches on my hands from the cramped quarters behind the bulb housing. Not a job I like doing, so I hope I found the problem.
Guy at the hydraulic shop found a kink/cut in one of the hoses I brought in, likely caused by a stick like the one that snatched off the battery lead. I got him to make up heavier replacements for both the hoses I brought in. Both had fire hose like sleeves on them, and so much oil was coming out of the cut it flooded the inside of the cover and made it look like the end of the hose was leaking. All fixed now, brought the tractor back down to the garage and used most of a can of Gunk on it. Need to hose that off this morning, then put the protective covers back on. Before I do any more land clearing, I want to make up some stout sheet steel covers for underneath to keep any more damage to a minimum. Used a new Makita socket wrench yesterday to put the tractor fender back on. Must have been two dozen nuts and bolts holding that thing on.
Ran a couple batches of beef jerky through the dehydrator yesterday afternoon, too. For some reason the flavors of my usual marinades (chipotle Cholula and Mr. Yoshida's Original Gourmet Sweet and Savory Marinade and Cooking Sauce) didn't come through very strong, even though the beef marinaded for three days. Maybe the fridge was too cold? Shot the grids with PAM before loading them, though, and this time the jerky came off easily. The Yoshida's acts like glue due to the sugar.
Social Security says I've been approved for Medicare now, but the fella I spoke with at Medicare could find no record of that. Left hand doesn't know what the right is doing.
Picked up a nice looking pair of New York Strip steaks for dinner, and a pair of burritos for breakfast tomorrow morning. That should get the trip started on the right foot.
Was up opening the windows to let some air in around 4 AM and saw the moon eclipse, but thought it was just behind clouds. It wasn't a full eclipse here, at least not when I was looking.
Happy Hump Day, folks!
