64 right now...high in the mid-80's...possible thunderstorms this afternoon...

Got home yesterday...wifey and stepdaughter had done the weekly shopping (groceries). We ate a pretty hardy supper. Went out to see if I could break those nuts loose on the flail mower...still frozen. So, applied more PB Blaster and will try again this afternoon. These are pretty small nuts (12mm across the flats) and the studs are welded to the mower end plate. If PB Blaster doesn't do the job...not sure how I'm going to remove the nuts without damaging the stud threads...

Do you have a battery powered impact driver Roy? Perhaps the impact .. will break the nuts loose?

I have a Ridgid 18 V impact driver that works well on small nuts / bolts. Yours are likely 8 mm nuts.

Morning all, Grey and humid , up to 91 today, calling for less than .2" could use more, 1" Friday.
I hope it does not rain Sunday or trip to Long Island is going to be tiring. Visiting friend I have known since Kindergarten and some other High school friends.

Spend a few hours clearing out brush around another dead ash, those vines, hineysuckles and thorny brambles take a lot of work even with brush cutter and pole saw. But opened up some goo escape paths. Lot of large fallen branches from the tree, do its a bit shorted now.

scaredychicken - happy almost birthday!
RS - BP sounds good! Glad Dr. visit went well-guess you will be adding planting to your list of tasks
Kyle - congrats on Son's award!
Ron - sorry to hear about your Aunt, don't make her laugh (too) much. Hope she heals quick
Drew-took me many months for shoulder pain to go away, titanium rod and crews etc. Hope pain starts to reduce soon.

Stay safe and be well,

Time to prep Chainsaw and pole saw for more tree removal, after work of course.

66°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 86° today. Some rain passed through before I got up at 5am, but it doesn't look like we got much.

The foster dog, Cecilia (Wife calls her Cici), made it through her surgeries OK yesterday. They removed a cyst from the inside of her mouth, removed a fatty growth on her neck, and spayed her. She was groaning a lot last night, so the pain meds may not be working to optimum effect. The Wife said they found something on one of her ovaries, and sent it off to have it analyzed. Hoping it's not cancerous. Wife took her downstairs and set up a big area of dog beds and blankets for her, and slept on the couch by her last night.

Congrats on your son's awards, Kyle.

I saw that GM remark, too, BEF. I chuckled lightly, rolled my eyes, and scrolled on.

The one that responded with the chicken was funny.

Good morning! 77˚F, cloudy. Park Cedarcide is rain delayed for a week.
Late sleep-in after thunderstorm riled up Whipper at 3:A. M. with .35" of rain.
Kyle, congratulations to your son on a successful year in school. Now the pressure is on him for a repeat next year.
Roy, I too would try an impact driver like Rick suggested.
My Easter Lillies are in full bloom after the GREAT TEXAS FREEZE. I guess they are Memorial Day Lillies now.
Could not add pic. pic in next post.

Yep...didn't even budge 'em...

I have the same impact wrench as you, BTW...

The nuts are very close to the housing, so it's not particularly easy to get a socket on...but while typing this, it occurred to me I should use a deep socket. Using a deep socket should put more socket bearing on the nut...if those T-storms in this afternoon's forecast stay away, I'll try again

78F and partly cloudy @ 11:30, feels like 80F. Scattered thunderstorms this morning becoming more widespread later this afternoon with the possibility of some being severe. 80F predicted for the high. Chance of rain 80%.

Dug out The Woman's bin of potting soil in the garage, she is working readying up her pots for new flowers. Just started sprinkling though ...

Need to call Chapin and see if they have managed to ship any non-defective parts yet for the spreader.

Looks to be largely an inside day today, some plumbing work in the basement possibly on the menu.

One of the larger rhododendron transplants I did last year:

All the weeds might be acting as camouflage ... to hide the hostas from the deer ...

This one is not a transplant but it seems to be doing well, but needs pruned ... and the area where it's planted needs cleaned up and mulched though:

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day.
