Thinking I'll pick up one of those blade sharpeners from Harbor Freight and give it a try.
Is this the one you're thinking about, Paul?

I have one kicking around the garage somewhere, and it sorta worked. The positioning adjustments for the chain weren't very solid, and I had a hard time getting the saw to cut straight. But I was also taking too much off, which ruined the temper of the steel and gave me different tooth lengths on the two sides of the chain. I bought the Oregon sharpener the HF one is patterned after, and now think the HF one would have worked if I'd have adjusted it so that the wheel came down without touching the chain, and then put side pressure on it to just kiss each tooth very briefly, just enough to get it sharp. It might even work better on the HF unit, being plastic and pretty wobbly.

Anyway, if I've still got that HF unit, it's yours for the postage if you wanna try it. I'll look around today and see if I can find it.

I use these diamond coated burrs, chucked into a Dremel to to sharpen chains. They're available in 5/32, 3/16, and 7/32 to match your chains.

67°F and .65 inches rain.

Need to make a PO run this morning.

Should get my light boxes in place. Will try to get the circuit breaker panel installed but as I don’t have the meter enclosure that might be a challenge. Once in place I can start the home runs.

Zoom Happy Hour this afternoon.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

I'm sure you all know that txdon and I, and some other TBN members, have the EGO battery powered lawnmowers. Of course I also have the EGO string trimmer and the leaf blower. I bought mine from a lawn equipment place, but the Home Depot had also been selling them. Recently I had read that the Home Depot dropped EGO and Lowe's took it over. So this morning, I just went into the Denton, TX Lowe's just to see. WOW! I'd never seen so much EGO equipment in one place. Both push and self propelled lawnmowers. boxes and boxes piled up, string trimmers, leaf blowers, and even a back pack blower. But the most interesting thing was that this was the first time I've ever seen one the new EGO riding mowers. I see that the Denton Lowe's store website says THIS ITEM IS OUT OF STOCK but they sure had one sitting on the showroom floor.

Yup, that's the one.

I watched a couple YouTube video reviews of them, and they all said pretty much the same thing ... adjust is so it just barely touches the tooth.

If you find it and want to part with it, let me know. That's a very generous offer, so long as shipping from Cali to Illi isn't ridiculous. If not, there is a HF in Fairview Heights IL that I pass every day on the way home from work.

Pretty Monday in St. Louis area. Sunny and 70’s.

Supposed to rain tomorrow.

We had 1 1/2 hours of tennis this morning, so exercise done for the day.

I put in my Medicare application (on line) on Saturday. Got a notice today it’s being processed at KC office. Once I get the Red, White and Blue Card I can go shopping!

Think it’ll be an easy day today. Read a little, hang out with the cat and rest. My wife has to work a little today. I’m going to try to get the cat to like me more while she is gone - maybe an impossible job!

Have a great one everybody.

I was looking into one of those but I need a bigger yard, not much bigger. It holds 6 EGO batteries but only comes with 4. The replacement batteries - 56V 10ah - are $450 each. The zero emissions zero turn, also dubbed double zero, probably will be mandatory in California soon.

59F with a light steady rain @ 13:15, supposedly heading to a high of 69F later (this evening apparently)

Timberlink Station (just down the road a piece) shows they have received .55" so far ... which sounds about right.

Just fixed second cup.

Did a check of the bluebird nest boxes yesterday:

No. 1 has a nesting pair of bluebirds in it (didn't have to open the box, could see one flying out every time I got anywhere close it with the mower)

No. 2 had a house wren or house sparrow in it I think but no nest yet (bird flew out so fast right into my face that I couldn't make a positive ID)

No. 3 looks to have house sparrows in it

No. 4 appears to have a pair of bluebirds in it (again flew out so fast right into my face so I couldn't verify what it was) Definitely need to verify that one, because the nest looks more like a house sparrow nest.

No. 5 was not checked, but may have a pair of bluebirds in it (a pair has been hanging around the nest box, but I need to check the box itself)

Will probably go ahead and put out some live mealworms in the two feeders sometime later once the rain lets up, since weather like this (extended periods of cool, wet weather) are when they have a hard time finding food.

Got notice from Amazon that the Chapin spreader has shipped out of Schertz, TX, they are saying it will arrive on Thursday.

They delivered the rest of the stuff needed for the light install earlier today. I now have what will probably be a Lifetime Supply of butt connectors. Will spend some time down at the electrical bench today getting the Weatherpack connectors soldered on and heatshrinked and loom put on. Maybe see about getting them mounted and wired up as well.

Everything here is really greening up and leafing out, dogwoods in full bloom, along with the magnolia - looks very lush.

Ten Day shows enough rain in it, that I might be tempted - like Paul - to over-seed the lawn - after I core it again.

One of the items in the order that's waiting to be picked up at Menards is a 25' roll of 2' wide, 1/8" hardware cloth. Thinking I'll go ahead and make up another screen for the soil screener and use it to screen compost so I can top dress the lawn. That assumes that I can get the screenings dry enough that the spreader will spread them and they won't pack up in the hopper.

Arm still sore from vaccination, but otherwise no other symptoms.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ... (y)

We started doing the free 14 day Forks over Knives meal planner. It includes grocery list and meal recipes for a week at a time. So far it has been very good. Lunch was peanut noodles with vegetables. We might continue with the paid program later as it really increases variety and ideas for plant based meals. It cuts the figuring of complete nutrition for each day and the grocery list is a big plus.

I have a very old Oregon sharpener that HF one was copied from. Took some adjustments to get it to sharpen properly. I now sharpen all my neighbors chains with good results. I set mine up on a new chain. Hardest setting was getting teeth on each side the same. Had to grind the stop on a angle for that to happen.

I end up having to reset the stop when I go from one side to the other. I'd be interested in making that mod on mine, Ron, if you could share a photo or two...

I usually go to Moe’s, but not much different.

I like moe’s also, but haven’t been back since poor service. There’s a local Mexican grill where I used to work that is really good. I used to eat there about every day. Gonna have to go out one of these days and go there.

My dad could hand sharpen a chain fast. He loved cutting firewood.

Wife picked up a rescue yesterday, a 10-year-old blind and deaf Australian Shepherd. The story is that she was dropped at a shelter somewhere in Arkansas by an older guy who said he found her on the side of the road. She was set to be euthanized (had already been drugged when the rescue showed up, and they had to carry her to the car). A local group had posted a story about her, and someone recognized the dog as belonging to the granddaughter of the guy who brought it into the shelter. She is skinny as a rail, you can see her ribs, and her claws haven't been clipped in so long that they are turning sideways and she can barely walk on them. Wife took her to a groomer today to take care of the claws and get a good bath. She's supposed to go to a vet on Wednesday to check her general health. We'll just have her for a few days, as she already has a long-term foster lined up waiting for her. She's a sweet old girl, and has been absolutely loving the attention and affection. Disturbing that someone would do this to a 10-year-old dog.

I want to be a people person, but people keep ruining that for me.

Interesting... Our 37 year old son was just diagnosed with an auto immune disease; the prognosis isn't very good. Doc said he has end stage heart failure due to it attacking his heart muscles. The MD's have put him on meds that are used for chemo to shut down his immune system. Could you please share a link to your info? Thank you.
Here is some more encouraging info on treating auto immune diseases by eliminating meat and dairy. Unless he is on Hospice, and has not given up, if he was my son I would be cooking for him.

I posted this earlier, it's a good way to start.
