Pouring rain again, all outside work is on hold and zero gravel delivered so far. :(
Socks= mitten like cloth (normally wool in winter) things with a hole for your foot and ankle to fit into. If they fit good then they don't end up all bunched up under your instep:confused:, which is what happens to me so I quit wearing them.
I have rabbit fur lined mucklucs I wear in winter and they keep my feet warm enough without sweating.

So yesterday I used 30kwh and my pv produced 42kwh, good use of my capacity.
That's a lot of juice! Best I've seen this year so far was 37 kWh. No way I could support an electric heater on a hot tub. But I've got a 13' x 26' porch cover that I could top with a thermal solar water heater. Still got to wonder, though, if it would work in the winter. Then again, I've seen wood heater versions, too...

If you could come up with a 240V high current relay driven by a 120VAC trigger voltage, you could drive it with an Alexa or HomeKit household switch. From anywhere in the world. And use any commonly available weather proof boxes.

afternoon all!
My brother in law had shoulder surgery and also had knee issues. He was able to find a plastic device made just to help put socks on. You load the sock on the device set it on the floor and step into the sock. He showed us how it worked and it was amazing. Maybe check on Amazon Drew.

Got home from optometrist about an hour ago with great ambitions about mowing the lawn. He dilated both eyes, so work outside wasn't going to happen, even with sun glasses. I'm having a hard enough time typing this post.
No real problems and, apparently no problems with cataracts.
Tough seeing the TBN screen with it's bright white background though.

Rained this morning, more predicted for tonight and, hopefully tomorrow

Hashimoto's thyroiditis. If you know of anyone with this auto immune disease the doctors will tell them there is no cure and they will be on medication the rest of their lives. My wife got it 25 years ago. She went on a vegetarian diet and it went away and is on no medication. It has stayed away for 23 years as she continues her plant based diet. She did not go on the diet because of the disease it was an accidental discovery. Now it is a little known but recognized way to treat Hashimoto's disease but still few doctors know about it. They are also finding out that a plant based diet can also arrest other auto immune diseases such as M.S. (Dr. Saray Stancic who has/had MS) I'm posting this today because of a plant based online medical conference was discussing autoimmune diseases. Dr. Brooke Goldner was the Dr. discussing the little known Hashimoto's cure.

Another wedding anniversary today; 56 years this same old woman has put up with me. For many, many years we always went out to eat on our anniversary, but this year . . . well, we're having some rainy weather, so we decided to just stay in today. We have more groceries here in the house than we know what to do with. IF IT'S NOT RAINING IN THE MORNING, we're supposed to have an insurance adjustor/inspector here to inspect the roof, and the roofing contractor plans to be here also, so we'll see if we're going to get a new roof put on his house. I don't known whether we'll learn anything tomorrow or not, since he's supposed to send his report to a lady case manager and she's supposed to tell us the results and decisions Monday or Tuesday.

That’s good news,Roy.
I can relate on the dilating, I’m toast for rest of the day. I mentioned to the tech one time and she told me 8 hours of sensitivity was to be expected for many people.

Congrats on 56 years and continuing Mr & Mrs Bird.

Curious as to insurance on roof. Suspect something other than normal aging?

found out "the why"

surgeon just called, checking up on me, nice that he did.
And he explained why this happened. I had a sharp bone spur from osteoarthritis which
the tendon was running over. Eventually the sharp edge abraded the tendon and it broke in half.
Hopefully not to happen again...although likely the other shoulder will do the same thing in a year or two

Roy, definitely good news on the eyes! Good excuse to just relax!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, to Mr and Mrs Bird.

Drew, you'll get the hang of it.... maybe some sandals in the meantime? David has proven that we don't need enclosed shoes.....

Interesting... Our 37 year old son was just diagnosed with an auto immune disease; the prognosis isn't very good. Doc said he has end stage heart failure due to it attacking his heart muscles. The MD's have put him on meds that are used for chemo to shut down his immune system. Could you please share a link to your info? Thank you.

Mid 80s this afternoon with a nice breeze. I got out the bush hog and mowed around the fields. The barley is looking good. I bush hogged around the woods till I was behind the poison ivy tree that was leaning over the lane. Hooked a chain around the base and pulled it back into the woods. I hope I didn't get any on me. What do you do to clean the chain?

Well, I posted this morning that I didn't know what today's agenda was....
I found out that information the hard way....

We were going to plant a couple of plants and needed to mix up some potting mix. The wifey asked if I could get here a pair of latex work gloves from the shop....

I had quickly stood up and headed outside to the shop. Going down the steps, got a little lightheaded. Being the stubborn soul that I am, I was determined to get those gloves. As soon as I got inside the shop, I knew I was going to pass out....

I quickly sat on the front tire of the tractor..... not going to help.....went out cold..... I think I fell into / hit the quick attach plate on the loader.

I woke up eyeballing the concrete, my glasses smashed, but I could see the few drops of blood up close and personal. I don't remember how I got up off the floor, but made it over to the bench and grabbed some paper towels. I pulled out a chair and sat in the doorway, trying to call the wifey inside the house....

Thankfully, my son just came out of his house to take out the trash. He heard me calling and knew something was wrong, he came running over to the shop door. At the same time, the wifey saw him running towards the shop and bolted out the door towards us.

I am ok, except for a few areas... the face took the brunt. A circular laceration all the way around my eye... would have been much worse if I wasn't wearing glasses... probably would have damaged my eyeball. Abrasions on the forehead and cheek.... gonna have a BIG shinner....

I either jammed or slammed my left hand into something, first 2 fingers really stiff, big bruise behind the knuckles top and palm. Another big bruise and abrasion on my right elbow... it moves fine, very little pain there, just a big hematoma.

The right shoulder is stiff and sore, but no noticeable injury or bruising.

GOOD NEWS is no new damage or pain to the knee, Titanium tough!

I think the new BP meds dropped me too low. Even after walking back to the house and getting cleaned up, the BP was only 110/70, P-68. Going to continue monitoring BP this evening. Feeling OK for the last few hours.

Needless to say, wifey won't let me out of her sight.... plants will have to wait...

So, unknowingly to me.... my agenda was determined for me!

When my other son gets home from work, I'm going to tell him... "mom got mad at me and hit me with the cast iron pan"..... I will let him think about that for just a minute.....
