Good morning all. Chilling winds are dragging clouds down from the north, forecast predicts something will be dropped on us within the hour, not sure if that will be rain or snow.

I finally got around to replacing a rotten strainer post in the corner of a far field that went over in autumn. This is first time the ground has been firm enough to be able to take tools over on the tractor without making ruts.

Twenty yards away from where I was digging is a bridge that once allowed cattle and carts to cross over the railway to the fields on the other side. I may have said before that my first ever view of this place was also from that bridge, I walked over it with the auctioneer's brochure in hand, never expecting to be able to actually buy this piece of land when the farm was broken up for sale. This is a pic taken from the bridge taken on that spring day 18 years ago.

Neither I nor my family have any religious beliefs, so it shouldn't much matter what they decide to do to get rid of me once I am dead. Even so I do have a preference, I would like to be dropped into a hole where the tractor is in the first pic. That will be far enough away from the hedge to dig without having to do battle with tree roots like I did when replacing that strainer, yet still close enough so that the furthest reaches of the oak trees roots can make some use of whatever nutrients they can get from me.

These trees have given me lots of firewood, only fair I give them something in return :)

Good Morning
It’s 46 destined for 64 today with clear skies and mild winds.

Yesterday was a good day, breakfast with the family was nice. Grandson has discovered the Roomba, and makes a beeline for it. He turns it on, and then crawls around with one hand on it, following it as if it was his guide dog.
After breakfast surveyed some drainage ditches and pond banks with oldest son. We are considering reading the outlet from the pond a foot, and wanted to see where the new waterline would be.

I have a 5x12 enclosed trailer that I normally keep on a stoned pad behind the generator shed, but there is no paved access. The ground was finally barely dry enough to put the trailer away. So I carefully pulled it around the shop and backed it into place with the tractor with a 3pt mounted ball hitch. I lowered the 3pt to disconnect and pull way. I raised the hitch so it wouldn’t hit the ground returning to the shop. When I pulled the tractor into the shop, I looked back to see if I was in far enough, and there was the @#%$ trailer! I must have raised the hitch too soon and reconnected. So I got to traverse the almost too wet ground again.

I’m off to FL this am, hope to be back in time to be productive around here.

Congratulations to everyone celebrating many more than the new normal number of anniversaries. Our 47th will be in August. My daughter once asked my wife what the secret was. Her reply was “one simple rule”. When pressed for details, she explained that only one of us could be an A-Hole at any given time. If it wasn’t your turn, you would have to wait.

Best advice I was ever given on marriage give 110 percent towards each other in everything you do with each other. You will be lucky to get to 50 percent. It works

Best one liner; Are you married? My wife is

Work one liner; Boss are you done yet? Employee all I lack is finishing up
