RNG, nice area to ride. How much further can you go once the snow is cleared? Appears that it could have been a chilly ride.
Yesterday my thought was to ride CA70 to Quincy, then take the Bucks Lake road, which changes name to the Quincy-Oro Highway, back to Oroville. There are several ways back from Quincy, but all of them are snowed in at this time of the year except for the CA70 leg. Once in Oroville, it's a quick jaunt on CA70 back to here. That's about a 150 mile loop, that google thinks'll take three and a half hours. It's probably a bit quicker on a bike. I'd have been tempted to drop in to Jen's Cafe in Oroville for a bite to eat, but that'll have to wait until things thaw out a bit more in the mountains.

Good morning 67˚F just getting 10˚ warmer today with cloudy skies.
Just got back from my first after covid Strength Class with Sharon and 16 other very fit women. I'll probably feel it tomorrow.
My chainsaw muffler part should be here this afternoon, just in time for this weeks brush/tree removal activities.

Eric did you look into the restrictions on a family plot.

52°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 81° today.

We had another one of those "chamber of commerce" type weekends here; sunny and 70-ish all weekend. I took a vacation day Friday to have a class I trailer hitch installed on my car for the pending kayak trailer. I arrived at the trailer dealer at 09:00 and sat in their lobby for about an hour before someone came out to tell me that the hitch they'd ordered wouldn't fit my car. 🤬 They took me back into their shop and showed me the pollution filter that is mounted to the frame to the left of the gas tank ... right where the hitch needs to connect to the frame. They suggested I contact the Kia dealership to see it they have one that will fit this model. Figures. Nothing normal seems to fit this particular trim package of the Kia Rio 5-door. Getting aggravating. I called the dealer when I got back home, and was told their service advisors were all busy, but I would get a call back "shortly." It never came. Guess I need to call them again today.

Wife and I did get out to repair the pergola shade that was damaged during one of the recent high winds.

Felt like a wasted vacation day.

Saturday was too windy to do much outside, and became an energy conservation day. We both kind of needed one of those anyway.

Got up Sunday morning and jumped right into it. After feeding the chickens, I started hauling cardboard to the burn pile. The slight breeze made for perfect burn conditions, adding just enough oxygen to nicely feed the fire. Before I could haul anything, though, I needed to air up one of the cart tires. Hooked it to the rider and pulled it from the barn up to the garage. It wasn't taking air, and I saw that the bead was broken on one side. I took it off and tried a few things on the bench before remembering reading here some time ago that someone recommended using a ratchet strap to re-seat the bead. It worked! Thanks to whoever that was. Got the rest of the mowing done after that, then helped The Wife finish cleaning all the windows, as I have the "monkey arms" to get to the high stuff she can't easily reach. Fixed a couple of random broken things as well, and re-aligned the striker plate for the storm door on the front door, which has been giving us fits for far too long. Now, it opend, closes, and locks with just two fingers ... instead of the previous lifting, grunting, growling, and cursing.

I drove into Highland to the police department to buy a couple of 1-year boat permits for Silver Lake. The police department is the alternate location for those when city hall is closed on weekends and holidays. Then, she wanted to try a dry run on loading the kayaks on the new top racks for her car. It took a couple of tries before we figured out the best approach, but finally figured it out. I asked her if she wanted to take them somewhere, but it was starting to get too late. So, we carried mine out to the pond, slid it in, and took a couple of laps around it. We finally got one of them wet. This was my first time in (on) a kayak, and I have to say the balance is definitely different than a canoe. Going to be a fun summer.

Drew, I download the pics I use here and elsewhere online onto a computer, then open them with either Windows Image Editor (work computer) or Windows Paint (home computer) and reduce the size with them. I see there have been a bunch of other options offered here as well.

Rich, one of the benefits of being a Quality Manager is that no one expects me to offer anything that is sugar coated. When they want the unvarnished truth, they come to me. When they don't, they avoid me. I've always liked what I do, but that may be one of the biggest benefits of this job.

Nice-looking new truck, Lou. Congrats.

Happy Anniversary, Mr & Mrs BEF. Quite the accomplishment.

Those are some seriously nice views, Eric. You picked a fantastic place.
Your pond should be on postcard. 👌

Did my fuel run, got the deck on except for the driveshaft, didn’t feel like getting under there this afternoon, I’ll get in the morning. Ellen had a nice tiller with low hours, wouldn’t start and I didn’t feel like dealing with it so I hooked up the trailer and took it to friend’s small engine repair and left it. He called in about an hour and said it was running great and someone wanted to buy it. She agreed to the price and went and picked up her money. No dealing with Marketplace or Craigslist.

I have a sore finger that’s vastly improved but I’m still soaking it 3-4 times a day. After I came in and washed my hands I decided to soak it before getting in the shower. I dozed off and dumped the Epsom salt water right in my lap. That woke me up!

How do you know it is the space station and not a satellite?

First, they tell you exactly when and where to view the ISS. Second, it was too light to even see a satellite yet, but I enjoy watching them also.

Well, an extra long PT session today.... they must want me to catch up...seemed to do OK during the session, but.....

The knee is definitely aggravated and swollen again. Almost Deja-Vu of the last 2 surgeries.... do a few weeks of PT, seem to be improving good, then things go down hill...

I see the ortho surgeon on Thursday... hopefully he will have some insight...

52F and partly cloudy @ 21:15, headed down to an overnight low of 48F.

Worked on those downed aspens today:

Made some decent progress on four of them but there's still some further down the trail that need gotten:

IMG_0963 copy.jpg

Got the logs stacked off the grass on some high ground, will have to wait until it dries up some to take them down the trail to their permanent home:

IMG_0965 copy.jpg

Got some more compost/soil screening done as well:

Knocked off around 18:00 and came down to the house and finished off my Big Mac value meal and then made the run down to Menards and picked that last order up.

After I got back I threw the trash in the back of the car to take it up to the can at the road on the way back in and headed down to the pet store to pick up more treats for The Squeak, who is being very, very picky.

Noticed the pavement was wet on the way back in, so that nixed lighting up the burn pile tonight ... but tomorrow should be good. Likely do the first mowing as well.

Hope everyone had a great day ... (y)

Sorry about the knee, I certainly wouldn’t do any more PT until I saw the doctor.

Good evening all. 53F for the start, mostly clear, light breeze. Windy day, mostly clear sky and high temp was 75F. Started with mowing front lawn, then bike ride, then nap. Headed into town to ship stuff and dinner, then pick up groceries. Need to get pre-emergent down.

If you're interested in watching "stuff" going across the sky there is a phone app called 'Find Starlink' which will show when a string of starlink satellites will be overhead at your place. It may not be the space station but it is interesting.

Good morning all. We are dogging the snow nicely, only light flurries, soon dealt with by the sun.

Wng, hard to believe as avid a tree fella as you has not before enjoyed the neck creaking thrill of bringing down high up branches, to say nothing of the elation of finally freeing a saw stuck up high. Have fun !

Ken, talking of trees, I thought of you and your ash carving when I read an article on a very talented local chainsaw sculptor called Simon O'Rouke . His most famous piece stands 50 feet up in the air, carved from a storm damaged Douglas Fir that was previously the highest tree in Wales. So, when you do get your strength back and are looking for ideas for what to carve next ... :)

LS, you are right in your assumption that sheep keep down most of the grass that is not cut for hay. I just get to mow the weeds. Fields are 63 acres.

PJ, a hitch with a hitch and dry running kayaks ?#* What a weekend, pleased to see you eventually got to have a paddle without going up a creek.

Good morning all.
Roy, you are up too early

another nice weather day here, sunny and near 70. Doesn't get much nicer than that.

Ted, hope your knee feels better today

Number of you folks talk about Menards, which aren't around here at all.
But yesterday's Amazon shipment of my taller electric fence posts came in a box from Menards.
I promptly installed several of them, giving better protection to my dying frozen plants...sigh.

Until I get a greenhouse again, no more raising plants indoors for me. All I do is grow houseplants that
mostly die when I put them outside, burning up like vampires in the sun. I did this once before in NC, and that's when
I got a greenhouse. Twice burned, three times learned...
