Good morning!!!!

Good morning. It was 71° an hour ago .. now 59° with a 15 mph north wind. We’ve had a mist of rain off and on all morning. Likely most of the needed rain will pass north of here.

Spent the last ten days busy with tree trimming and cedar / yaupon removal and have several large brush piles to eventually burn.

rains have started. And so did some loud voices outside the house.
Ahhh, Verizon Fios has finally come to Solebury, and the road crew decided to pack it up when the rains started.

planted the squash yesterday and some early peas.

Rick,
looking good. Is the area outside the fence yours also?
if so, boy do you have job security, and you already had that...
I would call that a glade now, sure looks nice.

growing up my Dad used to call this beating back Mother Nature. If we didn't, the woods would creep in and slowly take over the house.

46F and cloudy @ 12:45, headed up to a high of 52F for the day. WU is currently calling for a low of 28F tonight, and high of only 32F tomorrow. Got some rain overnight.

Filled hopper and two sunflower tube feeders yesterday.

Noticed the hydrangeas are starting to bud out and those black tulips The Woman planted are starting to come up ... as are the hostas.

Got several more bucketloads of crusher run placed on driveway in low spots yesterday and knocked down with the box blade. Didn't really try to level it as the driveway was pretty dry. Might hit it later, depending on how wet it looks.

Spent the most time on screening compost though, got a pretty good pile of screened material going ... should be ready when weather gets good enough to really begin with the planting/landscaping.

The Woman came down last night to see the new fish fry ... probably over 100 of them in two tanks.

Have appointment @ 15:00 for first Moderna shot.

Just about enough time to get cleaned up and get the fish fed before I head out.

Hope everyone has a great day ... (y)

Mostly, saw the first lizard of the year yesterday, still no snake sightings after the big Texas freeze.
The fence lizards have been out and about here for almost a month now, Don. I think it was Tasty that I fed four mealworms to last night. Came right up and took them from my fingers just like always, as if it hadn't been 5 months since her last feeding. Also have seen more than a few smaller lizards, so they've had at least one clutch already this year. The more the merrier, I say. They eat a lot of bugs when they're not mooching meals off of me. :ROFLMAO:

RS, nice fish.
but can it do this?

by the time you are done you are ready to throw the whole thing in the water
just to shut it up

what I think is delightful is Al Green got more royalties from the fish singing Take Me To The Water than he did from anyone
else singing his song.

And of course who could forget the Sopranos episode where this fish was the star. I found the episode....ah, nope, two ladies dancing
with not much on at the Bada Bing episode, surely not for prime time

I just clicked on the pic for the mudfish er crawfish castle, well now, they look familiar. I used to get them all the time in NC on the muddy side of the driveway
going out the lane. These weird mud chimneys sticking up but never saw the crawfish.
Had to run over them with the mower tire to flatten them before the blades got there.

I've never seen them "up here" so they must not like colder winters.

Good morning all. This is the second calm day in a row. Whoopee, it lets me catch up with routine tree work while staying on the right side of the law. We have quite tough regulations on tree felling, if I wanted to fell more than 5 cubic metres of timber in any quarter of the year I would have to apply for a felling license. That is easy enough to work with, however on top of that, an additional agricultural rule means I can't even cut off a small branch between April and September (with not an ounce of discretion), so the pressure is always on at this time of year.

Anyone else have to look at a calendar before starting up a chainsaw ?
Our local Regional Council bought in a fellow who tried to introduce ridiculous changes along those lines. Such as if a branch or stick fell from a tree you could not pick it up or burn it. It had to stay there for the lizards etc. Do these people even have human brains in their heads? Maybe they are reptiles? Anyway he created such a furore in the region, that Council decided that they didn't have a job for him any more. (It was easiest for them) A great relief for the ratepayers.

We do have crawfish here in the canal, and probably the river too. Just not the large numbers like down south.

Early morning again (up at 2.00 ish) Dental script of Amoxycillin smell from my mouth was atrocious. Never had it that bad before. Stinks. Poor wife had to turn her back to me. God love her. Have a week to get through. Not sure I can handle that, let alone dear Lesley.
My hands are feeling a LOT better today. I guess after 12 needles they would have a affect like acupuncture as well. Maybe that helped. Although it is not noticeable I apparently have bad arthritis in mainly my left hand.
Such is Life.

You have to put raw bacon on the end of a string and lower it into the hole. The crawfish will grab hold and you can pull him up slowly.
