Drinking first cup of coffee. 18° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 40° with lots of sunshine. About all I got done yesterday was get some apples put in dehydrator. House smells good while they are drying out. Going to visit my son and his family today. First social visit in months. I feel safer now that I had second shot 3 weeks ago. Maybe some NASCAR in evening.
Cleaning up feeder droppings as snow melts.

Mostly, eyes are at bottom of black cap. They are very dark.

Buppies, I give up trying to figure out why I am awake at 4am everyday.

Rich, wish I had put my barn 14' high to ceiling.

DFT, I am careful when climbing more than 8'. I do not like heights. I found out that Meds were causing my balance problems. Changed diet. Off Meds. At 78 I think I am doing good.

Randy, your right. I still like my Xfinity plan. I doubt that those looking for better service live where Comcast/Xfinity serve. Spectrum does offer a similar service.

Bird, special prayers heading your way. Hope the med help.

Prayers and best wishes for everyone.

Good Morning All.

27 going up to 42 today in warming trend for next week.
No plans for today, hopefully watch the rest of the snow melt, so I can see
my Spring flowers start to pop up.

Rick, that really is a nice barn and you keep it well organized

60 miles Mostly, amazing you bike so far, what speed do you average?

Good morning all

14 now highs around 30 winds WNW 5-10 mph and sunny today.

Not much planned for today, wife mentioned a ride to the coast and some lunch so maybe do that.

Luther kinda cool for stick work isn't it?

Wasn’t to bad if you were in the sun, got
most of the area around house done. Found a lot of damage in wooded areas, some tree tops broken and hung up and a couple of small trees down, will need some help with that.

Stay safe and healthy
Enjoy your day everyone

Had the same problem for years, Buppies, but lately I have been able to sleep for 8 and even 10 hours a night for some reason. No more need for naps during the day!

Woke up to -13!🥶. Have to “push the button” on the coffee pot.

The cold weather is good for traction on the tractor today, which is useful because I have to do a bit of blowing today to clear a path to the wood pile at the rental property.

Got a good start on the workroom with SWMBO yesterday. She is good at organizing, and the room was getting so crowded and messy it was completely dysfunctional. More of that today.

Good morning all, and have a safe and happy day now that so many of you are getting vaccinated! (I am still waiting my turn.)

9 degrees right now...high in the upper 20's today.
Pretty good warming trend for the next 4-5 days...up to the upper 50's. That should take care of some of the snow. Then, it drops to the 30's again...

No plans today...watched "Starship Troopers" (which is great!) and a couple sequels (not so great) yesterday...probably a couple more flicks today (I have around 200 movies on DVD and Blu-Ray)

Good morning, no where near as cold as Check in Toronto, though the weak sun is not making much impression on the ice in the weather bucket.

Ron, that must be a great feeling to be able to safely visit family again.

Digging out a gatepost that has rotted off always seems to be a lot of effort. A few days ago I welded up some scraps of steel to go around 3 sides of a stump, thinking that I would then only need to dig down say 18 inches, screw in 4 bolts and pull out the post with the loader. I had drilled and tapped the steel for M12 bolts , though when I rummaged in the shed I couldn't find any long enough, instead I tried using coach screws. Utter failure, the coach screws bent and pulled through the rotten timber, I ended up digging down almost 4' on two sides before I could get it out. Never mind, I'm sure it won't be long before the next post snaps off and I can try again

Sunny, frosty 25 and the wind has finally died. Only 49 forecast today.

Ron, I'd like to smell those apples, too.

Took wife to get the shot yesterday, mine's today. Funny how things work out...Got an email from the state health department at 3pm after we got home, telling me it's "my turn" to get the vaccine, and who else do I need to simultaneously schedule? Would have been much more convenient for us to get them at the same time, driving to a closer clinic...would have saved about 200 miles over going on separate days in two different directions...but we're sticking to the original CVS appointments. While waiting for my wife to get the shot, saw one lady our age get hers, then go outside and take a selfie with the store logo in the background.

Cut a nice load of firewood before dark...a standing dead oak right next to the fox den. I have a trail cam there and have seen pix of bears, deer, turkey, coons, possums, squirrels, rabbits, groundhogs, coyotes, pileated woodpeckers, and skunks hanging out or passing through the area...but was concerned that skunks may have moved into the den...so plugged both "known" entrance holes with firewood rounds and cut the tree down and into rounds, careful to keep an eye out in case there was a third secret hole.

Good morning from FL! 51 and supposed to get to 64.

Gotta run, need to get moving early again

Everyone stay safe out there

Good Morning
It’s 25 and heading to 36 with clear skies and little to no wind.

Yesterday I spent a batch of time fooling around with 3D printer, overall the project was a success. The goal was to come up with a way to use Makita batteries to power other “stuff”. I purchased a replacement part to get the electrical connector, and printed the part to hold a battery and accept the connector.

Other than that, a quick trip to the restaurant to bring a large rotary hammer to the contractors changing the machinery for the walk in freezer that I have been nursing along.

Mostly, yes I do some mixing in my shop. The second floor is primarily a music room/studio. There is a piano, Hammond organ, drums, and various other instruments and amplifiers there as well.

Pop, those 3D printers are amazing, my son had one he bought as surplus from the defense contractor he works for. It’s not big enough to print out a ‘66 GTO, I already asked.

Popgadget, I think you have about a dozen of those batteries so maybe
you could make one of your cars a Makita EV...

and btw, the one third cost off brand Makita battery has done ok so far.
Doesn't get hot, but I do have to put it through the charge cycle twice to get fully charged.
I use a 5A battery in my house vac and this new one has held up well under load after a dozen charge cycles.
Now that I got the cordless chain saw with four batteries included, think I'm good for a long time.

Good Morning!!!! 43F @ 5:30AM. Partly cloudy skies. High 66F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph.
The 10-day is still calling for rain Monday-Wednesday, but less than an inch. Then more showers the following week, but not the March Miracle we need.

Last time I had to dig out a post like that, Eric, there was concrete around it and the resulting hole was a lot bigger than that tidy job you did. With no concrete in the way, I wonder if an auger could be used to chew up the post, or would it just skip off and make a mess? Or maybe use the auger to drill around the post. Easier than using a shovel or the old two handled post hole digger...

I keep running into differences in the Makita batteries such that new batteries won't fit into older tools, Paul. They put an extra plastic tab either on the battery or the tool that stops the battery from making contact. The basic dimensions of the rails stays the same, though. I've had some luck doing surgery with the Foredom to cut away the tab, but I found another instance the other day where I still haven't figured out which bit to trim.

No luck in spoofing the electric eye on the gate opener, but did manage to get the remote control buttons working. Most of the time, anyway. About one time in three, the signal to unlatch the gate doesn't get sent and the opener motor stalls out. I'm just happy nothing broke. It also sets off a siren, about the same loudness as the ones on car alarms. That got disconnected real quick! Had no luck trying to program a wireless keypad, so more homework on that today, too. Lots of documentation up at the US Automatic website, and maybe I can find some videos on YouTube. 🤞

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the weekend...

The two Chinese knockoff Makita batteries I purchased back in 2016 are still going strong, Drew. In fact, they get used the most. But now the charger gets put on a steel table outside on the front porch any time it's plugged in.

Not sure I mentioned it, but the dual battery Makita blower is a real workhorse, too. It's a hungry workhorse, and it gets the same batteries that the chainsaw uses.

Good morning, a chilly 36F here, going to 70. Opened the blinds to let the sun warm us up a bit. Nothing like Check's temps.

Church today.

Plan to cook 2 of my favorite brands of sausage today.

Wng, hope you got the holes plugged up. Glad y'all are getting your shots. Hoping you don't need too much more firewood in the next month.

Eric, try wrapping a clove hitch knot around your post and pulling up with FEL. I wonder how much deeper it goes down?

Looking for some baby Celebrity tomato plants still.
