36F and cloudy @ 10:45, headed up to a high of 38F for the day. Had a short period of intense rain late last night after I went to bed, very wet out there right now.

All the snow cover is melted at this point except for the places where I piled it up while clearing the driveway.

Heard voices outside yesterday around noon, a pair of the Junior Woodchucks had apparently stopped over and were amusing themselves by driving their radio-controlled car through one of the plastic culverts for creek crossing that I haven't gotten installed yet.

Did not get feeders filled up yesterday, might do that today.

I think I did get all the algae cleaned off of the 55G tank that has the S. fryeri in it yesterday. We get quite a variety of "algae" growth here - brown diatoms, colonial blue-green "algae" (neither of which are actually algae) some orange stuff (which I assume is algae) and a lighter green algae which is very tough to remove - requires lots of pressure and repeated passes, scraping it with a stainless blade. Very tenacious stuff.

Got the 20G Long cleaned out, substrate for it cleaned and put in, filter installed and running, mostly filled with water, and water treated. Need to match water temp to the tank the multis are in and then can move them over from the 10G tank they are currently in.

Will install the egg tumbler in the empty 10G tank in preparation for stripping the eggs from the S. fryeri. Looks like there might be some spawning activity there soon ... ;)

Based on my check yesterday, at least some of the white worm containers will need food added.

Have some tanks whose backs need painted and fish room carpet needs vacuumed so might do that today as well.

Menards 11% back on.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ... (y)

Gas prices started going up before TSHTF in TX.

Yes, they did:

National Historical Average Trends - GasBuddy.com

I used to track gas price in quicken, but stopped. I keep all the charge slips, so can go back and look. $2.51 at Costco today, $2.70 most other places.

Similar to what I've seen here.

My worst weather related landing in 30 some years of flying was in Maui, and where else you goin? I didn't know palm trees could bend 89 degrees and not break! A few days later some jerk drove his SUV into the airport lobby , set the car on fire and jumped back In!

One lady said, if your gonna commit suicide why not just drive over a cliff!

Closed everything for 3-4 days, what a hoot!

My worse landing was Gatwick fighting high crosswinds. Thought the left wing would hit the ground first, but at last second they dropped the other side down and wheels touched first.

Landing at BWI once, they braked real hard as soon as we touched down. Looked out window saw plane take off in front of us on the crossing runway. Nothing was said by pilot.

New information FEB 23th 2021 on Vitamin D and covid19. Study flawed.

"The study "falls well short of a well-conducted randomized trial. Whilst many wish to believe vitamin D is the cure to COVID-19 or an exciting treatment, this 'trial' cannot allow any such inference," he told the UK Science Media Center".

txdon most all medical studies are flawed at some point and D3 is no exception. Fed Up with Vit D3 "research" I started my own n=1 study over 5 years ago to force myself to read more Vit D3 to try an make sure I was not killing myself taking 50,000 units of D3 daily. I did learn about Vit K2 and Magnesium needs when taking Vit D3. I have been doing this daily for over 5 years without any known issue. I was going to drop back 20,000 units daily when Covid-19 hit the news cycle.

There was some research out of the UK a few years ago showing taking Vit D3 to be more effective than the annual flu vaccine.

I did read the other day where 87% of people in one group who died with Covid-19 after being put on a ventilator were very low Vit D wise. Here is a link about the research in question. Google Image Result for https://fullfact.org/media/uploads/Vit_D_study_chart_1.PNG

For the past 5 years my annual physical reports Vit D level >155.9 ng/ml due lab range being exceeded. For me personally in these time I would be uncomfortable with levels less than 75 ng/ml. If you live in a country that uses nmol/L standard multiple the ng/ml value by 2.5 to convert to nmol/L standard or do the inverse to convert in the other direction. The toxic levels reported by Vit D researchers were in the 500-600 ng/ml and due to mislabeled Vit D3 sources. One town dairy processor was the overdosing source but all cases recovered.

I do not give medical advice.

I think I heard about the D3 story on the MedCram YouTube channel a while back. My primary physician already had me on 3,000 IUs for osteoporosis, and the doctor on the video was taking 5,000. Last time I reordered, I went to 5,000, too, and so far, so good.

I find it hard to believe much of what I read these days about CoVid-19, but since I was taking D3 anyway, upping the dose was a no brainer if there was even the slightest chance of increasing my chances if infected. Especially since it would appear that my chances of getting the vaccine are much lower than getting infected, at least until I turn 65. Maybe the J&J version of the vaccine can help with that?

Good Morning!!!! 46F @ 5:45AM. Abundant sunshine. High 67F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph.
Still looking good for some rain next weekend, and even more through the following week. 🤞

The Watched link at the top of the page works like that, Drew. Once you're all caught up reading your favorite threads here on TBN, click on the "Mark forums read" link (also at the top), and from then on, any new posts to threads you're watching (subscribed to) will cause that thread to appear in the Watched list, and clicking on the link for that thread will take you to the oldest unread post. At least that's the way it works when I'm reading on a laptop.

I haven't purchased much music made past the '70s either, Kyle, but there was so much music made during that time I still run across holes in the collection that deserve to be filled. But I also run across new artists once in a while, usually through posts by friends on Facebook. Tash Sultana just released an album last week, and it's already a favorite.

Got two more pallets welded up yesterday, so today I'll work on getting 'em filled. All that black stuff on the driveway is plastic chips left from cutting out the forklift tunnels on the pallets. First time using the battery powered circular saw, and though I wasn't impressed with the power, it sure was handy. Looks like I'm gonna need more pallets, too; I'm down to my last six.

Caught this little fellow out on the patio last night. Good little bug getter, but they'll pee on you if you try to pick 'em up.😄

Still finding new things to like with the interface here on TBN. Pretty happy the "upgrade" has gone so smoothly. I did have to redo my avatar, though, and in the process, found my rifle and my jug.👍 Gonna have to redo the Signature, too, as all the hyperlinks got broken. Life in the fast lane...

Hope everyone's week and month gets off to a great start!
That looks just like our Cane Toads. Not so many around here now since I filled in the dam. They have poison glands behind their ears that can kill dogs and cats if they sit in their drinking water. Can make a dog hallucinate. One of mine (Pug) got some poison in his mouth once being too curious and started behaving very funny. We panicked and washed his mouth out with colloidal silver thoroughly. It bought him round after a half hour or so. It was late at night so the vet wasn't available. We hadn't had him long so we were pooing ourselves. We still have him 9 years later. He's my best mate.

A while back we were discussing AirDrop, and Don mentioned it wasn't working on is first generation SE iPhone. The SE 1st gen I have has been sitting on a shelf turned off, so just now I fired it up and tried it with AirDrop. Didn't work because it couldn't see the laptop sitting right next to it. But when I turned on Bluetooth on the laptop, the SE saw it, and I was able to move an image from the iPhone to the laptop, just like the iPhone 12. The SE is running iOS 14.3, and both machines have to have Bluetooth enabled. The image landed in a folder called Downloads in my user folder on the laptop.

Then I tried to AirDrop a photo from the iPad to the laptop. The iPad was about 25' away from the laptop and the two were separated by a wall. The iPad couldn't find the laptop. Moved the iPad into the same room, maybe 8 feet away, and the iPad could find the laptop, but wouldn't transfer the file. Set the iPad down on the same desk as the laptop, maybe 3' away, and the transfer went just fine. So there's a pretty short range within which AirDrop will work, too.

Glad your pup made it through OK. Sometimes I have to move one of the toads out of the garage, and even out of the house, and I make it a point to wear gloves. I'd hate to get hallucinations; I'm confused enough already.🤪

We have the cane toads here as well, very dangerous for dogs and cats, especially the smaller one. I’ve been fortunate in that my dogs usually avoid after initial encounter. I did have 1 male boxer who was very slow to learn. I used to say he was like an addict, knew better but couldn’t resist. He had several pretty bad encounters of the years. We kept liquid Benadryl handy and water hose. The poison isn’t swallowed, but absorbed through mucous. We are more than 1/2 to vet and most I’ve read is nothing can really be done - pretty much they survive or don’t. One time he got a dose when about 3 yrs old and feel in the pool. I drowned my iphone to save him as he just sank to bottom without a struggle.
I’m glad my current pups aren’t interested.
