Gloves or direct someone else. I hate working on oil burners. Normally I won’t. But this was for a very good friend in need, so there are exceptions to every rule.

Good morning! 39˚F clear skies, a good vitamin D day. Today is the 600 hour maintenance on the JD. I did my FireWise yesterday without the group because I was going wild with the chainsaw cutting broke limbs from the ice/snow storm and its best not to have 18 people around trying to help. Today they get to clean up my cuttings while I play with tractor, I know, life is not fair - for them.

The Instant Pot and now the Tempest, Cha Ching!

Turned cold here. 24F and windy.

About 64 thousand vaccinations given here in Lancaster County. Next week the County opens the mass vaccination center in an empty mall department store. They hope to start out giving 1000 shots a day. By the middle of the month they hope to be giving 6000 shots a day. Cases and deaths are down a lot from the peak. That must be a relief for the people at the hospitals.

This weeks Medcram video is about variants.

Won't be long till we are mowing again.

Chris

Good Morning
It’s 20 degrees heading to 35 and breezy with clear skies.

Yesterday, I spent a good portion of the day tinkering with a new Tempest weather station. So far, I really like it. Very easy setup, and agrees with the Davis that is mounted on the same pole.
More information about it on the “Weather Station” thread.

My friends oil burner struggled to run after getting the tank refilled.
From the looks of the nozzle igniters and filter, it must have been a long time since it was serviced. A good cleaning, new nozzle and filter got it running reliably. The ugly looking “gear” is a filter element.

Ended the day with a zoom meeting for the Odd Fellows Lodge.

Not sure what today will bring to keep me occupied, but I’m sure something will pop up. It won’t be a vaccination though, still trying to get an appointment.

I'm surprised that you didn't replace the igniters also;
I got a new tool this year for setting the igniters, inexpensive and works nice.
Becket burner gauge makes for easy igniter alignment and nozzle setting

Good Morning!!!! 50F @ 5:00AM. A mix of clouds and sun. High 73F. Winds light and variable.
March came in like a lamb this year, with a high of 65F and just the right amount of breeze to keep me cool while I worked the splitter. Rain still showing in the 10-day, but no big winds, so the lion is still sleeping.

Nice of you to help out your friend like that, Paul. 👍

Is a man with two weather stations like a man with two watches, that doesn't know what time it is?😄

When I think about living in a neighborhood again I cringe, Drew. When I remember what it was like to live in an apartment, well, just shoot me now, OK?

Sounds like an exciting season coming up, Rich. Hope the Marriot points hold up, and Lady Luck smiles on your rider!🏁

That little land yacht looks like a lot of fun, Kyle. How fast'll it go?

Seems like a lot of pressure for higher gas prices lately. The bad weather in Texas interferring with refineries, Saudi Arabia cutting production, changes in policy toward oil leases, and of course CV19. Diesel out here was over $3.50/gallon when I bought it a couple weeks ago, but something like a dollar/gallon of that is taxes. Twenty-five cents of that was new last January, imposed because the lower prices we were enjoying the previous couple years had hurt tax revenues. Now that the price is back up, you'd think they'd roll back the taxes, right? Fat chance.🤬

Yesterday I finished up a mostly loaded pallet and got it stacked in the container, split enough to load up another one, and get a good start on a third. Today I hope to finish that one and start cutting up another steel pallet.

Been throwing the short ends and mangled scraps in the back of the side-by-side as I go, and had it nearly full by the end of the day, so it was an easy call to ride it over to the camp fire ring and see how well it burned. I'd been poking some as I went with the moisture meter, getting values from 6% all the way up to 20%, the higher values coming from wood on the bottom of the stack that had been in the mud. No problems at all getting the fire started, and didn't miss the popping and sparking from the pine, which got finished up over the weekend.

yes, that is one of the options on the plate, thanks
real estate market red hot, low supply, folks paying abnormally high prices
Not a good time to compete with/in that...

Actually, I did replace them. Nice tool, but as I said, I hate working on oil burners and avoid them like the plague. My goal was to get them heat, and have them get the furnace properly serviced by someone else.

I had to increase the size of the background to 400x400 pixels and then crop it square to fix mine yesterday, Drew.

RNG, no luck on air drop. My SE version is 13.7. I unloaded lots to get enough memory for a upgrade but still have to delete more. I will just get a new phone soon.

mornin, cold , lots of black ice and very windy. So far only small branches on the ground , just lots of them.
Doe I see by the road lying down each morning was not there this morning, guess she moved on early.
Was funny watching her sleep under the front hunters tree seat.

Stay safe and be well, and hope your day is better than mine

It would seem that it would be easier / quicker .. for those making the changes that caused the "avatar issue" to fix the problem, rather than thousands of members having to individually make a correction?

Turns out that AirDrop uses both Bluetooth and WiFi, and has been around since 2012. Here's some more info.

One thing that might not be obvious to everyone is that airdrop only will work with a Mac computer, not with windows.

Good morning. It's 46° with an 11 mph north breeze. Our forecast says 63° this afternoon. Yesterday was cold, damp, windy, with rain off and on so .. a dryer day today is welcome.

We've got VFD apparatus checks this evening so .. we'll have to work around all the heavy earth moving machinery presently working on site prep for our new building. There's mud everywhere from our recent rains, snow, ice.

Today is Texas Independence Day and the 185th Anniversary of Texas declaring independence from Mexico on March 2nd .. 1836.

I spent yesterday morning in the big shop trouble shooting one of my air compressors .. a roughly 10 year old Craftsman "oil less".

IMG_2675.jpg

It runs but will not build any pressure in the tank. I removed all the covers and the top of the head .. expecting to see damaged reeds on the valve plate.

IMG_2865.jpg

The reeds look to be okay but .. I went online to partselect.com and ordered a new valve plate, the o-ring for bottom of the VP, the "D" o-ring for the top of the VP, and a piston o-ring JIC. They conformed my order but .. have not yet confirmed a ship date.

Perhaps the "Giddings Compressor Whisperer" will whisper some advise to me.

I've got a Porter-Cable pancake compressor to get me by but .. it's obviously pretty limited. This is probably a "good excuse" to go buy a "real air compressor" somewhere around 5 HP, 240 volts, 60-80 gallons and 14 CFM .. or better at 90 psi.

I trimmed several trees after our bad weather and took down a good sized oak the was leaning onto an even bigger oak. All are in areas, to wet to use tractors w/o lots of damage to fix later.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Prayers to all.

28°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 55° today.

We ran into the same pricing issues, too, Drew. It is definitely not a buyer's market right now. Hope you can work something out with the current place.
