Good Morning!!!! 58F @ 4:15AM. Sunny to partly cloudy. High near 70F. Winds light and variable.
The winds this morning are howling, but if the forecast is correct, it might be time to feed a burn pile today and start cleaning up the slash from the firewood gathering. We'll see.
I'm impressed with that download speed, David, not so much with the ping, though I see two and even three second pings through the satellite here on a regular basis. No idea what to do about it. The Unifi APs really like a clear line of sight. I learned that when signal strength went to pot as I sat next to the RTV, with it between me and a Unifi Long Range AP. I'm also not so sure that the Unifi Network application's algorithm for setting signal strength is very reliable. But according to it, when I start turning up the power levels, something called the Retry Rate skyrockets. That's probably not good, but I need to do more homework to figure out what to do about it. When I signed up for Starlink, the confirmation note said it would be available mid to late 2021. As I watch the satellite coverage map I see what I think look like gaps, but also what seem to be strings of new satellites on their way to join the rest of the constellation. That's encouraging, and I'm trying to be patient, but the software I have monitoring the satellite modem is power cycling it half a dozen times a day to get it going again. Starlink can't get here soon enough for me...
Yesterday I got all the files for the bankruptcy claim moved to what I hope is the correct place, but it took most of the day thanks to the Fire Victim Trust's lousy website and my crappy satellite internet connection. Today I'll spend a little time making sure everything made it there OK, and then electronically sign off to finish up.
While I was waiting for the uploads, I reviewed the latest responses from the contractor to the solar power system punch list. There were one or two useful answers, but also several "you need to go ask the equipment manufacturer about that" replies. I had a short talk with the project manager, who hadn't read the reply yet, and hope to touch base later in the week for a better answer. I explained to him that I'm relying on them to maintain the system into the future, and I don't get much of a warm feeling when they can't even get the bugs worked out that have been there since the system was commissioned six months ago.

The sunshine felt good on my face yesterday evening, too, as I knocked off a little early and sat on the patio watching the sunset. Spotted some odd looking, almost lenticular, clouds to the west. Maybe the aliens are spying on us again?

Hope everyone's week gets off to a great start!
