31° got up to 38°
Roads were good, stopped to get gas at station that GasBuddy said was $2.39. Sign said $2.79 so went to Costco and got $2.34

Wifey and I both have the smallpox scar... I remember being lined up at school, and watching everyone in the line get that gun punch in the arm....

Today, I'm sure someone would complain that it is cruel and unusual punishment.....

Good evening all. 9F for the start, overcast, light breeze. Light wind today, overcast morning cleared up in afternoon, and high temp was 37F. Plenty melting going on have leak around chimney in back porch and backflow prevention valve needs work. Cleaned ashes in insert this morning, stoked fire, and conserved energy. Did get nap in, went to supper and roads and temps will be rideable in next day or 2. Gas stations are having delivery problems as well

RNG thanks for mask info.
RNG our bodies immunity to other Covid virus such as cold are short term as well
Randy good new on Ellen getting first dose
Ken the board "decided" to run defrost or cooling cycle. Neither works on fridge at this point but light comes on. The funny looking area is where there was a copper conductor, now blown. the varnish is discolored next to it. Not sure what the black box is, or how susceptible it is to surges.
Drew glad you could get out and get so much done.

Kyle will be interesting to see if we get an honest review of the power issue and lessons learned actually get implemented. There should be a way to copy flies from one hard drive to another.

My first small pox was the dipped needle. Sugar cubes with eyedropper dosage of vaccine. We’ve progressed a bit.
I remember the injector guns from Army days.

Jet injector - Wikipedia

This Moderna injection - I’ve had more painful mosquito bites.

Waiting for first cup of coffee to cool a little. 14° with light snow this morning. Heading to 28° with mostly cloudy skies. Shopping yesterday went well. Shelves were full and hardy anyone in stores. Kind of normal weather for Michigan this time of year. My aunt did not go with me. She got her second shot. Was under the weather. Got to thinking, did I make a mistake buying Mule. So measure it's height to make sure it would fit in animal barn and garage doors. It fits. About 8" clearance above roof LED lights.
Michigan covid cases 635,446. Deaths 16,274. Oakland County cases 73,653. Deaths 1,965. 10.6 million have been test in the state. 1.2 million have been tested in county. Daily state new cases have averaged below 1k all this week.

Kyle, good to here you and family are making it thru Covid attack. I do not have the scar on my arm. My wife had one.

LS, be careful doing PT. My neighbor had knee replacement in December. In January she was doing one leg PT when new Knee collapsed. Ended up with another surgery and concussion. Keep support close by until full recovery.

David, glad you are getting out to work on network.

Ripties, hope the projects list gets smaller.

Everyone stay healthy and safe.

Good Morning All.

good Saturday morning all. And it looks like nice weather finally, yeah.
Definitely a warming trend, 32 today, then 37, 45, 49, 53
That will definitely melt all the snow so I think lawns will be off limits to most tractors for awhile,
everything is soft and squishy.

today is baking day, fruit muffins to make for a variety of folks.
If Popgadget is home, might take a plate of them over to him this afternoon
in thanks for his fixing my snowblower.

Need to get my car washed, what a salty mess

have fun this weekend, remind your loved ones you love them, and find a kindness to do

no slips
no falls

Ted, that's tough news, but not surprising. It's a very physical business,
where at least as a fireman we get in spots where you are struggling as hard as you can with a charged large line,
or crawling on your hands and knees trying to stay below heat of the room. And all the time you have to be able to rescue/pull out
your partner/buddy who with my luck was usually a pretty obese fellow. I got to the point where my back hurt enough I couldn't be sure I could
pull my buddy out of a building, then I knew I had to do something else. Drove the trucks for several years until one day my back gave out trying to lift
hard suction hose up to its holder on side of fire truck. That's about when I had to start going to the orthopedic guys, about 25 years ago.

Now your knee will hopefully heal up well enough you can do pretty much what you want, just not overstress it or put a lot of weight on it.
Which your job can truly include so best you ride a desk. You are too high up just to drive a rig...besides EMT rig guys usually have to do everything.
Meanwhile keep building that beautiful furniture.
Maybe they can plop you in a chair and let you give vaccine shots.

I doubt the county in from could have afforded a jet gun.

Morning all! 21 here going to 28 with cloudy skies.
We had about two inches of powder for early Friday morning so I just hand shoveled the main driveway. Looks like we got a few inches more during the day and overnight so I will fire up the tractor and do the rest after morning coffee.

Lost a school mate to Covid Thursday night. I can't get on the vaccine list yet as it is locked to 65 and older here. Unless you have a medical condition on their list of qualifying illness. The part that burns my butt is obesity is considered a qualifier!

Wife's car is stuck in New York state somewhere on a rail car waiting for clear weather and more new vehicles heading this way. Dealership has put an express order in to try and get it here ASAP.

Not much planned for the weekend. Will putter as much as I can and see what gets done.
Hope everyone gets through this weather ok! As always hope everyone stays safe and healthy!

Had that happen December 1979, we ordered a new Grand Am, it got stuck on a train in Pittsburg in the snow. But we liked the car so much we kept it 25 years and put 44000 miles in it, the last twenty mostly weekend cruising and car shows. It’s 1/1647 built. Wished many times I still had it.

Ted, I asked my brother about his knee experiences, very positive thankfully, hope this helps:

I have found that folks who have gone through full knee replacements that were even performed by the same doctor have different results. My journey with a full right knee replacement began five years ago at age 67. After being in increasingly chronic pain, my knee was replaced at the Rothman Center.

I spent one night in their facility. I never took a pain pill except aspirin after the initial anesthetic wore off. It just did not hurt that much. My discussions with others is that my experience with pain was fairly unique. Most folks take pain meds for a week or two. The most initial discomfort I had was sleeping comfortably. I, like many others, slept in a recliner. After no more than a week, I was walking slowly without a cane and in physical therapy. I think physical therapy is the key to a successful recovery. The moves and stretches are painful but they do work in restoring motion. Most of the people I have spoken to who had poor post surgery results admitted they did not do the required physical therapy.

Within 6 months I was walking 4 miles a day at a < 15 minute pace. I play tennis with my wife. The only restriction of movement I have is kneeling on that knee.

Randy, gorgeous car. I had a late 70's Grand Prix, burgundy outside, burgundy tufted velour inside, marvelous dash board full of gauges.
Pontiac did gauges well...
And I can't find any pictures of it.
I guess it was 1978 or 79, but I traded in a mint Chevy Nova, 305, dark blue sedan, nice wheels, on my first "nice" car. My new business partner sort of cringed
when he saw this rather flamboyant Pontiac in our parking lot. Three years later it was beautiful green four door Lesabre with green cloth interior.
Drove Buicks almost exclusively thereafter. Nice but not flashy. Lesabre Limited with the nice Buick wheels. Those big barges have sure gone out of style,
but I find them very attractive. Some days you just want to take your living room with you...

22 now high around 32 and partly sunny today. We got about 6” of light fluffy snow between yesterday and last night.

A quick cleanup and dump run this morning. Will take the rest of the day as it comes.

Wife and I were trying to remember the polio vaccine LOL we both had a single shot and then a liquid dose later on which was the Sabin vaccine, I think.
The small pox was the dipped needle.

Stay safe and healthy
Enjoy your day everyone

Good Morning
It’s 24 a high of 31 forecast along with 35kt winds, but no precipitation.

Yesterday was spent mostly in the shop with a bit of time in the tractor clearing snow. The annoyance of the day was discovering that Home Depot stopped carrying the size box I use for shipping my most popular model speaker.
Of course, I discovered this as I was out of boxes and have one ready to ship.
Other than that the day went smoothly, 3D printer is up and running, helped son with small milling task.
Today I’m going to pick up a 74 year old upright bass a friend found on Craigs list, and sent the ad to me, knowing I’m a sucker for a good deal. It’s about a 2-1/2 hour round trip, so it will kill the middle of the day. Hopefully, I’ll be back by 2, and not too late for a muffin delivery!

not too late for a muffin delivery!

not to worry.
And Thomas, it really is National Muffin Day, to my amusement,
and what better day to bake muffins.

Good morning, the temperature is 10°F and going up to 25. Wind N 5 mph. 30% chance of flurries.
We are in a warming trend, but still too cold for Texas.

We got about a 1/4" of snow since yesterday morning, not enough to bother with other than the steps and deck.

The trip to the grave with DIL is as follows; heart disease, fibromyalgia (sp), liver disease, her lungs aren't good, kidneys aren't doing all that great either. She needs a valve job, but with all the other stuff wrong she doesn't think it is worth extending her life (67) another 5 years. I see it her way, but we are still going to the heart doctor in Sudbury on Thursday.

I remember the sugar cube polio cure, I have no clue what I was vaccinated against when I went into the RCAF.
As for me, when the Moderna or J&J vaccine becomes available to me, then I will go for it, but I want PROOF that I took the vaccine, like a card that says what vaccine it was, who administered it, what date it was administered on, what batch number it was and what dosage I got.

Have a safe day all

Good. morning! Brrr. 20˚F and falling, hurry up sunrise. Full sun today and the wind will come from the South in an hour so should have a good melt day if we can get to the predicted 50˚F.

My neighbors patio cover collapsed under the weight of the snow and ice yesterday morning. (That was one Big Bang that was easily figured out.)
With 5 hours above freezing, yesterday was a pleasant day and Whipper was so excited to go on walks again, just a prancing and smiling. Enough ice melted in the street that we could easily navigate the ice patches for a mile walk.
I was finally able to get to another neighbors house after the ice melted on his drive and found the reason he could not light his water heater. The knob had to be in the exact pilot position before it could be pressed down. easy fix and his wife called that evening to thank me after she had a hot shower the first in 5 days.

My wife fixed a good pot of split bean soup for another neighbor that can not get her groceries delivered this week.

Things are looking up here, I hope Kyle's water pressure problems are resolved. My mom is on a different water system and she only lost water for an hour. Her repairman came by yesterday with the part he ordered and fixed her main heater. She immediately called the propane company for a delivery but they were out and will not get a delivery to them till Tuesday, so she is on the list, but at 50% of a 250gal tank she should be good for 10 days to two weeks even if it stays cold.

Edit, now 19˚F but I see a bit of an orange glow in the East.

Good Morning!!!! 43F @ 4:15AM. Rain showers this morning with some sunshine during the afternoon hours. High 59F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 50%.
Only 0.07" of rain overnight, snow pack in the Sierras is only 67% of normal for this year. Severe or Extreme drought conditions. We need another March Miracle...

Drew, your timing is impeccable!

Can you do EMS training, Ted?

Nice shot of the happy couple, Ron.

Very close to finishing PG&E bankruptcy questionnaire, maybe get it done today.

Extra yummy batch of chili made first and last meal yesterday. The rest gets frozen today.

I think I still have the smallpox scar, but have no recollection of the vaccination. Maybe too young to remember. Then again, sometimes I can't even remember what I had for breakfast, so there's that, too.:confused3:

Still having to use the key to open the gate; buddy dropped the ball. And no word on the old tractor sale, either. Too many balls on the floor.

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend!
