Good morning
It’s 30 degrees and going to 34, snow just started, supposed to be 3 or 4 inches and then sun comes out in the afternoon.

Yesterday’s pop up task was a hydraulic snowblower on a Bobcat at the airport. The auger wasn’t turning. There was no shear pin, it has its own hydraulic motor, and depends on a relief valve for protection. The shaft spun freely, so something was clearly wrong. Had to remove the motor and auger as an assembly and separate them to discover the coupling between them sheared a 5/16 straight key and split the coupling and pulled the threads out of the motor shaft. Was able to HeliCoil the motor shaft, but decided they should order a new coupling rather than make one.

Stopped at a friend’s farm on the way home to measure up a snowplow cutting edge to make a CAD drawing to get some cut out on a waterjet at another friends shop. He cut the square holes in backer plate for carriage bolts for me as well as the holes in the Urethane, when I switched to a urethane cutting edge.

To answer Drew’s question mine was a frozen newspaper as well.
I tried every weapon in the arsenal to get it out, from prybar to sawzall. Ended up with kerosene and a torch and burned it out.

My wife has going through my mother’s things, she discovered this picture of my brother and I from around 1953.

Today I’ll wait and see if I’ve got to plow some snow, maybe resort to cleaning up the shop while I’m waiting. Not much else planned, but something usually presents itself as the day progresses.

Still no vaccine.

Good morning All.

33 and dry at 5am, snowing hard right now and still 33. The ground uncovered by yesterday’s melt is white again. This is supposed to be over here around 2pm. I’ll clean up if necessary because temperature headed to teens tonight.

Will watch the game this evening. Go Chefs!

Everyone stay safe and healthy.

Good morning! 15 now, 20 later. Snow in the forecast early in the week, forecast for next weekend is frigid.

Got most of the wood split. It was a nice day, but my feet eventually got cold. So that was it. First time I have sat in the seat of the tractor since mid-November. Gonna have to look at the quick connects, the one was a PIA yesterday trying to get the line from the log splitter connected. The other one connected easy.

Also got my question answered about the transfer port alignment to the cylinder liner. I just needed to compare to the original cases...doh. Should have thought of that Friday. Replacement cases must not have got the same attention production did.

Worst think I ever hit with the snow blower......a floor mat out of a car/truck. Was clearing the gift the county road department left in the end of the drive and the snow blower just locked up and died. Must have been a floor mat someone threw out that got plowed into the end of the drive. That was fun digging it out of the augers and impeller. I invented a few new descriptive words that night. Of course it had to happen at night.

Still not sure why someone would throw a floor mat out while driving down the road.......

I think it is time for another coffee!

Everyone stay safe out there
