Getting ready for the Super Bowl party tomorrow making a big bowl of chips. Started in the garden went through the kitchen and now dehydrating in the garage. These are Kale chips usually about $30 a pound. They should be dehydrated by game time. The Flavoring is blended cashews/red bell pepper/nutritional yeast and spices. They will be a spicy cheesy tasting nacho flavor.

You sir are doing better then most. Wife and I both wish we were just on an aspirin.

Start off in the morning with a pill for acid reflux, and 1 at night for cholesterol. High stress job and bad genetics. Body refuses to produce enough good cholesterol even with diet, exercise, and a fish oil pill.

Then I get a shot once a month for psoriatic arthritis.

I found that fish oil was causing me to have heartburn.

Nice over cast and rainy day. Dropped my wife at the hair dressers this morning. Then ran some errands.

Back in a service truck again. So I needed to update some tools on the truck. So I did a trip to Harbour freight.

Been a couple years since I stopped in. They have definitely upped their game on tool quality and selection

Then stopped by academy sports for a few pair of wool socks.

Headed to Wichita Kansas tomorrow to supervise a wellpoint system install at a new waste water treatment plant they are building. Gonna be a cold miserable week jetting in well points.

Got my chest waders packed in the service truck. Along with a couple pair of muck boots incase one of the guys doesn't have any or they spring a leak.

I'll be dry, but wanted some wool socks to keep my feet warm. Supposed to be below freezing all week there.

LS - that chest looks as good as any i've seen from pro furniture shops.
Always like to see others work, one day I will have time, but in skill I might be a little short

Dad and his GF got their first shot on schedule, what a relief.

Watching Black Scorpion on TV. Forgot how silly and fun these old movies can be.

TXdon - hope they caught the right guy, too bad after the fact. We had an arsonist here. Got caught finally with a failed fire in a bathroom at a local club. What a nut.

DFTodd - stay warm, was in Wichita once....

Gnight all back to the giant scorpions

Was down to freezing this morning, but warmed up nicely. Still some snow patches...more due tonight.

Don, that's terrible about the courthouse. Your muffins look good with big peach chunks, and I like that coffee tasting wheel. I've got a printed one that is similar. Most folks don't realize that coffee has more aromas (800) than wine.

LS, that sounds like a pretty bad dust storm you had. Such a pretty part of the country, but can be tough living.

I took my generator out of the tool shed for a pre-storm test yesterday. Battery dead...haven't had to run it much, and last ran a 30 min. test back in August, but the battery is 5 years old. Fortunately was able to pull start it...but wasted my shoulder before I realized I didn't have the propane line screwed on right...fixed it, and started on the first pull. Ran it for 45 minutes, plugging the air compressor in for a load, using it to cha ching the filter on my shop vac, that was pretty clogged from cleaning out the woodstove back in October. Then plugged in the shop vac and cleaned up the tool shed...so got pretty good use on the genny, and wheeled back for storage.

Today the mountains were calling and we went up to Shenandoah. Surprised how deep the snow was since it's been a while since snow fell. Now I won't complain when I call their phone number and hear that the road is closed due to snow and ice...in fact the southern section still hasn't opened and they'll get maybe a foot of new snow tonight. They had worked hard to plow many miles of roadway, and don't use chemicals. Saw a lot of deer, all looked healthy. Cross country skiers and snowshoeing folks were up at Big Meadows. Most all of the popular trail head parking areas were full or nearly so.

Pop, funny story of your family watching the video of your tumble. Glad you're okay.

Buppies, I hope you got your house good and warm before taking off to the beach again.

"using it to cha ching the filter on my shop vac,"

I see what you did there.

Second only to cleaning radiators .. IMHO .. is cleaning air filters, vac filters, etc. The 90° end is invaluable.

I've still not figured out how to not get filthy blowing out air filters .. regardless of wind direction.

Good evening. It was 47° this morning and finally got up to 67° this afternoon.

We held our "groundbreaking" this morning, for our new VFD building. It was well attended by neighbors, Colorado County officials, and a majority of the other VFD Fire Chiefs in our County.

Monday we start our dirt work in earnest.

I spent the afternoon chopping yaupon, trimming trees, and had to start a new burn pile. It's been too windy to burn .. for about a week.

One of our neighbors, who's husband passed away a couple of years ago, has a good sized burn pile. I'm going over tomorrow to mow a clear area around it .. to prep it for burning. Whenever we get a calm day, I'll go get our VFD Brush / Grass fire truck and light it off.

Don .. that's sad that Mason County lost their Court House. We're very proud of our renovated 1890 Court House in Colorado County. Ours .. is not so ornate but, we're a poor county.

Hope everyone has a peaceful weekend.

Prayers to all.

I got my plowing finished, took all of 5.5 hours. I was stuck for an hour and had to get the local towing company out to winch me out, $80.oo what the heck, they gotta eat too. No pics, but I was buried. Right front wheel completely buried and the right drive tire I could just see the top 2" of it. Bucket was no help as the hydraulics weren't strong enough to push me backwards until buddy started hauling me backwards. Came real close to rolling it.
There is one thing I have learned about tire chains, they are a good traction aid but when you get as stuck as I was they are a hindrance and will help you dig yourself down to China. That is twice I've done that on two different spots on this property.
I will take pics tomorrow in daylight and post them.

township plows out brining the roads

went to clear a path in back lawn to generator and boy the snowblower worked poorly. Figured maybe the snow had
settled too much in the rain, but that wasn't it at all. Apparently I put blower away last time with a broken shear pin caused by
a piece of gravel getting wedged between auger and frame. Took me a while to change it since part of the old pin had jammed in the hole.
Put a big piece of cardboard down in snow and got it all freed up. Pretty easy actually, have had much worse.
Including years ago when I gobbled up an entire Philadelphia Inquirer Sunday section in a neighbor's snowdrift.
I never did another neighbor's lane again until I asked carefully if there were any IED's out there. Took me over an hour to get that jammed newspaper out of the
rear of the blower. Have a nice supply of spare pins now.

we ought to have a little contest here...what was the worst thing you ever ate and didn't spit out with a snowblower?
Or maybe the worst thing you hit with your blade. Time to fess up and give the rest of us inspiration!

Buppies, I was planting potatoes the last few years on March 1. Am having a hard time being patient this year
