the doorbell cam worked well, too. Maybe a little too well, as it showed me I'm gittin' pretty ugly in my old age.

Ain't it a good thing you weren't counting on getting by on your looks then.:D:laughing:

Finally had a chance to visit my ailing neighbor, Kim...
As expected, very weak but considering her illness, in surprisingly good spirits and not gaunt at all. If it wasn't for her weakness, I wouldn't even have thought she was ill
We didn't discuss her time left, but I'm sure she knows there isn't much more

Thanks for the chiropractor and daughter dating advice.

My daughter laughed at L4N's comments. Lol.

Having 2 sons it’s hard for me to give advice from experience, except to say my sons want girlfriends and it doesn’t seem to work the same way. My oldest has dated a good bit, but nothing has clicked.

A friend, who was an army colonel gave the first guy who asked his daughter out an “application for dating my daughter” as a joke. Didn’t go over well. His daughter eventually dated and just married a guy the parents were not impressed with. Will be interesting to see how it works out.

Good evening all. 64F for the start, cloudy, windy. Moderate wind with brisk gusts, Sky cleared some after frontal passage, and high temp was 67F and low temp forecast to be around 44F at midnight. Updated TV to start the day, instructions not very clear on that when memory stick with update installed update would begin right then. Still having issues with video/audio sync. Checked out tires for Volagi, found cuts with glass, unbeaded tire digging out glass so took Peugeot. Went for bike ride, wind really messed with me, nap, found fresh gopher activity, first in 6 days. Then got phone call one of guest at wife's party last Thursday no Covid positive.
Covid update: Cooke 616 confirmed cases, 30 active cases, Montague 367 confirmed cases, 49 active cases, Grayson 3011 confirmed cases, 273 active cases.

1.33 inches rain and afternoon turned nice, but it was after 3 so too late to be productive. Chose to spend quiet, enjoyable day with my sweetheart.

mostly, I roughed up the bottom 3/4" of the dash and stuck a 14" section of Gorilla tape (I've got Gorilla duct tape) lengthwise on it and stuck the lights to the tape. That was yesterday evening. They were still where I put them this morning. I have a bunch of 1/8" x 6" zip ties, IF I absolutely have to I will drill holes into the dash and hold the lights on that way.

good morning all
warmer morning, 60 out now as warm front brings in rain from West, rain starts this afternoon and continues into tomorrow.

Chose to spend quiet, enjoyable day with my sweetheart.
doesn't get any better than that!:cloud9:

Bill you sound very determined, not exactly sure what kind of lights you are installing, take a pic at night after you have them going please

plumbers coming this morning to put in new well pump air tank, at least I don't have to pay for it. Going to run some wash before they get here.

for all of 26 bucks ordered a replacement mechanical Honeywell round thermostat, the ancient kind with zero controls on it, to replace the one in my kitchen.
Every time the oil burner comes on, temps in house shoot up 3-4 degrees, not 1-2 as they should. They say "easy to install", are these low voltage or 110V devices?
If the latter, need to throw the breaker and then retest for juice.

once plumbers leave, headed down to Colmar/Montgomeryville to my friend's coffee business, where his son has built a touchless sanitizer station that I am donating to my church.
Lots of them listed on Amazon but apparently most out of stock ? Church committees can be really dysfunctional, talk things to death and not do anything. I'm a doer...
Ordered unit with one gallon of aloe sanitizer gel. Son has CNC plasma cutter and is making all kinds of neat things with it, including outdoor fireplaces, called chimineas I think.
He is very mechanically minded and is the one helping me build stuff I get from Amazon.

Really looking forward to this Sunday when we get woodshop put together. Wen circular saw came in yesterday, intentionally ordered 13amp one instead of 15 due to garage wiring, and installed a nice Freud Diablo finishing blade on it. Trying to avoid getting a table saw due to cost/space and with the nicer band saw I have, plus smaller size projects, think this will work if I don't have to rip too many boards.

Amazon woke up and realized they had now sent me two Porter Cable shop vacs and want to get paid...reasonable. For 55 bucks I think I'll keep the second one and use it as a dedicated sawdust eater in wood shop. It has 4hp and plenty of suction, plus is reasonably quiet.

did some youtube viewing on replacing Honeywell thermostat. Most folks replace with programmable model which being digital has better temp control too.
I don't need programmable, I'm home almost all the time but could be that wide temp swings are normal for mercury switch units. Original design was 1953 and basically
unchanged since then. And yes I will turn off power first.

A quick "good morning" from me, rain will be here by the afternoon and I would like to get in a couple of replacement strainer posts while the ground is still firm enough to tamp.

Lots of different thoughts from here to be reflecting on while I dig. What a varied mix of discovery, happiness, sadness, contentment and wonder a small bunch of people can get through in a single day.

63 and light rain going to 73 and heavy rain. Hope I don't get the 5 inches Buppies mentioned, but our weatherman says it's possible.

Prayers and thanks to our Veterans for our Freedom.

Got the trim primed nailed caulked and stained yesterday. Wanted to do one more coat but dew started falling. Also did some roof work...this rain will tell me how successful I was.

Poured firs cup of coffee. 49° with some clouds this morning. Heading to 54° with lots of sunshine. Indian Summer is over. Yesterdays Dr appointment went well. Got a steroid injection in right ear. Plus appointments for 2 more. Some improvement in hearing already. But a long way to go. Said cutting coffee and salt is very basic control for ears. Not successful most of the time. Last of yard ornaments stored away in barn for the winter. Take my aunt to same Ear Dr I went to yesterday. Then take her home. Been great to have her here for a few days.
Fat woodpecker.

Drew, you will like the digital thermostat. Most use furnace power. The ones I installed in my Motorhome used battery.

Eric, hope you win the race to rain with your project.

Roy, special prayers for your neighbor.

Randy, Gracie and you picked a good relaxing place and time.

Buppies, hope your paver get repaired soon.

Kyle, I think everyone is trying to give you payback for your help on other subjects for your daughter. My 2 sons have done very well with the girls/ladies they married. Good parenting on both sides.

David, how could that be a drought in HI.

RNG, no bad weather forecast in the near future. Red shows up almost every morning. Clouds and timing are important to get pictures. It only last 10 minutes at best.

Thanks to all the VERTRANS for their service.

Everyone stay safe and healthy.

Good Morning All.

Having 2 sons it’s hard for me to give advice from experience, except to say my sons want girlfriends and it doesn’t seem to work the same way. My oldest has dated a good bit, but nothing has clicked.

My buddy at work says his rule was, the potential beau had to come and eat at the family table before there was any dating. Sounds good to me.

Mostly, I used to hate the wind while bicycling...then I got a sailboat....and now I am much more rotund. :) Thanks for the prayers.

Wng, sounds like another great hike.

Rip and Penn, I never got my pilot's license, but my first girlfriend's dad was a retired Lt. Col from the airforce with over 10,000 flight time including F4's. He took me under his wing and started teaching me, first in a small PA120, then he bought a Bellanca Citabria....and we did plenty of aerobatics. You could fly it inverted for a minute, with it's extra oil pump. Tragically, he was killed in it, along with another man (who had a failing business). Augered in. I was almost ready to solo. I have since found out that many Bellanca's have had wooden structural failures. I won't fly in one. Another church friend bought an older Bellanca. But he was getting up near 80 years old. I'm glad he lost his pilot's license before that plane had any problems.

My best friend has a cream puff Piper Cub, and a Super Cub undergoing a decade long restoration. ($$$). I love the Super Cub. It's been a long while since flying in it. It was parked at El Paso airport, and a wind storm broke one of the tether ropes, and it was flipped over.

My daughter is leading a student led service at our school's stadium tonight. She and another guy will both play their guitars. Our church's youth leader will speak. We were able to line up a fellow church member with a big PA sound system. I'm taking the day off to help gopher. Prayers for many to come. So I will not be praying for rain today, even though we've only had .23" in the last 30 days. Don was right, we are under burn ban again.

Need a battery for the Steiner. Called a junkyard yesterday. They want $33 for an "average" battery, and $45 for a "premium" battery. $12 core refund available.

Prayers for all our online team.

Wife's neck and back are much better after taking ibuprofen yesterday. She liked the Bob and Brad videos. Thanks all for the chiropractic replies.

Thank you to all our Veterans!

Yes and when the battery dies the AC stops and it did at Mom's on a 100degree day. Not knowing what went wrong I called a Tech out and that battery cost $70. Need to remember to change it out once a year.

Happy Veterans Day to all the Veterans. No mail today.

Good morning! 48˚F heading to 77˚F clear skies. This most recent cold front came in yesterday at the last 10 minutes of FireWise clearing and was like a breath of fresh air dropping temps 10˚ quickly.

Today is park day and we will be working on crest of a hill where the overlook trail will be. Right now the cedars block the view overlooking the central Texas hill country. I missed the last two weeks one because of rain and one because of a dentist appt. so I rearing to star buzzing down those cedars.

When the front came in yesterday we had a very light rain - the first rainfall since I put out the the new additional attached rain gauge - both measured 0.0". There was only enough rain to get the surface wet.

Kyle glad your wife is feeling better. Brad and Bob are our to go to physical therapists for those annoying pains which seem to be more frequent as we get older.

Good morning, the temp is 55°F and going down to 54. Wind SW 14 gusting to 22 mph. Rain with risk of T-storms.

Indian summer is about done, now onwards to winter.

I've got a few tiny jobs to do today. Don't know how far I will get on them.

A huge thank you to all the veterans left. If it wasn't for them, I don't think many of us would be here. I know for a fact that if Germany/Japan had won the war I wouldn't be here.

Have a safe day all

Good morning

It’s almost 65 here with rain coming for today and tomorrow.
I chased the leaf blower around a little bit yesterday afternoon when I got home from my trip, looks like the trees around the house are almost bare now.

Changed the last fluorescent fixture in the shop to LED bulbs, it’s amazing how much brighter they are, and I used all 5000k so it’s a nice white light as well. All the fixtures were 8 footers, apparently they are no where near as popular as the 4 footers, LED bulbs were not as easy to come by, and they required bypassing the ballast.

Drew , if your thermostat was only for an oil burner, it would be unlikely that you could use anything other than a battery powered digital or your round Honeywell. If it also controls a/c, you might be able to put in a system powered thermostat, but would still have to connect a common wire to power it if there were enough conductors in the thermostat wire, but your old round one did not need a common. Also you made me chuckle about trying to achieve a consensus to move forward on a task at church. Been there many a time.

Kyle, the problem with the Citabria was that they had spruce wing spars and no access holes to inspect them. There was a directive to add inspection holes and do repetitive inspections or replace the spars with aluminum ones.
The rest of the airframe is chrome moly steel tubing with no issues.

Today looks like a good day to go mining for horizontal surfaces in the shop. I am pretty sure that they exist, but it will take some digging to expose them.
