Yep, it is cold out here!.... the highest temp was that 19 this morning, dropped to 17 and stayed there all day... it is now 15, on the way down to 8 tonight. Snow finally arrived and is predicted to last until Wednesday morning. Maybe up to 18" of snow.

There is snow going further south to areas that rarely see just a few flakes, they might get 4-5".
------------------------
I think your snow valve stuck open needs parts or replacing. ;)

First cup of coffee is cooling. 37° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 41° with chance of rain in afternoon. Finished up cellar door project yesterday. Still need to paint it. But no rush on that. Collect all the tools today and put back where they belong. No other plans. No signs of that white stuff here yet. At least for the next 14 days.
Leaves are not dropping very fast. Yellows are getting darker every day. Thank Comcast for cable in middle of pictures.

Drew, suggest a new Mustang for to your brother. My son is in Sevierville TN this week. Did tail of the Dragon with his yesterday. Great ride. Lots of them on EBAY.

Popgadget, :welcome: to Good morning thread.

Luther, good reminder that I need to top off my diesel storage container.

LS, hope snow melts before next spring.

Mostly, cozy looking fire.

Looking, I cracked my knuckles when I was younger. Cannot do it any more. But no finger lock up.

PJ, doing projects others is the one thing that I regret/miss about retirement. Enjoy your neighbors helps. He needs the companionship.

RNG, good to hear your power system is able to support a welder.

Everyone stay healthy and safe.

Good Morning All.

Did the Tail two years ago, a lot of fun, but Ellen was holding on to the “oh sh-t” handle the whole time. LOL

Think I'll put the blade on the Deere this afternoon.

Than that's my warning sign to put rear tire chains on Kubota and check to see if Fisher plow for pickup needs anything also put side walk boards in place plus find the snow shovels this weekend.

"Coco is still improving...only one sore, but still a lot of missing hair spots...most will not grow back. She developed a limp and the vet said to go back to her prior level of prednisone. She is a fun and happy dog now."

GREAT news indeed.

Good plan. My wife hit a buck last night.
My weather station is a Davis Vantage Pro, it’s been out in the field on a pole for at least 15 years.

I hope not with vehicle.
Also have the same model weather station and held up well over the years.

Good morning, the temp here is 23°F and going to a high of 36. Wind NE 5 mph. A mix of sun and cloud.

We got the floor finished for the greenhouse that will get erected next spring. Just need to lay out the pathway to it and lay down the mulch.
We garden in tubs and totes because the dirt is really crappy and chuck full of weeds. I got the last of the totes into the storage room and I have determined exactly where I am going to put my BH for winter.
With the BH off I can put the BB on and be ready for the snow that I know Ma nature and old man winter will throw at me.

I've got a town run today and maybe throw a tarp over the shelter I keep the tractor in.

I also need to set up the remotes for the block heaters on the Kioti, Dodge and Jeep. All three heaters are on the same circuit, daisy chained.(I only use one at a time so I can get away with that.) That ought to take me about an hour.

Stay safe and healthy all

Good Morning!!!! 63F @ 4:15AM. Sunny. High 84F. Winds NNW at 10 to 15 mph.
Still have a Red Flag Warning until 5PM today, and no telling when utility might turn the power back on. :confused3:
One silver lining is that there aren't as many people using the satellite internet connection, and it's much faster than usual.
Still no sign of rain in the ten day forecast.

:welcome: Popgadget!

Looks like a good one, Drew. Do you have any plans to add it to Weather Underground? Hope you have better luck with your new HP than I did mine. I had their tech support on speed dial...

I found lots of Steiner service manuals for sale on eBay, Kyle, but nothing electronic for free download. I gave Kubota $175 for the M62 workshop manual, but have already saved that much not paying the dealer to do things I've done myself.

Sounds like a good neighbor to me, Paul. Maybe Customs was looking for drugs in your new guitar?:confused2:

Please keep the door shut on that snow, Ted. I'd like to enjoy a few more weeks of fall.

Got the plug part machined out of the plate yesterday, but the o-ring groove still needs a little work.

Also cracked the secret recipe for using the RTSP feed from the Unifi security cams in other applications, so I can retire the last of my Amcrests.

Weatherman says this month's full moon will be blue, so if you've been waiting for one, it'll be here on Saturday.

I find the lead up to this winter is odd. Charlotte, NC is 920 miles due south of me and if you were to take a straight line west, Edgewood,NM would be on that line. So 920 miles south and I am getting warmer temps than you guys and I find that odd. I wonder if that would continue through the winter and when we get to -40°F, will you guys be colder? Just a thought.:D

Rav4 vs 8 pt whitetail. Rav won, but got bloodied. Still perfectly driveable, but will need some paint, plastic and sheet metal.

59-69 today, still foggy, some cool weather after some heavy rain upcoming. My LaCrosse weather station was cheap, but the flow meter rain gauge is by far the most accurate one I’ve ever had. Measured against a graduated jar there was never more than .01 difference, so I stored the old gauge.
Might mow later if it dries out, other than that I’m not sure, maybe replace the battery in the Cub Cadet garden tractor and the El Camino.
I hope all the deer strikes get fixed with not too much out of pocket.
Everyone have a nice day.

   / Good morning!!!! #120,912
freaking deer, giant rodents on the loose...a terror to car grills everywhere.
Jammed on my brakes this morning to avoid a buck besides the road, which thankfully went back in the woods.
Paul/Popgadget, glad your wife is ok and that airbags didn't go off.

There used to be a drag strip in Elephant up your way, a favorite spot in high school. Unfortunately the noise upset the local cows and
much to my distress my attorney mother represented the farmers and got the place shut down. Never mentioned that to my friends for sure.

You are only about 12 miles from me. Did you get your Kubota in Pipersville or Doylestown? I bought mine in Doylestown when it used to be Histands.

Good morning all, 49 going up to 61 and still cloudy with light rain
Did not get anything done yesterday but day job :-(

Popgadget - wife ok ? So many bucks running around here they need their own crossing lights - welcome to the GM thread!
LS - last time it was that cold around here I blew out the shock on my mountain bike-it froze and the seal popped
Wng- Coco sounds like major improvements - that is great news!

Stay safe and be well.

38 right now...high in the mid-40's...

Good morning! Had to stop reading and post after Roy's post because not too often we have the exact same temp and same highs for the day!

It's been misting all night and there is a downspout by the bedroom window and the drip drip drip of the water falling down the downspout and hitting the curved piece at the end was sounding like a drum all night. That will be taken care of today even if I have to freeze to fix it.

55 outside heading to lower 60's Just a little foggy.

I managed to get a nice coat of paint on the porch ceiling yesterday. Unfortunate it seriously took a toll on the shoulder. Will be a do nothing day for me today.

The big deal on this project is not to mess with the inside of the house. I had to install a new door and windows. The door was not an issue since I could reframe around it and added a transom to it. We found the original transom a while back. Of course being an older house, the area is was not completely square. Nothing is. The windows were a challenge. I had to replace the original while not messing with the inside finished framing. The other window, was not present, drywalled over. I just had to frame it out while not making a mess in my study. The door required most of the inside patch work and "new" inside framing. Both windows I got installed with no inside patch work, Just a little bead of caulk.
Upon removal of the overall drywall on the ceiling the original wood was still there. Unfortunate two major access areas had been cut into it. That necessitated a really long search for matching wood. We patched the holes, used an abundance of arm power scraping the construction glue off, and a lot of caulk here and there. Then I tore off the houses front original siding. Reinsulated it. After spending days getting the blown in stuff, out. Sheeted it, foamed it. Walls are done. Just need siding. Primed and painted ceiling. Ceilings done. Debating on what to do next - walls, siding, or flooring, decking. Actually today might be mortar mix day to seal up the front foundation.

Hope all have a great day. Be safe.

Calling for heavy rain Thursday (2" give or take) and a couple inches of snow Friday, as I'd written. However, a YouTube forecaster predicts a lot more snow by week's end. We'll find out Friday which forecast was accurate...can't hurt to be prepared though...
Thomas, if I recall, you have a deer feeder out on your property....how much does it hold?I'm thinking about getting one...not a hunter, don't like venison...love watching deer though.

37°F and light rain this morning, going all the way up to 42° today. We get a break tomorrow, then more rain on Thursday. Noticed yesterday evening that the level of the pond is slowly rising.

Saw a buck standing at the side of the road in a field on the way home Sunday night, and remarked to The Wife that it was the first buck I've seen all year. He wasn't big, but had a decent rack. I see does pretty much every morning. Fortunate to have never hit one.

Welcome to the GM thread, Popgadget. Always room here for another Paul.

I remember at one time people would put little deals on the front bumper that whistled to warn the dear you were coming. I don't know if they worked or if they were just another gadget for JC Whitney to sell.

Chris

   / Good morning!!!! #120,919
There is a gadget out there that when stuck on the front of your vehicle and you are traveling over 30 mph makes a whistling sound that the deer can hear but we cannot and it scares them back into the bush. It is called a Wildlife Warning system. I have it on the big truck and it seems to work.

   / Good morning!!!! #120,920
I've been putting "deer whistles" on my cars and motorcycles since the late '80s. They seem to work.
