Good evening all. 55F for the start mostly clear, light breeze. Moderate wind with some brisk gusts, sky stayed clear, and high temp was 85F. Gopher update: found one of his burrows, opened propane torch into it for 30 min. then put trap at opening. In other news, went grocery shopping this morning, got gas for golf cart, boat and lawn mower, chain saw etc. Bike ride and nap.

59F and clear @ 22:15, headed to a overnight low of a balmy 56F.

Refilled three bird feeders with sunflower seeds.

Consolidated one pallet of retaining wall block onto another in back.

Gathered up remainder of debris that had been raked out of the northeast planting bed and took that up to the compost pile and covered it.

Got most of the dirt from the hosta root cleaning picked up over at the west planting bed, hauled two bucketloads up to compost/woodlot and dumped on a topsoil pile there. Hauled down two more bucketloads of mulch for west planting bed, one more for northeast planting bed.

Screened about 10 bucketloads of compost, hauled four bucketloads down to a small planting bed near the northeast planting bed, but closer to the house.

Planted about another dozen hosta in northeast planting bed, bucket-o'-hosta finally emptied ...

Gave all hostas over there a good watering, emptied Water Buffalo.

Pumped up tires on Water Buffalo and moved it around back, need to fill that in the morning.

Worked remainder of old Plant-Tone fertilizer into soil around the daylily divisions and watered it in. Day lily divisions already showing signs of new growth ...

No work on blower today, probably not tomorrow either ... since it's supposed to be nice out.

The Woman got a text from a friend this afternoon about the son of another mutual friend who has come down with COVID and is apparently not doing real well. He's still at home though, in quarantine, with his wife talking care of him ... hopefully he'll pull through. He's a Houston firefighter. Say a prayer for him and his family.

good morning all. 60 out now going all the way up to 82 today, surprisingly warm sunny day. Same tomorrow then it cools off with rain this weekend.

no coffee, no breakfast this morning, sigh. Making a pb&j sandwich to take to hospital with me, so when done PET scan can have something to eat.
Sure do miss my coffee. Have PET and electrocardiogram today, hoping for no surprises.

Buppies, sorry you can't sleep. Melatonin only gets me through part of the night, my sister takes CBD oil at times and she says that is very effective and natural also.

Hope you can sleep in today Phil. Congratulations

Drinking first cup of coffee. 56° with mostly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 69° with sunny skies. Got bird feeders filled and got shopping list made for adding a door to back section of cellar. Dr. appointment today for loss of hearing in right ear. Then get items on shopping list at Menards.

Phil, that first day of retirements is one to enjoy. :drink:

Buppies, wish I had recommendation on how to get better sleep. I have now just accept what I get.

Drew, hope test come out good.

Looking, I sang that song lots of time. I outlasted all the people that I sang it about. So maybe it was what made me outlast them.

Mostly, hope you have won the gopher battle. Lake is about .7 by .4 miles.

RS, good to hear you have all the hostas planted.

Kyle, good car is running OK.

RNG, spacers look good. I put 1 1/2" spaces on my tractor many years ago.

Got get going to 8:00 am appointment.

Everyone stay safe and healthy.

Good Morning All.

Congrats mpham. Now enjoy the days ahead even more so!

52 heading to lower 80's today.

Very productive day yesterday. I feel I can keep up with TGMC (The Good Morning Crew).

Got a shoulder peek scheduled with the ortho. Boo.
Got the dumpster a little more full. Cheer.
Managed to get further back in an outbuilding. Boo. Cheer? (Had never cleaned it out since we moved here. Never made it all the way back).
- Found three fossilized possums
- Found some really cool, total ruined NASA pics and prints.
- Found and entire print collection of the BeechCraft 1025 drone (all the same print, unfortunately) It's was a MQ-xx series, designation back then.
- And managed to get out of there physically OK
Retreated to cut the grass. Cheer. Boo. (Wife fenced in an additional 20 acres for pasture, my ZTR gets a workout with all the fence line) . LOL.
I may now invest in a bigger finishing mower for the tractor, and may have to move up in speed and size on the ZTR.

And an electrician came by, estimate was OK and he starts, tomorrow. Cheer!

I think I can get the dumpster out of here by Friday, and now need to order siding. Hope that will not be as screwed as trying to get wood.

Hope all have a great day. Be safe. More of the above on tap for me, when the sun starts up.

Hope you all caught Mars last night. It was bright and orange. Cool. Saturn, Pluto and Jupiter were all visible too.

55 going to 82. Might wash the vehicles today. Might be the last day in 80s til next year.

Congratulations, Phil! 1st day of retirement...I'll never forget mine...went to a Presidential candidate rally about 15 miles away and saw Ricky Scaggs perform while we waited for the bus to drive in.

Don, you need to make your first You-tube...would hate to think that the art of barbed wire rolling would disappear like so many other customs and tricks only passed down by parents and grandparents. At the Folk Music festivals we attend, there are old-time craftsman making things on display...from stripping oak to make baskets to moonshining...always big crowds to see how it's done.

It sounds like not only lumber prices may be going up, maybe also Irish Spring...with all you are using RS, might become a national shortage. :)

Left early yesterday to drive up the North Section of Shenandoah NP...hiked to Overall Run Falls. I last hiked it in October of 2017, and can't remember if you said you've done it, BEF. It is a 6.1 miles hike, and 1,694 feet of elevation gain, Kyle. Saw only a few folks, and three dogs. Surprisingly no bears. Talked with one solo backpacker woman who was on her 5th day on the trail (Tuscarora Trail, which cuts off the Appalachian Trail and runs over to West Virginia, and Overall Falls is on the way). Leaves weren't at peak, but some individual trees were.

Going to take this day nice and slow.

52 going to 70 with high wind warnings for the afternoon. Going to need to take the flags down. No use blowing leaves till it's over. Maybe a nap!
Stay safe and healthy all!
