66°F and cloudy with some fog this morning, going up to 84° today. No rain forecast here until Saturday.

After I got the trash gathered and walked the can down to the road yesterday evening, then checked on the chickens, I spent the rest of the evening in my studio tweaking guitar sounds. Stayed up way too late. :zzz: I'll be paying for that this afternoon.

My baseball heroes growing up were Bob Gibson and Lou Brock. Lou just died over the weekend, at 81. Got to meet him and his lovely wife about 20 years ago. Wonderful man, and humble as the day is long. Also got to meet Stan Musial once, in an elevator at the old Busch Stadium. Another really great guy, who played before my time.

The room looks crowded in the pic, Mostly_, but it's an illusion of the angle. It's not a big room, 11 feet wide, but there is almost five feet between the loveseat and the table. The new furniture is the same size as the old wicker stuff, but with slightly lower backs. And, it's much more comfortable.

Ron, will those binder posts need to support much weight or torque loads? Thinking those we've seen here are not made of strong metal, nor do they need to to hold
scrapbooks and picture albums together.

Binder post is attached to door prop and fits into door latch. Purpose is to hold door open. So people can see inside car at a car show. It will be plenty strong enough for that purpose.

Good morning! 74˚F raining! The Tempest weather station is staying on line since I moved the hub 2' away from UPS and router which were in direct line with the weather station. So far we have had .13" of rain and we are under a flash flood warning. The park cedarcide has been canceled today the first rainout since we started in April.

too funny Don, good one.
I spent an hour on the phone with her this morning and definitely the other place that is unfurnished and first floor makes more sense to me.
She is an obsessive compulsive shopper, all three garage bays are full of stuff and she said she has 300 :shocked: pieces of artwork in her library she has collected and just likes to sell at cost or give away. Now that her husband has died, she has no constraints and I think even with her enormous house she will be a hoarder par excellence...
Remarkable property, huge home, pool, tennis court, apple orchard, etc etc. If nothing else, I may have made a new friend. But with all her degrees and money she sounds a little daffy to me...

71 and raining, going to 78. I got a few things done outside before the rain hit. The local weather men try so hard, but often meteorologists are using models that can't predict so well. At their 6am forecast, two different TV channel meteorologists said this tropical rain was supposed to hit here after noon, but before 9am it got started. Oh well, at least it's not early snow like Ted got.

Buppies, hope you don't get the heavy rain predicted...Smithfield already has 7 inches in last 24 hours.

Prayers said for RNG and the folks in the fire area. Glad you have been preparing.

I'd love to do the MI thumb barn quilt tour...I bet it is beautiful countryside...Ron, I've been thinking of painting a quilt, too, for our little barn. We didn't take any photos (we just forgot) but I did pull a couple off the county website...not our favorites, but good representations...most of them looked like 4 ft square plywood or metal painted and hung like a diamond or square, many in quilted patterns, some with designs...one hung over a repair shop in town had all kinds of tools painted on it, another had tea pots, coffee cups, etc.

Good morning. A slightly unexpected and very wet mist closed in on us at daybreak. It nicely kept me cool as I walked my last zig zags across the far hay field, pulling yet more ragwort. Getting too late in the year for hay, but with a bit of luck the weather over these next few days will at least allow friends to make some sileage of it for their cattle.

I got a bit lost over what a "barn quilt" is, I was expecting to see stitching on fabrics depicting images of old barns. Instead the links show many barns painted with images of flags ? :confused2: That rock painting is excellent.

RNG, hope the fires die down and morning brings nothing more than an opportunity to review the checklist.

Sodamo, very cute looking pup. So you named him after an Hawaiian word for "wind" ? Good choice - "flatulence", although often accurate, would have been a cruel name for any dog :thumbsup:

Jim, learning to tie flies could be fun. Instead of buying materials from an online catalogue, I wonder if it would be possible to catch fish on flies tied only with materials I find in the fields. Thanks to Mr Fox, there is always a plentiful supply of feathers from a wide variety of birds and waterfowl, no shortage of wool and even thin shiny plastic could be thought of as a naturally occurring resource the next time someone's helium filled birthday balloon falls out of the sky.

I used to use deer and elk hair, pheasant and duck feathers, that were taken in hunting seasons plus any goodies I could snitch from the wife sewing and craft supplies. I wasn't above snagging a little tinsel off the Christmas tree either. One of the best things about tying your own flies is you are only limited by your imagination. It also makes you much more aware of your surroundings. Plus putting healthy food on the table, great source of satisfaction.
