TSC/Menards trip cancelled ... didn't realize TSC closed today @ 18:00, haven't finished Menards order yet (still researching gutter covers ...), Woman was over at a neighbor's for a little Labor Day action, etc, etc.

Weather station just north of here shows 1.33" of accumulation so far ... areas north of here up around Cleveland got nearly 5" ...

Severe thunderstorms down around Rich's area ... they were talking 70 mph wind gusts and possible rotation ... so hope he's ok.

Overdue for some time in the fish room, so that's where I'm headed.

Went from 54-83 and now it’s down to 78.
We Mowed and trimmed this morning, moved some more implements out of the building. Semi cleaned out Ellen’s little she shed, then went and bought a Schwinn Airdyne similar to my old one. Finished rehab and need something to work out on.
Had turkey tenderloins in the slow cooker, dressing and baby limas, very good!
Then we unloaded the Schwinn, now I’m too tired to ride it.
Have a good evening all, prayers all around.

The seat on the L3240 is badly cracked as well, but since I'm going to get rid if it, a new seat is out of the question. Snagged one of these covers for forty bux, but haven't had a chance yet to put it on yet...

Seems reasonable ... particularly given that you aren't planning on keeping it.

This is one I ordered:

CountyLine Kubota Seat, 53BK-CNL at Tractor Supply Co.

Seems I looked at them before, isn't the one I would have preferred (below) but is much cheaper:

CountyLine Deluxe Ultra Hi Back Gator Seat Blk, 14:)BK-CNL at Tractor Supply Co.

Likely will only be a temporary solution ... need to strip the foam off the original Kubota seat before the steel pan rusts out and clean it up so it can be recovered.

One of the things I plan on doing ... when I run out of things to plant ...

Did some weed trimming and some chipping.
Didn't remove those limbs from the pine I'd written about this morning...that'll be next weekend or a day this week, but did chip the smaller (non-evergreen) stuff I'd cut down yesterday.
I stopped since the wind was up and looked like rain...

Mostly, yes it was the crowded nature of these get togethers that concerns me, we distanced fairly well, but nobody wore a mask. I was outside for all but fixing a plate and there were only a couple of people.

It is still raining rs, but was never nasty. Looked like it could have gotten ugly, but other than distant rumbles of thunder and some wind, it was a rain event. I am ok with that!

Everyone stay safe out there

Wow! I just stepped outside a few minutes ago.... within the last two hours a thick smoke has covered the whole area. The red dot in the picture is the sun! You could look directly at it..... not sure if this is from a fire up in Santa Fe, or getting blown in from Cali..... it is so thick you can feel it stinging your throat!

Yep, I bought two of them at that price.... one on the BH, one on the tractor. How is yours holding up? The one on the tractor is really fading to light grey....

Mines still in the box, holding up very well

My brother posted a dash cam video of just missing a deer on I77 just south of you. It was dark, it was standing right in the middle of the 2 lanes. I think he shaved it as he went by.

Good evening all. 72F for the start, mostly clear sky, calm wind. Light wind, few clouds, and high of 92F feels like 99F. Bike ride to start, 9 miles in 2 hours, the mowed north section and septic field with grass catcher, then mulched the rest of the front yard, then quit for the day. Did get nap in.
Covid update, Cooke unchanged, Montague unchanged, Grayson, unchanged.
Ted nice score on the pellets, too bad about no video!!
Drew, Glad you are getting nice weather for walk, enjoy your BBQ. Thanks for update on Mollala back.
Eric the first time I towed a boat with the pickup was thrilling. Fortunately had seen some ytube videos on how truck behaves before the towing, because in toe mode much more aggressive engine braking. ECU much more in use in trannie behavior. Trucks may need the same.
Ron nice sunflower, understand about the gumption
Don will have 3 days of 70's for high, and back to low 80's 10-15 F cool off, .7 in rain forecast.
Drew nice pic need to get my cars washed.
Bird interesting story, I never thought there was that much difference in dog foods.
Chris congrats on the haircut. I cut mine off in spring and let grow back in fall. have a beard trimmer but gauge pops out too easy to use on hair :(
Drew sorry about the contract, one will be there when it is time to move
Dennis enjoy your holiday grill
RS sound like the cats are up to no good :D
Kyle neat bike pic, anyone we know?
Dennis congrats on nap
David looks good
Dennis yum when do we eat? :licking:
RS any chance of pics?
Randy nice day
Ted that is some thick smoke!
Dennis that was close
prayers for al, especially Drew/move, Jay/Peg, Kyle's daughter, Mike, David(moss)/move/sale and country

There is always an opportunity for new experiences, I have just had a great one. All my life I have fished with bait and spinning lures except for once while on holiday, when a kind stranger showed me how to cast with his fly rod and how to retrieve the line in a way that the "wet fly" (ie an imitation of an emerging fly, fished below the surface) eventually caught the eye of a brown trout. It was thrilling for a few seconds, then it slipped the hook before I could land it. An enjoyable experience, but not enough to make me want to do it again, I simply prefer to fish by sight, even if that is only watching a float dip.

There is another form of fly fishing that did appeal, using a "dry fly" (an artificial fly that rests on the surface of the water), where you can see the fish take the fly, however it was something I had only read about and never seen used locally, so it was always just a "maybe one day ..." thing.

I may have mentioned before on here about receiving a birthday present a few years ago that came to me as a result of a bid at a country sports auction. It was to be a day of guided dry fly fishing, to be taken the next fishing season on a small river in North Yorkshire. The day was marked on the calendar and for months beforehand I had hours of fun attempting to learn to cast in our garden with a cheap 7' 6" rod. Alas, foot and mouth disease closed the countryside that next year, the rod left in a corner unused.

Well after 20 years, yesterday evening that tiny rod finally got the chance to see some action. Again I had been practising casting on a lawn, only this time I have a place of my own to fish. Having received a few flies in the post last week I was ready to try deceiving the dumbest fish I could find that a few feathers and a sharp piece of steel would make a good supper.

Several fish were rising, making circular ripples all around the pond. I wish I could say I stealthily crawled along the bank and made a perfect cast, but the truth is that my first cast landed in an untidy splash and the second hooked into some rushes. The next was not bad though, the line landed the fly fairly gently onto the water. It sat there as a tiny dot in the surface tension for a couple of seconds before suddenly disappearing in a swirl of water and the line went tight as I lifted the rod tip. Fish on !

You will have to use your own imagination, as I can't fully describe the thrill you get feeling a rod bend as a yet unseen fish makes off across the water, the clutch on the reel having to repeatedly yield to prevent the taught line from breaking.

Picture to follow ...

... oops, maybe that fish fight was only in my imagination too

I honestly didn't care about the size, there is always another day.

Good morning all. 68 out now, headed up to mid 80's with thunderstorms this afternoon.

Eric, sounds like great fun. Are you catch and release or do you eat the fish? (hah, just saw the pic. Is that a sardine...:D)

Headed out early this morning to drop off the powerwasher I bought and moving blankets to storage locker, then off
to supermarket and pharmacy. Might treat myself first by going through McDonald's drive through for a sausage McMuffin.

Last night's chicken (bone in thighs) turned out really well, fully cooked but not overcooked, and not too burnt on outside.
Just kept turning them every five minutes or so on tiny grill, little less hair on right arm now...

RS, make sure you meet your hosta quota today, no slacking...
Ted, now what are you going to build?
Hope you all have a nice day.
