Been up for 45 minutes already...way too early!

Other then some heavy rain late yesterday afternoon and into the night, pretty much a non-event here in central Vermont. I carried my ancient Filson Tin Cruiser coat and hat (they call it tin cloth, most would refer to it as oilskins) to work which kept me dry, even in the hard rain when I left. Even after 20+ years of abuse, the old coat is in pretty good shape except the cuffs are getting raggedy.
Too early to tell if any trees of limbs are down. Wasn't much wind, so I doubt there'll be much clean up...

67 right now...high in the upper 70's and sunny today

Good morning, the internet is more cooperative today, yesterday I struggled to read posts. At first I thought it may be an issue with the mesh wifi I installed last week, however tests showed that was still working fine, I could connect to local sites, the longer delays only came when trying to get further. Perhaps the bottleneck was caused by too many people watching those cat cuke videos. :)

Pleased to hear that no one got taken out by the storms.

The news this morning is dominated by the devastating explosion in Lebanon, which seems to have been caused by fertilizer. I am sure that will make many farmers think twice about their own storage of such a useful but potentially deadly material. Around these parts ammonium nitrate is called "bag muck", to distinguish it from the fertilizer that comes from a cow's rear.

In 1947 there was a huge fertilizer detonation in Texas, I wonder if the story of that was passed on to those of you living in that region ?

65 right now heading for a nice day. Was a non event for us. Hardly any rain or wind. Storm broke up and went around us. Several towns west and east of us had damage. Lucky for us.
I was watching the radar and it looks like Jay was right in the middle of it. Hopefully they made out ok!

good morning all.
Oh what a difference a day makes...
slept soundly last night, quiet out now, 76 going up to 89 today, cooler day.

Lots of friends and family were without power in PA as of last night, glad my brother has a whole house gen, while others worry about
what to do with contents of chest freezers, etc.

I'm off to cancer clinic at hospital this morning for another five hour infusion. This time I'm taking a PBJ with me, since while they offer peanut butter crackers, not much of a lunch. Also see the oncologist and hope he has no surprises other than you are doing fine. First I get lab work done, which they seem to get almost instant results from, then doc reviews them. Hope my white blood cell count has remained high. Am taking a bunch of mineral supplements which I want to ask whether still needed. 23 pills a day is a bit tiresome and some are hard to swallow.

My brother is getting a second covid test he is paying for himself which guaranteed one day results. 2000 bucks...medical establishment is likely gouging again.
I get one for free next Monday before my implantable heart monitor is put in the following Thursday. I think the trick is to get them done at the hospital that is set up to do their own testing.

The videos taken on the Beirut explosion (another Beirut bombing?...) are remarkable and scary. Absolutely huge explosion, surprised death toll is not higher.
Fertilizer can be very very dangerous in wrong situations, like in train derailments or improper storage. Or in the hands of bombers...

enjoying nice mug of coffee, killed a few pesky flies that somehow keep getting into rv, and now for a shower. Shower stall is very small; something I will not miss when moving back into real bathroom in a few months. If I drop the soap, I can't easily bend over to pick it up without my head contacting the (thankfully) soft wall. It's also too small to put a seat in, which I miss. Very concerned about slips and falls living by myself.

Hope you all have a nice day.

Drinking first cup of coffee. Hot coffee. 52ー with clear skies this morning. Heading to 75ー with mostly sunny skies. Got part of house power washed, lawn mowed, dentist visit and picked up my Aunt for a few days stay yesterday. Going to work on some ceiling trim in main bathroom today.
This mornings Moon picture.

Glad to hear that everyone made it through the hurricane safely and with minimal property damage.

Drew, hope today's Dr. visit, test and infusion go well.

Jay, prayer for you and Peg.

David, great picture.

Mostly, I thought propane that we use is a gas. Not liquid. Is it used different than that for a gas engine?

Rick, good action pictures.

Randy, great picture of clouds. Be safe around the damaged trees.

Everyone be safe and healthy.

Good Morning All.

Ron, propane is a liquid that then has to vaporize and you burn the combustible vapor. So it comes to you as a liquid, you store it as a liquid, and when
you use it, liquid vaporizes (I believe temp and pressure has something to do with this) and that's what gets burned.
So what is in your typical 20 pound barbecue grill tank is a liquid, until it comes out.
Bulk version of propane is LNG, liquid natural gas, that's what comes through big pipelines.
Never understood why there was both LNG and propane when basically it's the same thing. Though if I'm ignorant here, someone please correct me.

Toppop, when you see what insurance companies are dealing with, no surprise State Farm is willing to be flexible.
But a good company nonetheless.
Folks on this street in Guttenberg NJ aren't going anywhere for a while, assuming their cars weren't crushed.

72 going to 87. Mostly cloudy and got sprinkled on when outside earlier.

Ron, that's as nice a shot of the moon as I've seen.

Roy, glad your Filson is going strong...my oldest son gave me one for Christmas this past year. I enjoyed wearing it until the temps got too warm here...so hanging until Autumn.

Rick and Randy, hope your clean up goes well. I walked our woods and didn't see any damage, and very few dead limbs are left after all the windstorms we've had this summer. The creek was flooded about a foot over the bridge, but receding well. Grass grew 4 inches during the rain, it seems. Glad I mowed the day before.

Randy, I've been happy with State Farm, too.
