59 right now...high in the mid-80's

New washing machine delivered (finally!) so no more trips to the laundromat. Also, a local appliance repair guy picked up the old one, a Maytag Neptune (finally stopped working after 20 years), which he'll use for parts. The new machine, a Samsung top loader, has the biggest drum I'm ever seen on a washing machine. It's also a high efficiency unit, so shouldn't use to much water.
Chores: Just a dump run...maybe pick up a case of beer.
I did call the hospital about the test results...both good! I knew about the ultrasound from the technician...didn't have results from the cat scan until I called. So, no aortic aneurysm and, apparently no signs of cancer in my lungs. Guess I'll have a cigar to celebrate!!

There's a "Support the Police" rally at the State House in Montpelier today...which I have every intention to be there. Hope a lot of good people show up!! The cops sure need our support since the politicians are ****ting on them

good morning all.
glad you are doing well Roy, must be a relief to not worry about that, at least for awhile...
please be careful at the rally and distance yourself

more rain after dinner last night but fairly gentle.
73 out now with high of 92 with thunderstorms likely this afternoon, normal summer weather here.

Jay, hope you are doing ok, we all worry about you and your wife.

Buckeye and RS, take it easy in the heat, you both are working very hard. Also hope RNG is taking a rest day.
Hope you all have a nice weekend

70 and feels great outside...maybe a heat index of 68 :). But getting back to the 90s again.

Roy, glad you're "clean" inside...maybe 2 cigars...like Thomas...a smooth one, with a Connecticut wrapper, since they're grown nearby.

Great idea of a Police rally. Hope the usual troublemakers don't show up.

BEF, pretty lily...we had a good sunset show from the storms, too, but only got a sprinkle.

Don, didn't see any spitting. Enjoyed watching the Orioles, but it is just not the same this year, plus they got killed 13-2. I heard that Fox Sports will use computer graphics to superimpose fans into the stadium along with appropriate noise and even the fans doing the wave in their televised games this weekend...kinda like when football superimposes the yellow line indicating where the offense needs to get for a first down. Sounds like watching a video game, but will be interesting.

Roy happy your test results were good

Drinking first cup of coffee. 57° with fog in low lands this morning. Heading to 87° with partly cloudy skies and low humidity. Building cleaning got put off yesterday until today. Cut lawn and did some drone pictures for neighbor. Got my shopping done. Sam's Club had lots of mask on the shelf. Less than $15 for 50. I have a good supply. But no disinfectant wipes or spray. Like RS no Sparrows in trap.
Covid 19 update. Michigan cases 7,541. Deaths 6,151, averaging about 550 new cases each day. Oakland county, 10,542 cases, 1,083 deaths. My county is showing less that 50 new cases per day. Mask may be working?
Here is picture of neighbors Pink Garden.

Roy, good news on test. Stay safe at the rally. Interested in the top load washer. I dislike the front load I have.

RNG, I put only one of my 3 phones on Xfinity Mobile for a year before I made the complete move.

Buckeye, nice picture. Like the butterfly.

Mostly, great to hear from old fellow workers. After being retired for 16 years next month. Almost all the people I worked with have also retired.

Wngsprd, glad Coco is doing better. Take good care of your burn.

David, hope you have everything put away and you stay safe.

Jay, best wishes for you and Peg.

RS, be careful around the Bee's. Another week of 11% at Menards. Until 8/1.

Kyle, did you hone cylinder bore after boring it. Best we did was grind cylinders. Gives a very smooth and true surface for rings. Took a little longer to break engine in.

Everyone be safe and healthy.

Good Morning All.

Thanks for the comment about the tests!
The rally will be safe as long as no radicals, such as Antifas, shows up. Per the organizer, there is a counter (anti-police) protest, but only one protest on the state house grounds is permitted at a time. I just don't see how some people can get anti-cop because of a few bad apples. I'm suspecting outside influences and organizers though

This is the washing machine:

Did the first wash when I got home yesterday...still need to figure out the optimal way to operate it...
I was going to go for the 5.4 cubic foot model...but as I'd written, the 5.0 cubic foot drum is huge!

Roy, does your washer play little tunes when it turns on and off?
I bought one of these for my wife about ten years ago, early HE models didn't fill up with enough water, we learned to use
"bulky" setting or something like that to trick the machine to add more water.
these machines might even come with Bluetooth now...

when I bought the one at my farm, I tried to get the oldest style Maytag available, never had an issue with it. But the Samsung was a beautiful
looking washer, clearly done with an industrial designer. Ours was charcoal grey with a paint job worthy of a new car.

I really didn't pay much attention, but I think there was some kind of chime when I turned it on...I wasn't around when it shut down after the cycle was complete

Good morning! Hanna come here! The storm is churning in the Gulf. Our town is using 90% of water plant capacity and we need rain. They are threatening to go to Stage 2 of the water conservation plan - that would be only watering once a week. But the real reason is that I want to check out the rain sensor and lightning detection systems on my new weather station.

74˚ across the board on the the three temps this morning with light wind and cloud cover. 60% chance of rain high 90˚F.

Roy, I wonder how full of water the drum will get. When my oilfield/tractor buddy was mad about 2 different washers he had tried, he had me send him a picture of a tape measure showing the SpeedQueen's water depth at max. LOL. I don't remember the number, but maybe around 14" deep? He went and bought one that day.

Mostly, I had 2 RD400's, and an RZ350. Wish I had a new RZ right now. I know it didn't pollute as much as these "chipped" diesel trucks. I take offense when they blow unburned diesel soot on me in their quest to show off their soot. I wish the politicians could make some laws with teeth, preventing their "soot shows" when the light turns green.

Ron, nice little garden there. Maybe some gnomes hiding in it.

I hung an air hose reel up yesterday. I need to get it plumbed (use a 1/2" hose to supply air to it from the tank). Was tough drilling holes through the I-beam 8' up. My step drill is worn out at the 1/2" step. Had to switch to a regular drill, which tried to twist my wrist off, when it grabbed. My arms are worn out too. It was so hot.

My neighbor is making a new garden, nicknamed a lasagna garden. Named such, because of the layers you build up making it. He dug out a fairly big area about 18" deep. Ordered 30 yards of mushroom compost, and a 14 yd load of sandy loam. You start with putting cardboard and compostable table scraps in the bottom, then mix more compost with the loam and fill almost to the top, then top with just loam. He needs another load of loam.

Might go look at a couch today.

Roy, I hope no trouble at the march.

Prayers for all in need, and our country.

Oh, almost forgot, my son and I were taking some (about 8) bags of gently used clothing to a drop box yesterday evening. I was teaching him that we are taught to give with one hand in such a way that the other hand knows nothing of it. I told him if he sees a young man wearing one of his old shirts, say nothing, as many of his clothes were given to us by friends. Just be thankful the kid has a shirt to wear. I believe he now understands. Pay it back and forward.

Good Morning!!!! 70F @ 6:00AM. Sunny. High 99F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Never been much of a sports fan, but I'm glad to hear the baseball players are standing during the national anthem.

A while back, Kyle, I had to replace the worn out vanes in a die grinder. I used phenolic, and it seems to be wearing well. Not too expensive, either. Only problem is I can't remember which grade I used, and there seem to be a lot to choose from. If he Teflon doesn't work out in the buzz bomb, maybe one of these would work.

Thirty-four new CV19 cases here yesterday, down a few but still enough to keep us on the 3-day monitoring list. It's our last day on that list, and I expect new limitations to go in place either today or tomorrow. About the only one that will effect me is the closing (again) of my barber's shop, but he's on vacation this coming week anyway.

Highway 70 through the Feather River Canyon is an excellent road, yet every year there are several accidents, some of them fatal. Yesterday some knucklehead ran a semi truck down into the river, and it's a wonder neither he nor his co-driver were injured. Even luckier, the truck was full of wooden pallets, so the only real concern is leaking oil and fuel from the truck.

In the hot afternoons we've been having lately, I've been boning up on network design, specifically the Ubiquity line of wifi access points and routers. Found a lot of videos online, and am getting pretty close to replacing the hodge podge of wifi routers, range extenders, and access points here with something more uniform and robust from a single vendor.

No rest for the wicked, Drew. I managed to flip the lid from the firetruck tank over yesterday and get the rust wire brushed. Did some trimming on the rust scraps around the hatch opening as well. The tractor with forks did all the heavy lifting, and it went smoother than I thought it would. Today I'll flip it back over and start the repairs to the hatch, and get the stiffeners cut as well. They'll all come out of the same piece of scrap. I see some quality time with the plasma cutter in my immediate future.

Unloaded van first thing and then relocated sparrow trap back to front yard. We'll see if that gets any action. May need to pick up some Cheetos ... hear the orange color attracts them (not kidding)
Going to need a report on the Cheetos.

I got an air hose reel sitting on a shelf now, that has aged about 20 yrs.

Woke up before 5, heard someone downstairs and found my youngest son up. I couldn’t sleep, so watched some tv and then fell asleep on the couch.
Ground hog is eating the green bean plants. It’s pushing the bottom of the gate open. Went out to show my wife where to hook the bottom, and the ground hog was there trying to get in. Wife chased it under the truck, then it ran right by me heading for it’s home underneath the shed. I threw a full water bottle at it, missed and bottle burst open.
Already in 80s at 9 am.
Outdoor 3 legged cat caught a young rabbit and was eating it on the porch last night. Only sign this morning is a little blood stain on the concrete.

Too humid to work outside.

Making ice cream today.
